Wraith is a very solid shotgun, sure, but Raider is god-tier... I doubt I'll ever understand how anyone could think the Wraith even deserves to be uttered in the same sentence as the Raider. q5 please... This "god-tier" gun can't shoot anything beyond 10 meters... with less than half the dps of the Reegar. The Raider is fun to use and makes a cool sound but its rare status is well deserved in my opinion. It's a good weapon, not a great one.

I used to hate the Raider. I also used to hate the EDIBot. But then, one day, I had the silly thought to put two things I hate together. And it was magical, like somethign out of a fairy tale, they both came into focus as one, whole, complete package of utter carnage and destruction. And they lived happily ever after, on piles of shattered bones and inferior hardware.

As you said, it's excellent on the AIU, and also on the Havoc, Valkyrie, vanguards... but not so much on a whole bunch of kits.

I was afraid of the Raider for the longest time, because of its range limitations. I rarely host, so Vanguards are my least-used class by some distance. But then I read about the chance of getting in three shots off-host and I decided to give it to the Batarian Vanguard and take my chances. The dictionary should have a picture of this combo under the word 'thug', as it's one of the most glorious examples I can think of. God-tier most definitely - I would put it on just about any character now, on or off host. I'm surprised at you even mentioning the Reegar as a comparison. The Reegar isn't even a gun, nevermind a shotgun. I'd rather squirt a bottle of radioactive piss at enemies than use that rattling abomination. Also, making 'a cool sound' is more important to some of us than others, quite obviously, as one of the reasons I don't like the Wraith much is because it doesn't make a sound I find pleasing - I've described it before as being like a broken bicycle bell. I'm sorry that I was away in another galaxy at the start of this poll, but greatly relieved to be here in time to see the High Lord rightly crowned as BSN's favourite ME3 gun. BOOM! HA! THEY'RE DEAD!

As you said, it's excellent on the AIU, and also on the Havoc, Valkyrie, vanguards... but not so much on a whole bunch of kits. Yeah, Valkyrie is a freaking amazing shotgun kit. After using the Piranha and Reegar on her, I can't see using anything NOT a shotgun on her. It's just crazy how much damage she can put out with a Shotgun (Warp IV and stacking debuffs might have something to do with it ). As to the Havoc, I believe I use a Talon with Melee Stunner + Power Mag on him, only really play him on Silver though, because it's fun to just hammer enemies with Havoc Strike + Heavy Melee repeatedly, kinda like a Krogan Warlord, only more mobile, good for stress relief. Raider only has a slightly better effective range than the Reegar, but it's a hell of a lot more satisfying to use. One of my alt accounts refused to unlock the Claymore, so my Flamerless GT was stuck with Revenant and Raider, carried many a match, movement speed and sturdiness certainly help the Raider.

For the Wraith you could also add the 15% difference in damage/shot at 50 less weight, which makes it good on any kit, but as I said and repeated, this tournament is about favorite gun, not best gun.

Anyone who says otherwise hasn't Radier'd off-host (I say this as someone who USUALLY hosts). As to weight, sure, Wraith wins this one easily, but if you're looking for a shotgun where weight doesn't matter, Wraith isn't the one to choose (Claymore and Raider are both pretty much universally better when Weight doesn't matter). That said, in Wraith's defense, I can still kill end-to-end on Vancouver with it, but not a chance with the Raider. And this is all ignoring personal preference, which includes things like boom-factor, which Wraith lacks (though it does have gibbed head factor going for it).

My vanilla AA has tried them all... Wraith, Raider and Claymore. And while she concedes that Wraith is probably the best shotgun, number and effectiveness wise, nowadays, she swears by High Lord again, though she will take Raider for a spin as well, especially if she's feeling frisky. There is just something to be said about them BOOM factor and while I was never bothered by the sound Wraith makes as much as certain people around here, there's no contest, Raider and Claymore win hands down.

Sometimes you can get 4 or 5 shots and it's hard not to giggle at how well it is working as intended.

And why anyone would want to be further than 10m from something is beyond me. (and honestly, I can't think of a more perfect description for the Wraith than "good, not great")

Exactly. Which is why the fact that the Raider sounds, looks, feels, and plays 100x cooler than the Wraith is way more relevant than the fact that it boasts what, almost twice the on-paper dps while being only marginally heavier.

This thread is for favorite weapon,so seems that wraith is not only better weapon, but it's more preferably

I will grant that Wraith beating the almighty Raider is a perfect reminder that the tournament is about favorite weapon rather than best weapon. People sure do have bizarre taste sometimes, though.

I feel the exact same way about the Talon. *** On the Raider subject, I don't have much to say. I've given it a decent try twice now but it's just not for me. Won't say it's not effective; not my style though.

For me there are only 4 shotguns-wraith,claymore,venom and crusader and everything else.Yes,GPS or raider or grall are great weapons, but i don't like them too much.

I mentioned the Reegar simply because it's the only shotgun which has a more limited range than the Raider. But in exchange, it offers me a ridiculous dps, what the Raider doesn't. I basically don't use the Reegar, but I don't hate it nor badmouth it either. I would certainly have a problem with it if I was obliged to use it but it's not the case so... I think it has its place in the game. People saying that it doesn't requires skills to use or that it totally trivializes the game with any character have never played a London Collectors platinum run with a reegar asari adept ... As for the off-host bonus when using the Raider, it's very unreliable for me. Sometimes I only get the standard 2 shots, sometimes 3 shots... It breaks my rythm and is actually more a drawback than an advantage.

Those dps figures suppose that you're at effective range, which is very limited for the Raider, the gun looses quickly most of its damage past a few meters. I will grant that Wraith beating the almighty Raider is a perfect reminder that the tournament is about favorite weapon rather than best weapon. People sure do have bizarre taste sometimes, though. If it was about the best weapon, the Wraith would be on top (with Arc pistol and Talon, I guess) !

Can't snipe with Raider unless weapons kit/lolfiltrator. Anybody can snipe with Wraith.
For me, that's the end of the discussion.

If it was about the best weapon, the Wraith would be on top (with Arc pistol and Talon, I guess) ! In some parallel universe, somewhere, yeah probably. I mean, there may be parallel universes where I was elected President, or am able to fly, or any number of completely wacky possibilities, so I suppose its entirely possible that there's a parallel universe out there where the Wraith actually is the best gun in ME3 (or at least is as good/better than the almighty Raider). What a weird place that would be!
