Hai Guyz, I just finished the game, and I am wondering how the Angara and Kett manage to be at roughly the same level of technology as the Milky Way colonists. Earth took about 4 billion years to go from a single called organism to a human. In the first 3 games, this is explained by way of the reapers, who keep a level playing field by destroying all life every 50,000 years. Also, the humans supposedly found some Prothean technology on Mars that accelerated their advancement to the levels of the other races.
However, The Colonists are supposedly using 600 year old tech from another Galaxy. How are they on roughly the same level as the Angara and Kett? I say roughly because everyone has space travel but uses line of sight fire arms.

The Kett and Angaran are less evolved than the Milky Way Species, if we got 10 turian Battlecruiser with us we could whipe out the whole Kett flett in this Cluster. But DNA manipulating the Kett are far more evolved than all other Species we ever known.

Whatever advancements the angara might have made were nullified several hundred years prior to the events of MEA when the Scourge hit. Also, we learn that they were created by the Jardaan and are in fact very young for a civilization. As for the kett, they have an empire spanning beyond Heleus, with the cluster being somewhat isolated by the Scourge causing communication problems and/or the Archon's unwilingness to report back, so it's entirely possible they are more advanced than we've seen so far.
There's still the matter of the Jardaan, whether they are friend or foe, and what their relation to the kett is, if any. Could be they kept such a highly antagonistic race in check, or maybe the 'Opposition' that deployed the Scourge was a rogue faction that created the kett too? Probably best to move this to the spoiler forum

Life could have begun far later, or evolution could have been a long time underway reaching intelligence.
What I'd rather have seen, was more "new races", specially of the primitive(r) kind, and we could either choose to fight or "uplift" them, in style how the Krogans were. I'm one of those who hate the Angaran "pretty-much-human-but-snek-liek" design. Sooo emotionally deep, except, not - they're excactly like humans.
Wouldn't have minded being "out-teched" and scrambling to achieve/learn from it to survive, either.

Probably best to move this to the spoiler forum So in Other words.... The Milky way had the Reapers and Protheans equalize the technology levels somewhat, by way of mass genocide. The humans uncovered prothean tech on Mars, which helped them catch up to the other spacefaring races who had been exploring the Galaxy for 1,000+ Years(Cora mentioned that the Asari had been spacefaring since the beginning of the ROman EMpire). Andromeda on the other hand, Has Kett and Jardaan, which from what little we know about them may have also caused some equality in technology levels.
Is there anywhere in the lore that states how long the Kett have been antagonizing the Angara? There are Kett outposts, but no Kett colonies per se.

Because it's a game.
Seriously.
Having one race be vastly more advanced than another wouldn't make for very compelling gameplay. Sometimes it's best to not overthink these things.

*snip* Is there anywhere in the lore that states how long the Kett have been antagonizing the Angara? There are Kett outposts, but no Kett colonies per se. Not to be rude or anything... But did you listen to anything most of the Angara had to say about the kett? Different Angara have different times, but it all ranges from around 75-80 years before the events of ME:A that the kett showed up.

I've seen people in the old BSN debate whether or not Batarians have body hair. Isn't the point of a forum is to discuss, debate, and overthink every detail of the story and game? Also look at the history of North and South America. The Europeans were probably 2,000-4,000 years ahead of the Colonizing Europeans. As for the Angarans, A few mentioned Kett kidnapping people as children, but rarely mention anything pertaining to number of years. I don't even remember if Jaal gave any indication as to his age(or any mention of Angaran lifespan).

They were there for DNA. The Archon however got so obsessed with understanding the Remnant that he disobeyed all orders and blocked out outgoing communications to the higher up Ketts.

I've just seen way too many of these kinds of threads devolve into "shit writing" or other such nonsense. Especially the last couple of releases. Overthink and debate and noodle all you want. I won't stop ya! I'm just a little salty at some of the nonsense I see entirely too often here, tbh. I'll just take my leave. Edit: Accidentally forgot to add this bit. Watch this video, starting at approximately 1:50 in. Jaal specifically mentions "around 80 years" for when the kett arrived. *tips hat*

Much Obliged, I somehow missed this scene the first time through. I also thought that Aya was the home world instead of Havarl. Which to me, along with the Kett forces being blown up by the giant automated planet towards the end , would imply that the Kett are significantly less advanced. Come to think of it, why didn't the Kett just blow up the Nexus? It was there for 14 months.

Which to me, along with the Kett forces being blown up by the giant automated planet towards the end , would imply that the Kett are significantly less advanced. Come to think of it, why didn't the Kett just blow up the Nexus? It was there for 14 months. In terms of my earlier comment, the Kett didn't blow up the Nexus 'cause then we wouldn't have a game. In terms of overthinking and debating though, I'd say this. Until the Hyperion arrived and DadRyder activated the Hab 7 atmo processor, the Nexus just simply wasn't worth the Archon's time. His whole goal was to exalt the Angara, and he was obsessed with Remnant technology because if he could figure out how the whole thing worked, he could turn all the planets in the cluster to wastelands. Anyone living there would be forced to accept exaltation or die. That's why he started gaining a larger and larger interest in Ryder through out the game, eventually using Ryder's connection to SAM to force the issue and try to co-opt Meridian for his purposes.
