Yeah, a lot of those conversations can make no sense either depending on who Shepard took on the squad. I often can't remember who I took on individual missions so it took me awhile to notice that they said the same thing regardless of whether or not they had actually been taken on those mission. I still think though that "joined up with Shepard" implies something different. I do think the conversation in the elevator is a writing error... or maybe a coding one. They might have intended to prevent that line from triggering during the first visit to the Citadel and just overlooked it when coding it. There are other lines that trigger only after certain events... like the news report on Kohoku's death. Another thing that doesn't make sense though... Shepard can ask Anderson about Kohoku after Kohoku's dead - Shepard will still just ask if Anderson knows where he can find him and Anderson will still say that he thinks he's in the tower asking about his men. The first time I activated that option after just hearing about Kohoku's death in the elevator was rather confusing since I was expecting Shepard to tell Anderson about Kohoku's death instead of asking where he could find him. I think that's just a goofup. I think it's supposed to naturally play out with finding Dr. Michel first, learning about Banes, asking Michel about Banes, and then you go to Anderson for confirmation...who tells you about Kahoku. Either that or just instantly running into the Admiral yourself. But I've had that odd dialogue sequence before as well. I like it playing out that other way above. It stays an option to ask Anderson about Kohoku right through to the end of the game... i.e. when Anderson can be found in Ambassador Udina's office when you return to the Citadel after first leaving (not when he's out in the Normandy docks at the end of the first visit). Shepard can also ask about Feros, Noveria, and Artemis Tau... but those options do disappear once the mission is done. For some reason, the one asking about Kohoku's whereabouts doesn't disappear... even after Kohoku is dead... so, I agree, it is just a coding error. (Of course, that's only referring to my experience on the Xbox 360... no guarantees it works the same way on the PS or PC systems).

Leviathan has been on that planet for however long. Why didn't they make any attempt to warn the cycle of the reapers? They were able to control the folks in the mining facility for 10 years. So why not use them to warn of the reapers? As long as the Reapers don't discover their existence, the Leviathan don't really care. Everyone else is a "lesser" species to them anyway. The Leviathan only seem to involve themselves enough to have thralls cover up their existence, keep them appraised of the state of the galaxy and run the odd experiment. They don't warn anyone because of indifference, but also because they know that the Reapers have their own agents in the galaxy keeping tabs on things as well, such as Sovereign. Any attempt to disrupt the Cycle could not only reveal their continued existence, but probably trigger the Reapers being prematurely awakened for an early Harvest, leading to the Reapers scourging any ocean world they found to wipe them out for good. They've been watching the Cycles since the first, so we can assume that if they've tried to interfere before, it hasn't ever been successful.

I always wished there was some comment about a dead Kahoku myself. Same with Virmire and the dead squaddie. You don't get much comment until ME2... when you see Anderson has a photo of them on their desk (and even that is bugged lol.. Sometimes it only shows Kaidan no matter what).

Yeah they're useless just like their parents or whoever who came up with the idea to create dumb dumb to solve a problem

These are the same guys who tried to claim to Shepard that the Catalyst - despite turning on them - was performing exactly as intended. They refused to accept they screwed up royally, even though they've been spending the last billion years in the briny deep, sharing a condo with SpongeBob. The depths of denial they exhibit over their circumstances and role in their own downfall, is matched only by the oceans they reside in. The Leviathan may have been despotic God-Emperors who created the Catalyst to micromanage their galactic empire, but no-one ever accused them of being all that smart.

Well, I'm not really arguing against myself. By this point, Shepard has become a Spectre. That means he's already going to have ability to operate on his own and have his own team. He may not know the specifics but he knows something has to be put together. He doesn't know whether or not he's going to be on the Normandy anymore since he's technically just been moved from Alliance operative to Council operative. And, now that you've cited it, I realize I have seen that conversation. Just don't remember the "Commander Shepard" part. That's an error in writing then because Shepard was unconscious when Ashley was made a part of the Normandy crew. No, he has not become a spectre yet when he recruits Tali. He's just acquired the evidence from her, but they haven't yet gone to present that evidence to the Council. It's after they present the evidence that Shepard becomes a spectre. Maybe I'm misremembering but I thought he only brought Tali to Udina to present the evidence but didn't actually recruit her until after they went to the Council. Once they go to the Council he's a Spectre.

Once they go to the Council he's a Spectre. Right after the conversation with Anderson about taking the evidence to the Council ends, one of the squad you had with you in the alley while rescuing Tali will ask "What about her, the Quarian?" to which Tali will reply "My name is Tali. You saw me in the alley, Commander. You know what I can do. Let me come with you." Shepard can then ask "I thought you were on your pilgrimage." or recruit Tali directly... but the whole conversation with her does take place before you leave Udina's office to go to the Tower to present the evidence on Saren to the Council.

Playing again through ME3 now, and I have to wonder why Steve has to be so prominent on N7 missions. They make 20 characters and then overload side missions with this guy? It's already bad enough that I have to deal with Vega's stupid ass. What a waste. I like Cortez, but it's too much, and too little of everything else. I don't even know why he even comments on some of these. Like N7 Fuel Reactors. Is he flying around the complex, surveying the interior with heat signatures? I'm using a shuttle pilot to coordinate ground missions. WTF is that? Not to mention repairs, flight, armory, and running the shops. You could have had more N7 team members like Riley involved.. or better yet, some of your old crew. And I still save him btw. I won't hold too much against Steve himself

They really limited themselves to telling their story to just a handful of ways. I may not have a problem with the basic structure of the story itself... but playing again is reminding me how overused a few characters are.

The Reapers' strategy for Tuchanka: Why only send one reaper to Tuchanka, which sits there doing nothing, if the Krogan are such a threat? They have hundreds on Earth of which basically all of the Alliance military power there is destroyed already, but they only send one to Tuchanka.
Plus, why didn't the Reaper fly up in the air and shoot the Thresher Maw with its red beam of doom? Surely the Reaper would know it was there, considering the ground must have been shaking.

Krogan have no ships of their own so they are planet-bound unless someone else airlifts them out of there. There's only 1 working shroud left so only 1 ship is needed to guard it/use it to poison the air. Reaper ground troops can keep anyone away. Whether poisoning the air would actually kill the krogan is another story.
Did the ship shoot at Kalros? I don't recall but she could just head underground and approach from there, which she did. Despite their immense size, thresher maws are pretty fast and flexible, more so than a reaper ship, I think, while on the ground.

Reminds me of a Londo/Morden conversation in Babylon 5. Londo says, "Yes, your ships are very impressive while in the air, or in space. But right now, they are on the ground." They go boom real good when you blow them up with nukes. Or, in this case, with thresher maws. Where is that gun, anyway?

The same reason why they didn't go to the Citadel at the beginning The same reason why the destroyer didn't fire horizontally at Shepard instead of vertically. The same with the destroyer on Rannoch The same reason why the reapers didn't shutoff the beam in London The same reason why the destroyer didn't fire at the Normandy instead of firing at the two shuttles The same reason why Harbinger didn't fire at the Normandy during the what-the-crap evac scene The same reason why they didn't have a destroyer in London instead of having the Hades Cannon. For all the power the reapers have, they are stupid. But then again, they had to be stupid for Shepard and the galaxy to have any chance to destroy them.

Speaking of which, the Citadel itself is an overused asset.. like I said about Cortez. Why are there so many scenes there. It makes sense in ME1 and 2 a bit (and even 2 spread it out), but not here.

I just finished playing ME1. I went to Therum after completing Virmire. After learning the conduit is at Ilos, I went and talked with Ashley. Shepard mentions to her if the council will believe anything he says. Ashley responded that they have their suit recordings. Why wouldn't Shepard present those recordings to the council?

If ems is above 2600, the game will show reapers being destroyed on THessia and Tuchanka, but if below 2600, those scenes are not seen. I wonder why?

Probably because their relays ruptured, and there are no survivors on either side. If that's the case, why show Samara and her daughter on Thessia? Why show the krogan on Tuchanka especially if the genophage is cured? I understand if ems is below 1750 and destroy is chosen, but between 1750 - 2600, it shouldn't make a difference.
