Why wasn't he involved in the Morda fight? And who was? I'm still a bit confused by that whole sequence. I couldn't even tell if they actually even touched each other, let alone that Morda pinned Crux to the ground. That was one of the strangest, most lackluster "fights" I've ever seen in any game. I have no idea how that was able to pass QA and someone not find it terrible. They honestly should have just went with a gun fight. Just have Morda grab a shotgun and shot him in the face would have been so much better.

There is a difference between targeting straight white guys and having a game featuring straight white guys or there can be in many cases. Not everything is that cut and dry. Witcher is based on books and Witcher 3 is the third entry in an established game canon. They can't just throw in 50 black guys to appeal to a wider audience at the expense of their fiction. BioWare can because their IPs don't have any identity that excludes diversity unlike Witcher's Slavic, Polish mythology. I just hate when people talk about Witcher as if its the devil for not featuring non-white characters. That can be diversity too as long as other game series represent other audiences. Also, if I played an action game where all characters are masculine women I wouldn't necessarily consider that to be made not for me. It's like saying "50 Cent Bulletproof is a game for black people". Fuck you, it isn't and I like the game better than all of you Yeah thats not the problem with the Witcher series. The problem is the really boring combat and in all honesty...the tone being excessively grimdark for no reason other than to shock people. Especially in the first game. I am also not a fan of Geralt as a character, personally. He was better written in Witcher 2 at least. I completely agree about your last statement. Witcher 3 making Geralt a male hetero fantasy is actually one criticism I agree with because they sorta sweetened him up. Ves's romance was also a hit goofy I'm TW2 but at least in that game I better understood the macho fantasy of Geralt which had a certain charm to it but in Witcher 3 he's sometimes on the Mary Sue spectrum because he seems more soft-spoken and too "good" whereas I took him as a kind of morally gray character in TW2.

I thought this was informative: Very good video. It largely reiterates why comparing MEA to Uncharted, or even The Witcher 3, isn't realistic or even practical. At the same time, even this video admits it doesn't know where the issues ultimately lie. Honestly, it just came across as if BioWare didn't bother to polish the dialogue system and left it in a very rough state. It's hard to blame Frostbite 3 as the cause, considering Battlefield games have always had great animations and even DAI was better, and BioWare (admittedly a different studio) made that game. Presumably they were sharing the same tools, however, so the issue likely lies elsewhere. It's unlikely we'll ever know the real issue. However, I'd even argue most of the crucial scenes that everybody sees are poorly animated as well. The Cora sex scene literally is one of the only scenes that is remarkably well-executed. All we can hope is that this problem does not continue in future DLC and games, considering the conversation system is literally the foundation of 80% of BioWare's content.

There's definitely something wrong somewhere. I posted this in another thread: In engine (I.e. outside of a cutscene) my Sara looks great: 99% of the time in a cutscene she looks great also: Yet on the very rare occasion sometimes during a scene she looks like she has the mumps or something, and her face seems really bloated and lacking in detail. It's almost like a low polygon count model has loaded up briefly. It's very odd, and only happens for a few seconds.

BioWare should use Tal Peleg/another person to train the rest of the animation team because, while I don't expect every scene to have this level of attention, all key scenes from the game should've been outstanding.

While it's probably not realistic to assume everything can look as good as the Cora sex scene, hopefully there is a significant improvement across the board going forward.

A bit hard to see here, but you can see the textures on Sloanes face load in: The detail appears on her cheeks after a brief moment - very odd as the game should have already loaded her face from the scene before. Sometimes it seems like the higher res textures don't load: But then they are in the next shot: Something isn't going right.

Sometimes it seems like the higher res textures don't load: But then they are in the next shot: Something isn't going right. Texture loading definitely is slow. I've seen Peebee's face on a few occasions have a really low resolution and then it improves later. Of course, that just adds to the issues on top of the already dysfunctional conversation system that is somehow the culprit to all these wonky animations. Most of the animations are passable, but none of them are really good. It probably wouldn't be as big of a deal if the Cora sex scene animations weren't so fantastic, and then you have other scenes like the Avela romance. There is just a stark contrast in quality within the game that it's incredibly distracting.

"My work on MEA amounts to an incredibly small percentage. It's been a refreshing experience working with such a positive, friendly team. There are too many talented people involved making the game and the scenes above"
Ya, if all those people were super talented we wouldn't have gotten the game we did, in the shape it was on release. Hopefully Tal can help right the ship at Bioware.

Hopefully Tal can help right the ship at Bioware. I think his remarks were directed primarily at the folks who made the scenes he was involved with, such as the Cora sex scene. He may have done the animation part, but you also need designers, cinematics, audio, and others to bring the entire sequence together. That being said, I think we can all agree we'd like to see improvement going forward. I doubt even BioWare wants a repeat of the wonky animations in MEA.
