You guys are all just arguing semantics now. I don't think anyone here is really disagreeing anymore. Just beating a dead horse at this point. In any case, more sexy outfits for my video games in general is better.

Well, if the setting tells us that all girls wear stockings, I'd prefer that all boys have shirts opened on their chests. If all girls have flowing locks, all boys would have luxurious hair too. All girls look achingly beautiful, then all boys would look ruggedly handsome. Just as long as it is not too skewed one way or another so much that it is very obvious.

Well, its silly in general I suppose. To the point about Ciri and Yen in Witcher I thought their outfits were fine. Miranada's outfit would have been fine if she had covered the exposed skin when in vacuum. Jack's was pushing it.

I hate Jack's default outfit, the pasties suspenders look ridiculous. I like the vest you can give her after her loyalty mission.

Thanks. Does it break down by genre and game type? Does it account for app games and indie games as well as the AAA titles we are discussing here?

Oh, we are a minority, but we are a sizeable one, about 30% in RPGs, sometimes a bit higher, sometimes a bit lower. It is certainly no longer rare. There is no reason not to look for it to be closer to 50-50 like in other types of games. Why not? It is an active and engaging form of entertainment, it really does not have anything inherently masculine about it, and a great hobby to share for couples, etc.

I was not disputing numbers, just majority, and that I think most modern games are still made with a male player base in mind (although I think that is changing).

Theres much much more, but it's best to just say it's a near 50/50 split when it comes to what gender makes up the majority of gamers as it's that close. I only bring it up since you say males make up the most of gamers. Thanks. Does it break down by genre and game type? Does it account for app games and indie games as well as the AAA titles we are discussing here? Here's an article I read a while ago. I can't verify their data, but given that they're a videogame data aggregate by trade, I'd say they're financially obligated to provide good data. They also talk a good talk. quanticfoundry.com/2017/01/19/female-gamers-by-genre/This is the breakdown among genre according to them: Intuitively, this strikes me as correct. In fact, it specifically notes that Inquisition has an unusually high female player base (48% as opposed to 26%). For a shooter like Mass Effect, though, it's likely a lot lower, but given that it's BioWare, it's probably much higher than average.

I admit I am going off some of what I have read or heard from Gamergate supporters like Sargon of Akkad, who seems to define gamer in an almost excluseivly male fashion, and see a broadening of the definition of what a game or gamer is as a threat.

Their games are really atypical in many ways.

Oh, it is changing. it is not something you can or need to force, and sometimes ladies friendly features are a bit silly, like "girlfriend" classes in MMOs, but honestly, the ultimate game is where you are so engrossed, you'll not be cringing, no matter if you are a boy or a girl playing it. Sure, it's hard, but I figure if I am asking for something, might as well ask for something awesome.

Girlfriend classes? one thing I'd note in general of the industry is you are starting to see (not really starting, it's been going on for few years now) is that female protagonists are becoming more common. Tomb raider reboot, beyond two souls, ME3 fem shep gained some traction, HZD protagonist (can't remember her name), CoD actually giving you a choice in SP for M/F character, etc etc. not sure if that's a cause that helps the female gamers number grow, but I'd imagine it helps give them someone to relate to. by the way Erickson, that dude posted the exact graph I would've posted.

Thank you. Why is she even relevant? I don't think she is relevant right now? Shes made relevant by you idiots posting her stuff everywhere to trot out her perceived horribleness and misery because you dont share her opinion (and it seems impossible to just fucking ignore her because someone has to drag it up again and again?..)? Seriously people cant let it rest ffs.

Yeah, usually a healer class, with a cute pet to summon, fairily easy to play, sometimes locked into loli females. They get fans or umbrellas or bells or ribbons or whatever as their weapons. So when that boy finally meets a girl, and she demands to join in, he can say "oh, look, why don't you heal me maybe while I DPS/tank?" or just watch her navigate to the class on her own, cause kawaii. Happy end. But the ease of playing those classes and how cute they are kinda make them overpopulated now. Heh. MMOs... such a peculiar world.

I don't know about other such games, but that's a liberal estimate for R6: Siege, I've put hundreds of hours into that game and can't remember ever hearing a single female voice on the mic. Curious about what's the percentage when it comes to more niche games like shmups and other such old time genres. It wouldn't surprise me if it's lower than the percentage for sports games.

To be fair, Ciri running around in high heeled boots as a sworswoman is rather silly. They are clearly there to be sexy, and I say this as someone who loves Criri and her look.[/quote] Yeah the boots is a little silly and as someone said it is a representation of what she was wearing on the book. Also dont forget that she is not just a swordswoman but the most powerful magi in this universe even untrained. The sword becomes just accessory. Except her heels nothing about her outfit is sexy. She is certainly not showing anything. Although, from all that running away in tw3, she really should have put that sword to good use and chop off her heels.
