I want to figure this out but would prefer to avoid being facegrinded by Husks or at the mercy of a time limit.

Haven't tried it because I never felt the need for it (after all, Insanity is a joke when you've done a lot of silver MP-Games). But I think things like trying to use a power on cooldown or doing a dodge-roll might still work. Try it out and tell us if it works

You can. Its a mechanic of the game's engine. Technically its been around since ME2.

Step 1. Go to the Citadel if not already there (We know who the game just loves for Shepard to go there. All. The. Fking. Time) Step 2. Go to Embassies. Step 3. Go to Spectre Offices. Step 4. Go to Firing Range. Step 5. Git gud at gun stuff. Step 6. Finish Insanity Playthrough. Step 7. Go to MP, find out that Insanity is a joke, and that you are a scrub. Step 8. Curl up on the floor. Step 9. Try not to cry. Step ?. Cry anyway.

You can, but doing it with the medigel button on PC is very inconvenient.

Spend 1 point on any grenade (in SP they suck anyway) --> Map the button --> throw the nade --> Profit.
Reload-canceling the Claymore + Adrenaline's time dilation was pure dope. Mind that Claymore was 50% stronger over the most powerful Sniper Rifle (that would be the Widow).
...Why SP though? Want to relive the magic ME3 was?

I understand it's harder on PC than console unless you have a gaming mouse. I think I did successfully reload cancel exactly once with the Arc Pistol last night by hitting the medigel button as soon as I heard the click.
I understand you can do it with powers too; any advice on which, if any are better "interrupts" for the reload cancel?

IMO, easiest is claymore with juggernaut's siege pulse. Timing is perfect in most cases unless you have extreme lag. Just shoot and immediately fire SP. Claymore magically reloads itself. But generally, medigel is more reliable unless you have extreme lag (usually over 200 msec).

If you reload cancel with a mouse (which I do - I do it with a mouse wheel click) the RC will be a bit slower, so you (and I) will never reach the uber 1337 status And although I can reload cancel with a keyboard - I never bothered to do it for long.

I have a Logitech G303, before that a G400, before that an MX518. I reload cancel/gel with the back thumb button, ops pack is front thumb button. You don't need 12 buttons on your thumb, that shit's clunky.

In single place I just press the SPACE key for reload canceling. It feels a little clunky compared to pressing the medi-gel key as we are used to doing in Multiplayer, but well, it does the trick. It works quite well with the Claymore.

I haven't really touched the single player game for like 2 years and I don't have it installed here to test it, but I am pretty sure that I was reload cancelling the Claymore by pressing the SPACE bey.

Hmm, maybe you remapped it, but since the SPACE is also an omni-key, maybe it still has some hidden functionality left. Interesting.

I know there is one at the top where you can drop the power shortcuts. Space is for running and cover and that.

I'm confused, it's been ages since I played Single Player The keys are just the same except you can order the squaddies with keys I don't remember and pause with the key I suppose it is shift. The transition of space bar usage between ME1 and ME2 - now that is something different.

I want to figure this out but would prefer to avoid being facegrinded by Husks or at the mercy of a time limit. RC works just like in MP. It might consume the medigel, though for healing - I'm not sure. But sprint and power cancel work just fine.

In ME3, Spacebar is default for the One-Button-to-rule-them-all - Left Shift brings up the powers bar and pauses the game. It was exactly the other way round in ME1 - that's what messed me up badly when going to ME2 from ME1.
For MP, I like to remap my hotkeys for consumables to be able to reach them quick enough. As Q and E have no function in MP, I remap Medigel to Q and Ops Pack to E for instant access and comfortable reload-canceling. Just have to rebind them for Single Player.
