Wait if devs are moving from ME to that does that mean ME is dead? That's so sad for me! I hope Andromeda ends it off well and ties it all up.
Also I'm Confused. He seemed to tease both that it is MP focused and that it is SP focused. Also that it's a linear action and that it's choices.
So basically he wants us to know nothing!

Wait if devs are moving from ME to that does that mean ME is dead? No, it only means that major work on MEA is done - only small team responsible for fixes, improvements and later DLC remains on MEA, while most of team moves to other projects. Once that is done, they'll move to another project - likely next Dragon Age. And later another ME. Their team rotates like that.

Any news on whether we will see the new IP in E3? Better not repeat the mistakes of ME:A's marketing... A Hero Shooter with offline campaign is my guess xD After the massive success of Overwatch, I wouldn't be surprised. Actually, if Bioware will try a shot at this it will be very interesting... Hero shooter with a deep lore behind the scenes? Sure, why not?

I'm loving Overwatch but BioWare is literally the only company on the market making the kind of games they make... They have a huge fanbase for a reason. It would be sad seeing them move on from their signature style just to try to mimic something that already exists... Hopefully they know that.

Yup that was the logic behind my guess. they have their fingers in all sorts of pies and want to even "compete with Assassin's Creed series soon" , so they are probably gonna try a "hero shooter" too. they gave up on MOBAs cause even Blizzard couldn't compete with the likes of LoL at this point, which is why Overwatch happened in the first place xD if they can pull it off i am cool with it but for me Dragon Age 4 has the biggest priority honestly.

Same here - any news on DA being worked on will make me happy, though with MEA launch and announcing new IP release next year it seems unlikely we'll get anything at any sort of official capacity. I'm personally keeping an eye on new IP out of sheer curiosity - doesn't mean that it'll be title for me, even if well-loved all around. ... I don't think they're working on an Overwatch clone though. They began working on Secret IP... when - in 2012? Who then even knew about Overwatch or what success it'll have. Whatever it is, I don't think we should expect anything inspired by most recent trends.

Meh its just a guess but here is my thought process: Overwatch was supposed to be an MMO first called Titan so it depends on how far they have gone with their secret IP so far and how flexible it is toward such a change. as for how they knew it was gonna be a success...it is a Blizzard game announced in 2014 and whenever they touched a dead/idle genre, it turned into gold. Valve didn't care much for TF2, so Blizzard kinda got their "revenge" after the DOTA 2 thing happened. i grew up with the Blizzard community so i know how it is there and it only got worse. by now most of them are like addicts that buy anything with Blizzard's name on it and other companies are aware by now as well so they knew it was gonna be a success since 2014. As for Dragon Age 4, EA knew what they were releasing with MEA so i doubt it is affected much assuming they even wanted to make one after Inquisition (i know that during development they cut the story in half so i assume they wanted a sequel since then). to me it feels like at some point they just banked on Mass Effect Andromeda selling on name alone while their Bioware veterans were busy with other projects and they may actually sell enough with name alone but even if it does, can't necessarily say the same if they make Andromeda 2.

Really hard to tell what we can expect. I doubt they would be able to radically change the nature of the game at this stage. Still, they have a year (Or rather probably more like ten months) so they have time to tweak things. For example, they could look at the complaints about MEA's sidequests and adjust if they have a similar model. Or they could address the dialogue complaints, not a full rewrite but they have time to change some parts, adjust the tone if it has the MEA problem of most of the squadmates speaking in quips and very little tension or conflict. But a full scale overhaul now would be a tall order. Overwatch may have started conceptually as an MMO, but they started from the ground up when they switched it to a hero shooter. They can't do that now if this is a game of any scale. My current theory is still that EA nudged Bioware to make something in a similar niche to Destiny and the Division, in an effort to beat out the competition by providing the story experience both those games were criticized for lacking, so we'll see a single player game with a healthy level of coop content.

I don't really see that - there are entire mini-quests and cutscenes stemming from conflicts on board of Tempest that I've seen so far. Unless you mean just banter on road? I'm also unsure about major overhauls happening, especially if voiceover is done, which is likely. Some thing can be tweaked though, sure, but we don't even know what type of game new IP will be and whether it will be so focused on, say, exploration. Dunno... I keep thinking that we may see something that may be a tad unusual, although what that is, I can't be sure.

Some thing can be tweaked though, sure, but we don't even know what type of game new IP will be and whether it will be so focused on, say, exploration. Not sure about voice work being done, but they can definitely record new lines at any time if they decide it's important. I mean in terms of a lot of MEA's dialogue consisting of jokes that fall flat that totally undermine taking the plot seriously. They tried too hard to make MEA like the Citadel DLC, resulting in a game with a ton of quips that failed to understand that those worked in the Citadel DLC because it was a send off for the trilogy, not because that's what everyone wanted all along. The result is a jarring contrast between the direness of the situation and the tone taken by the characters much of the time. Maybe, I obviously don't know more than you, but I doubt Bioware will be abandoning their single-player story-dialogue model. So that's why I suspect something in the same line as those games when it comes to more multiplayer.

I became more familiar with the Starcraft portion of the community from my time playing SC2. They are very critical of Blizzard, sometimes overly critical, and they tend to worship the feet of Broodwar compared to SC2. Diablo 3 was bashed both by fans and non-fans. Correct me if I'm mistaken but the heavy fanboys are in the Warcraft side of things actually, and maybe now with Overwatch as Blizzard is handling the game really well. I don't think it is about taking a jab at Valve, it is about salvaging the assets made for Titan (Widow, S76, Symmetra, Torbjorn, Tracer, even Numbani itself) into the simplest gaming platform they could manage, so there is the relative short time between announcement, beta, and launch. If the new IP has been worked on since 2012, in a second thought I don't think it will be a hero shooter because Overwatch is popular, we have to think on what was popular in 2012 (please for the love of god let it be not a MOBA...).

Has it been officially confirmed that the secret IP is using the frostbite engine?
To tell you the truth I don't think frostbite was really the best choice for Bioware. While I enjoyed the last 2 games with that engine alot of the issues I have with those games stem from the technical side of things due to frostbite.
If it does use frostbite I hope they got all the kinks out of it for the new IP because I think it's been more of a hindrance rather than a benefit.

It's fairly certain that Bioware has fully migrated on Frostbite. And a lot of issues seem to stem from Frostbite being still expanded to accommodate building RPGs (so far only Bioware builds them in Frostbite and released only 2 titles, both of which were 1st in their respective series), rather than the engine per se. And if anything, it would seem bizarre to switch to a different engine now - not only all of their devs are now familiar with the engine, which saves money and resources all around, AFAIK all of EA studios use Frostbite now. That means all of studios working in FB can add and work on the engine and each studio has access to both assets, modules and tech support.

I just hope that they get it working a whole lot better than what they've gotten so far.

Thanks for sharing. i said they are addicts though, not worshippers. they criticize and even hate, yet they buy anyway. that's what most of them do, even with WoW and i can't completely blame them cause they want to see it through you know. and yeea Overwatch wasn't really about revenge, which is i put it between quotation marks or w/e. they just wanted more of the sweet MP money to compete easier and now they have it. as i said about the new IP, my guess is that they may changed it along the road in 2014 but it is a long shot. they are not looking to beat OVerwatch. they may want the second or third place. (for example read Cliff Blesinzki's interview regarding Lawbreaker on PCG. he wanted the second or 3rd place in the genre of his game). either way, don't think too much about it. the whole point was just to throw a jab at EA honestly.

If not... well, DA4 will have to make enough of good impression. The success of DAI will help, but at this point the expectations will be hard to meet. Which is why i said it depends on the nature of the game. as for the release date, it is always changeable. i don't even play Overwatch so its not like i am hoping for it. however if the secret IP is confirmed to be offline only, then yea no change will happen most likely. if they want the new IP to succeed big time then yea they do have to pour everything they have into it specially by EA for marketing cause sadly that's a big part of it. i would be glad if it turns out to be a story heavy offline game. as for MEA, its not about the uproar, its about it's legit issues. with Inquisition people kept looking for flaws as well, but whatever issues it had, they ain't gonna stick out the same way cause technical issues tend to be more noticeable and they objectively count as a flaw (even though they may not matter as much compared to some other flaws). ME IP may survive of course but still Andromeda counts as yet another damage to it. all that being said, we are talking about EA. so i won't be surprised if they now start milking the ME IP even more and then just turn it into a mobile game or put it to rest. they have a history of doing such things. as a matter of fact, as i said in my other reply, the point of my original comment was to make fun of EA for their attitude so i wasn't even looking to turn this into a discussion. EA don't care much so why should we xD which is a shame cause EA wasn't always like this. the likes of Command and Conquerors Generals or Battle for the Middle Earth entertained me for a long time.

I am more interested in the new IP than DA4, because I have never really come to love the DA setting. But on the other hand, if the game will be like Overwatch, I simply will not be able to participate, because I don't have the time to grind a game seriously, and without a serious commitment these type of games are not particularly engaging. I doubt BioWare is the company that can resolve the player stratification crisis and make an MP that will last and make it fun for both new and vets, uber players and nothing specials, guys with 15 hours a day to play, and those with less than that per week...
I do want to see a new world by Bio, but I don't think I will be playing a grinder.

All you get are aesthetic bonuses and a ranking number, nothing that affect gameplay. Now, something like Destiny does require some grinding to get better stuff and raise your light level, which does worry me.

I'm pretty sure we were told the new game is not an Overwatch clone. At most, it might be like Destiny. But we don't have enough information to know that.

Well, we might know in June. Grinders do have something that it is to the developpers' advantage: they make you want to buy early before the game is dead, and the life-span of multiplayer based games seem to be shortening in the last few years

Yup, sounds like Destiny/The Divison Except those aren't "new" ways to play with friends. Those are old as dirt. If they just meant and old technique that's new from Bioware, well then that's just a dumb thing to say as a teaser. My guess is that it's more like the Commander role in Battlefield (which, after all, is a Frostbite game). You can solo the campaign, but your friends can login and help you out, maybe by stepping into the shoes of an NPC guide, or maybe act as your air support for dropping you supplies or dropping bombs on an entrenched enemy mob, or trading gear with you, or even temporarily assisting with combat. Kind of a cross between Dark Souls 3 and Battlefield.

You know, probably very hard to implement, but would be cool in a multiplayer game if they find a way to interact with the dialog wheel between players. Like, during character creation you choose a personality/voice and the wheel reflects that. Instead of chat or voice chat, you can roleplay by talking with the wheel with another player. Like, your choices of questions/answers are based on your personality/voice. But I doubt something like that would be possible, mainly because it's a very small percentage of players who like the roleplay aspect of games.

I've wanted this since forever. It can't be that hard, since it's been done in kid's games like Neopets. It's not just for roleplaying. Most FPS games would benefit from this, since the open chat box is a gd cesspool. All of the actual useful chat, like "I need a medic" gets drowned out by all the "get rekt" and insults. A hybrid approach could also work. You spend some time in a configuration screen preloading various tone choices with your own written dialogue presets, like for the Angry you could write "Inconceivable!" and for Sarcastic you could write, "I'm being clucked at by a hen, evidently." You could have 3 to 5 options per tone, so you don't repeat the same thing over and over.
