We don't know that it will make an appearance. We only know that EA gave March 2018 as a release date, which makes this the last E3/EA Play before release, so it stands to reason that there will be some sort of reveal even if it has minimal details. We'd get one or two screenshots as 'subliminal message' on some EA presentation video

Don't think they've done an E3/EA Play without something Bioware related, and not sure they are working on anything else that is ready to be revealed. Whatever happened to that idea tweeted out from Darrah about a Dragon Age tactics game? Something like Xcom or Fire Emblem. Maybe that's what Austin is working on. Found the tweet!

Honestly, I have no idea what the DA Tactics can possibly be, but the possibility of a "mobile/handheld" means it's probably not something I would play, lol. Never played a game on a mobile save for sending the strike teams out, and I can't say I like it.

We haven't heard anything since the poll went up. But if they did decide to move forward with DA Tactics game, my guess is that they would have another studio produce it. One that actually has experience with strategy games. IIRC, EA closed their strategy game division, but it's not to say they couldn't have created a new one. It's possible they could look outside of EA as well (Failbetter Games being an example of that)...

I understand that this is to give the game more time and avoid the problems Andromeda have, which is fine by me. But I hope we still get to see a trailer for the game, because I'm still curious as fuck.

Ashe ladyinsanity Reason added for moving #BioWare new IP to FY 2019 is the desire to "want to further develop the live service component". Ability Drain abilitydrain Maybe it's another MMO? Or Overwatch type thing? Ashe ladyinsanityIt's a cooperative action title, so Destiny or The Division is a safer bet. MMO in this age is way too risky.

Polygon: BioWare’s new game delayed past March 2018www.polygon.com/2017/5/9/15600638/bioware-new-ip-delayEA CEO Andrew Wilson made the delay announcement this afternoon during an investor call for the end of the company’s 2017 fiscal year. Three months ago, on a call for fiscal Q3 2017, Wilson said EA expected BioWare to release the game by the end of March 2018, the conclusion of EA’s 2018 fiscal year. That means this delay could be as little as a few weeks or — more likely — anywhere from a number of months to a whole year.
In January, Wilson described the project as an “action-adventure, not RPG” title, although he said the game will still have plenty of RPG-style character progression. Today he reiterated that it will be a “live service,” which suggests it could resemble games like Bungie’s Destiny or Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s The Division in its setup. Blake Jorgensen, EA’s chief financial officer, hinted that the online component contributed to the delay. “We want to further develop the live service component,” he said during today’s investor call.

So when the game comes out it will have been in development like 6 - 7 years? That is crazy. I mean it has to be great and pay off for that kind of risk. They could've made a new Dragon Age by now and that would have been a guaranteed financial success. I'm nervous!

DA:O took a little over 6 years to develop. I think the creation of New IP (in general) is important though, even if this specific game doesn't sound like it's for me. But yeah, no question it's a risk, especially given the costs of game development these days. It's curious though why we're hearing about a delay now, a full 10 months ahead of their original release date. If they know it's going to take longer at this point, there must be some significant hurtle/scope creep/etc. in this project. I'm thinking this isn't going to be a small delay.

Didn't they state before that we should expect the game around March 2018, which is the very end of their fiscal year? I mean, it'd seem like they were really pushing it with release date, but the snag they've encountered is just too big for Bioware to make it in time.

I mean, it'd seem like they were really pushing it with release date, but the snag they've encountered is just too big for Bioware to make it in time. Yeah, they were saying ~March 2018. Typically, you won't hear about a game being delayed until a few weeks to a couple of months before release. If they're delaying it now, it means that they know they can't make the usual adjustments to their development (cut content, etc.) to be able to make that deadline, even looking 10 months ahead. So it has to be something significant, something they know they can't triage their way around... DA:O took a little over 6 years to develop. I think the creation of New IP (in general) is important though, even if this specific game doesn't sound like it's for me. I'm curious about what this means for the online component. I'm concerned EA decided the online component was insufficient and demanded Bioware expand it. Yeah, feature creep is a real possibility. Someone from mothership (or even BioWare) suddenly getting an idea mid-development that the New IP has to have this/these new features. Maybe seeing something in another game they'd like to implement. I imagine that has to be a real temptation with games that have long dev cycles.

Fair enough. This whole 'live component' thing is pretty much killing any interest or anticipation I have for the title. Really could not be less interested in that sort of thing. Will wait and see, though. If nothing else, we'll always have the time everyone went nuts looking for a guy wearing a t-shirt
