Same-Gender Romances for the Mass Effect trilogy

For the record, so far it's working great. Haven't had a problem, Liara acknowledges Kaidan as someone special, and Ash has totally backed off. Haven't gone to Ilos yet so can't comment on the romance scene.

Out of curiosity, how does this impact imports on the next two games?

It's awesome to hear you're still working on this, bravo! I won't be doing any homosexual romances, but it's still great that cut content is being restored.

That's really impressive. Think you'll dive into the challenge of bringing back the Tali/Miranda femShep romances, or are you going to stick with just the Virmire pair?

That's fair, the toolset for ME2 is sadly underdeveloped, which is a shame as in many ways it has the greatest room for expansion due to the lack of genocide hanging over the galaxy . Even so, even by editing Ashley and Kaidan, you're doing great work. I'll have to install your mod sometime. Hopefully you will install mine if I ever get the next part out

Amazing!  Going to have to install it and see it for myself, though I maybe have to complete ME2 and then ME3 before that happens.  Still, I have Backoff installed and waiting for me in ME3, which is supposed to add some depth to romances in general, including s/s.  I checked it out with a completed run and it's interesting how the dialogue has been separated out to make it clear if you're seeking romance or friendship.

Glad I can dance with Kaidan.  I've never been able to dance with anyone in ME1!!  I was never bothered by bisexual Kaidan but neither will the absence of his "art appreciation" bother me.

The reason for the change was because Kaidan doesn't tell FemShep about his attraction to Liara (instead, he only says "She seems nice enough"). I edited the dialogue so it includes MaleShep under certain conditions, rather than having it be needlessly gender-locked.

There's some unused audio for the romances in ME2 and ME3. Not nearly as much as in ME1, but still some. I'll try to restore as much of it as I can, but there definitely are conversations and dialogue that won't be available for the same-sex romances due to missing audio and/or facial animations.

The ME2 mod will most likely include an edit for the email, as well as fixes for the post-Horizon conversations with Joker and Kelly. Also, I think I may have figured out what exactly was causing the Genesis DLC to stop when importing a same-sex Ash/Kaidan romance, so I might be able to include a fix for it that will also allow Shepard to choose Ashley or Kaidan as same-sex options in new ME2 playthroughs with the DLC.

I'm pretty happy with the current state of the mod. There might be some more minor changes/fixes, but probably nothing major for a long time at least.

The ME3 mod will prevent unvoiced dialogue from playing by using dialogue with existing audio instead. For example, when visiting a romanced Kaidan in the hospital, MaleShep will say the default "Hey, Kaidan" instead of the unvoiced line. The other fix would be to the Presidium date scene, so that Kaidan will remember his past relationship with MaleShep instead of using the "new romance" dialogue by default.

And no problem!

Just a quick update: almost all of the initial work for the ME3 mod has been completed. Now all that's really left is testing everything and making sure it all works properly, and I have no idea how long that's going to take.
