So I did an experiment to rush to the priority missions, I have never done that before. And after I brought Meridian online, the worlds are still inhabitable, even though it clearly shows in the cut scene that the flowers grow, and the water become clear. I think that's kind of disappointing, I thought if I bring Meridian online, all the worlds will be at 100%, since Meridian is the control point for all the vaults...

There wouldn't be much point in doing the sidequests at all, if completing the main plot just superceded them all.

As I understood it, we still need the vaults to be activated, Meridian improves the "terraforming power" of the vaults, but do not replaces them.
Though, it is badly written, there are lines that suggest Meridian as the control center of the vault network, actualy activates/resets them all (maybe that is the problem with the writing, activate yes, reset no), so, maybe it is just another "unset conditional" here.

The vaults, as I understand, aren't connected to Meridian until you activate them.

The vaults, as I understand, aren't connected to Meridian until you activate them. The entire damn point of going to meridian was to kickstart all the vaults. They even say as much. If you had to manually activate each going to Meridian would be a waste. There is a bloody good reason why both the Archon and the AI want to reach meridian. It will allow you to control all the vaults ie kickstart them for one group and decimate for the other side.

Think of it as fixing a network issue.

Remeber that scene on Aya with the Moshae? Only Aya's vault is connected because it was never turned off to begin with. Eos' vault is active, but not connected.

No matter what you do, you still take cold damage on Voeld so, what's the point? Follow Drack's advise, drop a Sun on the Archon and go home.

Eos' vault is active, but not connected. This is how I understood as well, which would make sense BUT: Then we should not see cutscnens of all the planets getting better during the ending. Only the planets with activated vaults should be seen getting better. If what the OP says is correct and we even see planets the vaults of which have not been activated yet, that's a continuity issue and should be fixed.

We don't know the time frame of what happens and the cut scene could be a "into the future" type of idea, so even though we activated the vault on Meridian it still hasn't been able to activate the vaults yet and if you go back you start the quicker then just waiting on Meridian. I have seen that even with our technology, remote access just isn't as fast as walking over and hitting the reset button.

What happens is you move onto playing better games. But what happens when the only other really good game you want to play at the moment is something which you already have well over 10,000 hours of across the entire series?

That's all I did my first playthrough (finished with 54% completion), and I started a 2nd assuming things would be at least slightly different if I actually did loyalty quests, all the vaults, each planet up to 100% viability, etc. The disappointments just don't end with this game.

This is what we call BAD WRITING. Activated Meridian should control all the vaults /this is what we get from main-story/, but because of writers laziness after doing main-quest you still have to activate it manually on each planet. In TW3 for example many times i did some side-quests on my own before i should get them /as they were a part of main-story/, but EVERYTIME game recognized what i did and there been clearly visible consequences / different dialogues EACH TIME. Cannot really believe no one found out that problem before game was released.

Do you really think people would have allowed BioWare to put a consequence in their game that would have locked down the vaults? Peebee's quest for the cores would become nullified and people would be upset at that, just like people were upset at the consequences of Mass Effect 2 and delaying the suicide mission for it was "unfair". I think what needs to be understood is if you don't like something and BioWare makes a change to the way you would like it to be, another person would be just as annoyed at how the game works and attempt to call them out on it.
