Anthem Twitter Thread

I'm using Chrome. I just double checked and you're right, it does show as you posted it in his main feed, but if you click on the tweet itself to isolate it, the "Electronic Arts" shifts to the bottom, so it's definitely not a conscious part of his tweet. I don't pretend to know why that tag would be there, it's just like I said, where it appears pretty significantly changes the tone. People have enough real (or imagined) grievances with EA without false "forces employees to work during hurricanes" narratives caused by a simple misunderstanding because of some weird Twitter function. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That's all.

Sorry, I really didn't mean to derail the thread with this. But in this new age of everything being "fake news", I'm a bit of a stickler for clarity.

I'd expect an info blackout on Anthem while Destiny 2 drops, and probably for at least a month after that. D2 releases September 6.

Especially after MEA's post-launch debacle.

Honestly, I think the timing of original Anthem reveal was largely about having something to turn the (largely negative) attention away from MEA.

If MEA had been a big success for BW, I'm guessing we wouldn't have heard a peep about Anthem until sometime after N7 Day at least. Probably not before the Game Awards (or later). There's still ~15 months before launch, they have all kinds of time to ramp up the hype.

Again, I don't really expect to see anything substantial until the Game Awards. Maybe something minor between now and then... maybe. Now that they've got the ball rolling.

I'm honestly not expecting anything sizable until E3 2018...


Pax Prime is this weekend and they've said nothing. So I'm not sure really what other big event would call for a trailer.

i don't think so? unless you count the entirety of MEA a stealth anthem test since it has jetpacks and guns and multiplayer microtransactions

I acknowledge that the timing is suggestive, but it doesn't ring true to me. I think they are playing for bigger stakes and the timing was more about Destiny 2's PR ramp-up. Earliest hint about D2 seems to have been in March and Anthem was revealed in July, so that's enough time to put the demo together and showcase it at the Microsoft thing, just close enough to the September D2 release to steal some thunder, or ride some coat tails, take your pick.
