I like the ability to purchase character respecs directly with all of my mission funds without having to mess around with the store. certainly a nice upgrade to the game.

I thought I would like that, and now I must have 15+ respec cards banked (if only there was a way to tell). The things seem to drop like candy once you start buying Expert packs all the time.

As the author of the guide allow me to say that we don't really need a guide. But, it was fun to write anyway.
Just send your teams on the highest percentage chance missions, don't sweat the negative traits, check the app as often as you can (if you care about maximizing MF/day), and enjoy having more MF than you will ever be able to spend.

Learned something new tonight about Strike Teams. So if you've sent teams on APEX missions, you can still always do the missions yourself. Once completed, this automatically asks you to debrief your team. The handful of times I've done it before, the team was always successful and got a small amount of experience. It turns out that you team can also fail this way even if you successfully complete the mission And earn a negative trait I didn't think I was going to play tonight, so sent out my teams, then decided I'd go ahead and knock out a couple of missions. My immaculate, original team with no negatives picked up Xenophobia because I successfully completed the mission for them. If I wasn't so amused by how dumb this was I'd be salty about my starting team finally getting a negative trait. Literally punishing the player for playing the game.

Anyone else noticed that there seems to be a threshold regarding negative traits when it comes to mission-success probabilities?
I haven't received a single bad trait for around 3-4 weeks now despite doing almost all missions.
I don't send teams on missions who have success-rates lower than 74% for a while.

RNG is RNG. You can't know anything based on a sample size of 1 to 6.

can you get negative traits from any failed mission or only apex ones? and is this connected to the amount of missions a team has failed before or is it just rng? i recruited a new team and only sent it on missions i knew it could do. it reached lvl 20 without any negative traits, yesterday it failed a 61% gold apex mission and got its firsta ngeative trait

can you get negative traits from any failed mission or only apex ones? and is this connected to the amount of missions a team has failed before or is it just rng? Any mission. It's all RNG. According to the FAQ negative traits are only acquired on 'critical failures' but given we have no definition of that term... RNG.

How the hell do you get the "Promote a Strike Team to level 20" achievement? I've had 5 teams hit level 20, retired 1 for too many negative traits and still no trophy. Any ideas on what gives?

RNG is RNG. You can't know anything based on a sample size of 1 to 6. Highly unlikely. Around 120-140 missions with around 15% fails without any negative effect looks at least like it's not pure rng. Maybe critical failures appear more often when probability of success ist low. Sounds logical to me to implement it that way.

'Critical failure' could mean 1 out of 100 *times you fail*, or 1 out of 1000, or whatever. We're all just speculating.

Any ideas on what gives? try logging on in single player at least once and check your strike teams ... i had 5 teams at 20 but was only doing multiplayer, once i sent a team out in single player the achievement popped after that.

I'm on my 3rd SP playthrough and have always regularly done my strike team business from the Tempest. Thank you for the advice though, I do appreciate it.

The app got updated again, not sure when, but once again I had to manually update.
Store now allows you to buy packs.
Strike Teams show more info, +5 bonuses now properly show as applying. The Debrief screen got a total UI overhaul.
Probably some other changes, but those are what I noticed.

My lvl 20 teams have stopped receiving negative traits since almost a month ago. Three haven't received any bad traits. Just nursed them real good until level 20 and never worried again.

I went probably a month with no negatives on anyone, even my poor 6 negative trait team. Then bam, in the last week or so, picked up two negatives on two different teams.

Ditto the above. Which is exactly what you'd expect from randomness but humans always want to see patterns and stories where none exist.

Got 4 teams no negative traits but one. It's a lvl 20 that failed gold a couple of times until they got fraid of robots. Maybe bad traits come when a team fails too often (in succession / period of time)?

Seconding the randomness of negative traits. Had a clean level 20 team with exceptional human intelligence fail on a 94% chance bronze mission and pick up the xenophobic trait because of it.
I'm sure it's set up as such so that no matter how careful you are, eventually you'll pick up enough negatives you'll be forced to retire that team and rotate to a new one.

No. No, it can't be! They think it random, but my careful attention to my teams has magically prevented them from gaining traits. Also: I scarifice pugs regularly to RNG god - that worked in ME3, too for better drops.
