Huh. Systems Alliance Recruitment Center has got me thinking. We know that they wouldn't send their very best and brightest, nor the war hardened veterans. What I'm thinking is that they are sending the newest recruits.
I'm thinking they got stuck on an ark ship defending it, and then something attacked (before they had a chance to get off) and Ryder says, "We made it."
*sigh* Waiting's hard.

Doesn't sound like a whole lot of new info will arise. Maybe it's just the panel names.

It got old like 5 years ago. 3 for those like me, who consider themselves neutrally polite and tolerant enough.
May be it's my bitternes and anger talking right now, but somehow I think that the very word 'Inclusion' is the worst hypocrisy that might come from their mouths. After what they've done, they ecxpect people to go for them, cosplay etc. As if MassEffect cosplay initiative, (which was one of the greatest con events ever) was not the community's doing. They pretend like it's ok and nothing wromg gad happened on 26.08.2016

BioWare have had 'a chart' for each game for many years to make sure that everyone has choices, this is nothing new, nor do I personally view it as problem. Not going to derail this thread with this discussion however as I'm sure it will pop up in another thread at some point.

No, that's not a problem at all. The problem is that they've been talking loudly about the same things since ~2010. It would be nice to discuss their games, developing process, lore and such instead of listening to the yet-another preaching, just for a change you know.

That's a different matter, and yes I agree with you there. I would find discussions about development, art design etc, etc very interesting. In part, I suspect the reason why not, is that via EA, BioWare's development processes may be considered proprietary and so under NDA, also any 'examples' would be dangerous to give with N7 Day not being here yet, and thirdly, it would appear to be more the 'Dragon Age' team that is at the conventions, given the critical stage MEA is at.

Ew. Jeez.
A lot of crowing about gender, diversity and romance. Not a single word about overall storyline, let alone gameplay.
Let's hope that this isn't representing their priorities when it comes to game development. But gotta make do with what you've got to distinguish yourself from the competition, right?

There wont be anything interesting. They wont talk about anything useful "gamey" wise.
I assume people who attend to this type of events enjoy them, but honestly I personally don't care because they wont talk about upcoming games, because this or that reason. Both BF1 and TTF2 release by the end of october (talk about "competence"). So, actual info after that? what other "game" events do we have after october? will it really be on N7? I somehow doubt it.

I somehow doubt it as well, though my vision for the future is a lot brighter than yours. I'm not eulogizing the end of BioWare yet. It's just that I think we're too small of a fanbase (at least those that actually show up on N7 day) for them to be really be worried about. Maybe the Keighly video game awards, but not N7 day. N7 day might have something, but certainly not the big info dump that we all expect.

No reason to get all worried about this. Story was always one of the main points in a BW game. No way they are going to chance that.

Why are people complaining about this yet not acknowledging their past panels on art and story? Weekes and (Blair?) just recently did an entire panel on tone in BW games. Because judging from Dragon Age: Inquisition, gameplay, engineering and overall storyline are the aspects that require the most iteration at the moment, and it would be nice to see that something is done to improve them. When these things are well done, every player profits from it, regardless of their stance on romances, gender and diversity. Quality gameplay and engineering are universally important aspects of every video game.

I don't care that much about Star Trek, I'm more of a Firefly guy But back to games, I really wish Bioware would focus more on making good games and lesss on the diversity stuff. Boy it must have sucked for DA:I writers to get the memo: you have to write a token gay character, a token POC character, a one-eyed pansexual bull (and his trans lieutenant) character, a strong independ warrior wymynz trope character, oh and we wouldn't want to forget the "cast caught in a web of ability" - an autist character and a Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder character. And the FASD is a lesbian. Just because. I guess writers got a little wiggle room with Blackwall and Solas only. Meanwhile the story is "ancient evil has arisen" with boring villain, main character has a personality of a cardboard box, there is one choice per the whole game including all DLCs - to side with mages or templars everything else is on rails, and all the side content has less quality than free to play MMO grinders from Korea. Bioware, PLEASE. Get your shit together before EA axes you. What is this shit: Making and Promoting Non-Traditional Characters in Games Foreplay: Romance in Games Team Up: Women in Games & TechI don't care how many women you employ. I want to exchange my hard earned currency for a good game. I want talks about good level design, about art style and visuals, engaging core gameplay loop that adds replayability, you know... things in games that actually matter to gamers.

I fail to understand why people think that making good games and making games with diverse characters are somehow exclusive... Of course it's not exclusive, just as good graphics and a good story are not exclusive. The thing is, everything they mention in their PAX announcement seems to be about their ideology as a company, and not about the crafting of good games. It's a very one sided focus, and it makes me wonder whether they feel that their ideology is enough of a unique selling point and that quality gameplay and engineering therefore are not a high priority. I'm just speculating, of course, but the complete omission of those aspects is a bit odd. Because in the end, poor gameplay and poor engineering make for a poor overall game, no matter how diverse your characters are or what ideology the developers adhere to.

None of these panels are a surprise. They are safe BioWare topics that keep the conversation away from MEA. One of my daughters is a junior programmer, the only female programmer in her study class. The 'women in tech' topic is absolutely legit. ... quality gameplay and engineering therefore are not a high priority. I'm just speculating, of course, but the complete omission of those aspects is a bit odd. ... I wonder if EA would consider development process to be proprietary and therefore under NDA. Similarly, hard to talk about gameplay when the last example they have is DAI, and that's 2 years old now.
