There's also some recent changes to SWTOR team too. The producer Ben Irving likely move on to Anthem as well. But I would wait until the rosters were official rather than speculate.
But whoever on Austin, is suspect! *sherlock sensor*
shinobi602 @shinobi602 Important to note there are a lot of talented folks providing real, significant work on this in Austin as well. Aaryn Flynn aarynflynn Yes 100%

“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
This is not like your typical mmo. It's gonna be a one time purchase. Obviously we dunno how dlc or post content will work but hopefully it's cheaper than Destiny urgh. Microtransactions.... wouldn't be surprised but least it's just pve I guess... urgh.
SO, what is going to make this any different from Destiny, Titanfall, or The Division?

Story, hopefully. That's the best rationale I can think of why EA would task Bioware of all studios to handle their Destiny competitor.

It's great to see so many Bioware writers working on this! Watch out Destiny
I know it says you can upgrade your suit, but I hope there are other elements to combat other than just guns, powers specifically. I need some mage-y game play!

Well, looks like Aaryn kept his job.
Morpheus: "know what happened happened and that it could not have happened in any other way".
Coelijoeli @coelijoeli Is 'The Dive' (epic dive from hub to the open world for example) gonna be used in different scenario's? Like diving through enemy fire?
Hmm, if they are reducing SWTOR team, the French benefit might be that they will finally put it in support mode, and make it b2p, so the game can be played basically as SP with all the chapters they did release? Not many are left who are still playing SWTOR as an actual MMO, is there? If they put "the end" and a price tag on the whole thing, I'd pay and play what I did not finish since Chapter whatever.
In particular interest to me is some concept art of the freakin' Mech Wizard! (You can't convince me this isn't our "mage" equivalent! ...Please don't, I love me my sci-fi mages!)

Good to have that confirmed. Makes total sense. After launch, you have to continuously release expansion content to keep the money flowing. I wouldn't want Edmonton to be saddled with that.

Yeh, I mean, this is what they had with SWTOR, and in my opinion, still one of the best leveling experiences of all of the mmos I've played because of the story for the classes but it did fall apart at endgame since there wasn't much to do after I finished my class quests, for me anyway. So if they can pull off a story here, why not.
Anthem @anthemgame You're invited to venture beyond in a new experience from @bioware: x.ea.com/32794 #AnthemGame #EAPlay
Introducing Anthem™ Anthem is EA's newest IP and is being developed by BioWare.
By Patrick Söderlund
Today we unveiled Anthem, EA’s newest IP. Our team at BioWare hand-crafted an entire new world, and equally as important, an entirely new experience. This isn’t like any BioWare game you’ve played before – in fact, it’s unlike any game we’ve ever made at EA.
As a player, there’s nothing quite like thrill of discovering new games and experiences. It’s why I have always loved playing games, and why I try to play everything. Seeing how much innovation there is in the industry across all corners – interactive storytelling, social gameplay, visual fidelity, live services -- drives our teams to push the boundaries and deliver the unexpected.
As a developer, all of this excitement can also be frightening. Starting from a clean sheet – no genre, no story, no gameplay design or systems, etc. – almost everything has to go right to see a new IP all the way through. And the truth of the matter is, a lot of great ideas on paper, never realize their full potential.
The time and investment is why new IP can be so risky. But when you think you have something special… you have to go for it.
And that’s what we have with Anthem. Ever since I heard the original concept, I’ve had a special passion for this game. I love the contrast of the beautiful, lush world with savage, exotic beasts. Seeing the advanced technology of the Javelin suits, contrast with the primitive and brutal ruthlessness of the environment.
Our team has incredible ambition for this title. They’re telling a new story, creating a social, co-operative experience, and putting it in a contiguous open world that is dynamic and will be ever-changing for years to come.
The time is right for a game like Anthem. The power of new consoles, the way genres are evolving and blending into each other, the way we are playing games together for longer periods of time through live service. You are going to love this game, this world and this experience. We can’t wait to share it with you in the Fall of 2018.

Plus a lot of upgrades. Based just on the gameplay trailer and compared only to Destiny:
Upgraded graphics (and this understates just how next-gen Anthem looks compared to Destiny 1.0. Destiny 2.0 might catch up, though)
RNG roll your rare/ultra rare loot on the spot. In Destiny you have to fly your spaceship back to the hub to roll your rare loot, that's minutes of waiting and annoyance
Flying, rather than just boosted jumps, although Destiny's boosted jumps come pretty close to flying
Swimming underwater
Dense hub with more NPCs than players. Destiny's hub is more players than NPCs, like by 10 to 1 or more.
Open world with gateway/portal transitions. Destiny has gateway/portal transitions also, but most of the maps you have to tediously fly to in your spaceship. Plus, the maps on Destiny are really small, almost too small to really call open world. Not counting the temples/ruins (dungeons), which can be quite large. Again, might be improved in Destiny 2.0
Possibly more diversity of weapon types enabled by 3rd person POV. Destiny is first person, so doesn't have things like that mortar and MIRV gun.

Translation: we know this game looks derivative, but that's a good thing, trust us.

On the top of my head I can't think of a game that it wasn't derivative in some way in years. It also reminded me immediately of Iron Man, which, given the popularity of the character in recent times, might be one of the influences behind the Javelin suits. Which I don't mind, since having that freedom in exploration, both above and under ground, is quite nice.
