Andreas @kamikazeswede @gamblemike Hi Mike, have you guys released recommended specifications for Anthem yet? I haven't been able to find any info about it.
Michael Gamble @gamblemike This will happen very very soon. If not already.

Seems a catch-22, doesn't it? If Anthem fails, Bioware's probably on the chopping block. If it's a roaring success, it changes most Bioware games from now on (probably for the worse). If it's middling, EA will double down on exploitative monetization and push back and infect DA ME and TOR even further. Nothing the consumer does here benefits Bioware.
Kind of contradictory. If it's a success, how can it change things for the worse in general?
If it's a success, that proves it's doing things RIGHT.
Just because it's not doing things in accordance with your point of view, does it mean that it's making things worse.
Remember, keep an open mind, And be skeptical of reviews until you have played it for yourself! That is the only way of getting to an adult stand point.

Because they don't want to guarantee supporting issues on that OS perhaps?

That or some contractual issue, helping pushing a new videocard/OS to the consumers via the game requirements. The new Nvidia trailer was pretty much this.

Because they don't want to support issues on Win 7. It also means that they haven't bothered testing the game on it much so expect the game to be unstable on Win 7 and them not caring about it because it's not supported even if the game runs on it.

It's also worth noting that MS will stop supporting Win 7 on January 14, 2020. So this is not unexpected.

Thats a bit strange also because the OS has a bit over a year of support left... ? Well, I'll be trying to run it anyway.

Three/Four examples of massive "successes" that have changed the gaming industry for the undeniable WORSE.
The mobile games revolution: The amount of money those bloody pieces of crap make off of microtransations engendered such a level of green-eyed jealousy in the AAA market that exploitation has now come to be expected out of almost every major publisher, and basic common decency (you know: the BASELINE for how companies should behave) is now lauded as something revolutionary.
GTA Online: Oh my god where do I even BEGIN. That thing, that STUPID unfun grindathon of a pay-to-win mess has made more money than ANY OTHER MEDIA FRANCHISE IN OUR HISTORY. And it's convinced every other single major publisher to follow suit on the "live service" trend that has NO F'ING BUSINESS being in full price $60 games.
Overwatch: The rampant sales of Lootboxes and gambling mechanics that have infected the industry are getting governmental regulations involved. How bad must those be for blooddy pro-corporate America to look at that and say: "Hey, that's too far. Reign it in, or we'll MAKE you."
Pubg/Fortnite: Again the sheer amount of money those games rake in from post-purchase monetization has saturated the market with copycats and negatively impacted the quality of franchises that are just jumping on the badwagon hoping to taste a FRACTION of that profit.
And finally: EA has a habit of taking its "success" stories and learning the absolute WRONG thing to do for their next big release. Closing down studios for the crime of focusing on single-player. Doubling down on the mechanics that drive people away from their games in the first place. Refusing to listen to customer feedback and championing higher profit margins at ANY COST. Don't mistake me: I'm cautiously hopeful for Anthem's quality; I'll probably pick it up day one (no more preorders for me). But no matter how well Anthem performs, Bioware and the customers lose.
Lots of gameplay vids coming out today. Here is one I haven't seen mentioned yet. Maybe a bit too much talking at the beginning, but from minute 8 or so a good impression of solo play.

EA/BioWare plan to support Anthem beyond 2020 though.

Sorry? but what is it exactly that your babbling on about? you talk about other games BUT how can you say that Bioware/EA is doing all that they did? hell the game hasn't even premiered so your saying that all the games you mentioned and bought into is going to be the same lol grow up I really don't think so, and as for monetization dude get a gripe to games you mentioned in you argument...Well they are the worst. sorry if I stepped on your or other toes but i'm tired of the BS from you haters and others.

While I do agree that some successes can have a negative effect on an industry, I disagree that current changes are anything new, or that they changed things 'for the worse' rather than 'change things' and brought their own problems, while replacing some old ones. People have always found things to complain about in the gaming industry (or others) when publishers and studios followed models allowing them to make money. I bet that when new things and monetization models show up, the market that we have now will be looked at with a bit of nostalgia, while people will rile about things changing or the worse when they find a new scapegoat for it.
It's a boogeyman, really. The issue is larger and more systemic and so long as the priority for making something would be profit or continued growth over everything else we will have those problems anyway. In fact, we had these problems before, including time from decades back when it was profitable to flood the market with consoles and cheap games, often of insulting quality.
Also, to address some points shortly: a.) yes, mobile games market is oftentimes quite cesspool'y, and while gaming market has been growing steadily for years, mobile games remain a 'gateway drug' for gaming all across the globe. Games on smartphones are cheap and accessible - people from richer countries perhaps don't appreciate that, but coming from a poorer region of the world I can tell how much things have changed here, because for a very long time gaming was just too expensive to be a popular hobby.
b.) "Live service" isn't just multiplayer - everything that is added to the game post-release to extend its shelf life is a live service, including things like DLC or patches.
c.) PUBG and Fortnite are nothing more than a new trend in gaming, with battle royale pushing out survival genre as the most popular thing to be played now... Like... should we forget how many copycats there were and how many franchises jumped on the bandwagon to give people survival mode and zombies? What about the MMO trend before that? There will be a new thing in the next few years as well and the cycle will repeat yet again.
d.) EA didn't close Visceral because they focused on single-player.
