I actually like Peebee. Sacrilege I know A lot of people ended up liking Peebee. She's sort of like this game's Vega, in that she was a frequent target of fan criticism before the game released but once in game a lot of players ended up liking her more than they initially thought they would.

Wouldn't that sort of defeat the purpose? If they're squad members, they're no longer equals; they're subordinates under the human pathfinder and cease to be pathfinders themselves. Not necessarily. The Pathfinding job turned out to be a hefty one indeed. Having them cooperate in order to increase the odds wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea.
And they don't need to be subordinates, exactly, Ryder merely commands the Tempest but has no direct authority over them.
I don't think having them all under one roof really increases odds. The point is that they're all individually leaders of a scouting team. It would be better if they each had their own group under their command on their own ships to really take on the role. Even if Ryder has no direct authority over them to the capacity of Nexus leadership, without their own command or ship to really facilitate their Pathfinder duties, they're kind of just standing around in there with their thumbs up their butts.

It was true for me with both of them, though I ended up liking Vega more than Peebee. I thought Vega's personality wasn't what most people expected from his character design, and I generally enjoyed his humor and interaction with Shepard, Garrus, and Javik. I played as male Shep though, it must be said. Loco is an easier nickname to tolerate than Lola.

Peebee is what Liara should've been like in the first place, not the socially immature virginal school girl that she was in ME1. I have to agree. I was never a big fan of Liara in ME1, I only thought she as good to see again in ME2 for the novelty of rediscovering fictional characters that recognized they were part of my player-story across 2 games and then LotSB was amazing, making me want to take the plunge and romance her. PeeBee on the other hand I actually like in the game she's featured in and while she does get off on the wrong foot by being a Liara 2.0 character her actual traits and characterization strikes me as more interesting. I strongly dislike how PeeBee's anti-asariness never reveals anything particularly interesting about the Asari however. In general I think this game served as almost a character assassination to that race because of how they don't feel like aliens anymore. PeeBee should've been the only one to serve that role but then Lexi is also british and had a physicist job when she could've been some form of personal consort specializing in aliens instead. I get that much like the Inquisition was an escape to allow for unity through diversity in a world with archaic norms and the AI can be the same but for alien races to abandon their heritage together with other aliens to become more free in spirit, but this game sometimes felt like "diveristy gone wrong" in regards to how bastardized the aliens were. The accent problems plague the game in general. They hired diverse well known voice talent and slapped them on characters that didn't have a matching voice identity with Lexi and Tann but also the Angara range from australian to british or jamaican. It does not make the aliens feel alien, it actually makes them too human and it puts a hole in the "humans are special for being so diverse" trope that started to emerge with ME2.

Not for me. First time I saw her, I couldn't stop laughing. When I heard that she's not a team player, I knew she would be a bench warmer on the ship. When I played the game, I wanted an option to not recruit her. Later on I wanted an option to kick her off the ship for what happened with the escape pod.

Additionally SAM renders having her on the crew for her "remnant expertise" pointless within a minute of meeting her. She states you already know more about remnant tech than she's learned in months of being on the planet. She sat in the escape pod for vast majority of my play-through. I didn't even bother with her loyalty missions.

I rather liked Liara in ME1. I thought of her as a sheltered academic that was very shy and socially awkward. I totally related to her. Peebee is kind of annoying but when she cuts the bullcrap, she's not too bad to talk to. Cora, I just want to 'accidentally' lower the nomad on her when she's airing up the tires. Embrace Michelin, bitch.

Embrace Michelin, bitch. I felt the same way about Liara as well. Her progression from that humble start to a confident character was enjoyable to watch, even if everything between one and two happens off screen which is a real shame as most will not know what took place. A pity really. Peebee I ended up liking and found her to be no where near as insufferable and pointless as Sera from Dragon Age: Inquisition. Her quirky personality leads to some hilarious exchanges between characters. I particularly liked her as you progress through her romance, she actually comes off as kind of cute. There is more there to be explored and more than people think if they can get over the rough start. In regards to her being useless, that is not her fault as a character but the fault of the gameplay and writing overly relying on SAM. Had SAM been killed off the game would have been better overall. Best thing they could do is in DLC or the second game is off him and let the characters face the challenges as they should.

Sure, I can see both sides.
Consider, having an N7 lead a bunch of less qualified soldiers on a mission, Vs. having an entire team of N7s. Both have their own advantages.
I don't think it's the same. One N7 leading group of other N7 would definitely more efficient than with group of less experienced people. True. But the difference is in their designated tasks. N7s role is different from pathfinders. Pathfinders are... well, here to explore and path find? I sound like Adison What I mean is, it seems more logical for Pathfinders to spread, not to work in group, since this way they can cover more ground.

Well, I think Cora had some serious mental problems. Her constant talking about her time as a huntress shows that she struggels to find a new role. She always looks to others to tell her what to do. Towards the end of the game she finds her role and ackknowledges her problems. It was a believable transformation. That makes her interresting in my opinion. But hey, that means you have to actually think about the character. I dunno if i'd call being immature and having a mild existential crises a serious mental problem, compared to well i don't know, Schizophrenia or PTSD, but whatever. But you're right everyone who doesn't find her issues and journey interesting or endearing must've missed it.

I'm not sure you could really swap Cora and Peebee's characters particularly easily. Cora's fascination with the asari ties into her specific struggle to find a personal acceptance that she never felt around humans, which in turn leads to her taking the trip to Andromeda. Making Peebee the huntress would mean losing all of that other character stuff and kind of turn her into 'just a huntress'. I suppose you could feasibly just give Peebee's personality to Cora, but again, you would at the very least have to redesign the character model so it better reflected that. Peebee's feelings toward other asari also couldn't be replicated as a one to one analogy with Cora and humans either.
I just don't think there's much to be gained with a swap.

But nevermind. Let's agree to disagree on Cora

It's also easy to judge people you've never met about their experiences and assuming people who don't agree with you just don't get it. But it seems like i hurt your feelings indirectly by slamming Cora with hyperbole for shits and giggles so sorry, that was unintentional.

Looking back at Liara, it was really weird just how devoid of fizz the writers made her in ME1. She was total subdued waifu in the medbay closet. ME2 and 3 ultimately made sticking with her the whole way through more rewarding, but ME1 alone was pretty flat. Yet some how, people think ME1 character are better then MEA character. Nostalgia can change the world.

She's sort of like this game's Vega, in that she was a frequent target of fan criticism before the game released but once in game a lot of players ended up liking her more than they initially thought they would. +1 I was skeptical or indifferent about Vega prior to ME3's release, but then he became one of my two squadmates of choice(the other being Javik) in that game.
