I just squished my cat in the front door. And I had to close the door pretty hard to make sure it closed properly....so now I am very worried that I have injured him, because I didn't even seen him and from what I guessed he caught the full brunt of it in the left ribcage and let out this horrible *SQUAWK*.......Poor Flerkin. Please take the cat to a veterinarian. I want to but my parents won't let me....I don't drive, and they insist he is fine. I've been watching him over the last 90 minutes and he does appear to be perfectly normal. Not limping, no weird, cognitively abnormal behaviours etc, no unusual talkativeness (indicating he was in pain). I will continue to keep a close eye on him though.

I hate being stuck in the "Friend Zone".... Connected in so many ways on so many levels about so many different things, made each other laugh...Had great conversation. Only to be kept apart because of a considerable age difference (15 years). I know I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up....But I can't help but feel disappointed and depressed. I will try to push those feelings away so that I can become the best friend I can be....But it's going to be hard.

Its your time and energy - if you got so much to spare and don't need it for more fruitful endeavors go ahead. *shrug* Personally, I'd rather use those resources to try find a matching partner instead. Sometimes you got to be a little selfish not get lost along the way to your goals.

Aww EB. Sorry it wasn't what you had hoped for . Be careful if you want to be close friends with her - you don't want to confuse yourself unnecessarily and perhaps interpret things the wrong way and get your hopes up again.

Friend zone sucks, yes, but there is one saving grace: If this means, that you go out more and meet new people, then it might be worth it.

Sorry. Being friendzoned isn't easy. Everyone probably lived such thing. It happened to me once at 17 years old. The girl called Emilie was fond of my brother who wasn't interested while I was invisible, a shadow. " She could be into my brother, why not me," I thought and hoped. But things are never that simple. I did everything to exist to her eyes. At that time I was a very nice but indecisive, awkward, shy, introverted and romantic guy. So it required me a lot of courage and efforts, to go out of my comfort zone. I made my point, blushing, she felt embarassed and told me she wasn't interested, that she had my brother in mind, she could never see me as a partner, only as a friend. I felt depressed as well and didn't enjoy the rest of the night. My brother rejected her, she rejected me. What did upset me it's her way of trying to quickly get rid of me while she was looking for my brother who avoided her, or looking at me like she was annoyed I could be into her, as if I was a mere coakroad not worthy of her time. She didn't feel honored. She even insulted me by lecturing me with an annoyed tone " there are other girls around, why don't you try with them instead " , indifferent to my feelings for her. Most of all I felt she had little respect for me. She had zero idea how much it had been difficult for me to reveal my feelings to her. Several hours of intense struggle in my mind to find some courage to tell her the truth. Her reaction just destroyed me. Thanks god my pride saved me. That was my last redpill with women and people overall. She wasn't the first who behaved that way with me and who - unconsciously - didn't have much consideration for me. Being too nice is not a good thing, people take you for a fool. I radically changed and my heart severely hardened while I grew up. I wasn't anymore that romantically weak guy I used to be. I met her again after a few years at a party for christmas the 24 december, I was already a very different guy at 22 years old. Very confident, very open and with a stronger personality. Shocked, she kept telling me with shinny eyes during the night how much I seemed different, how much I changed, like most women or distant friends who have known me in high school anyway. She invited me to dance with her several times while I was talking with someone else, which I accepted. I did the same after. I didn't have any grudge against her. It served no purpose, it was the past anyway. It was ridiculously easy to seduce her lol, slept with her the same night. My mindset about that subject would be that normally I don't " romantically " try anymore with someone who rejected me once, ( I can totally remain friend as well ) my focus on other women. Let's say if she changed her mind, she would have to come back to me herself and send me several strong signals. Without that I would never try again. I know there are other guys who never loose hope and insist and sometimes it works, but that's not me. --- Anyway today was very tiring, I helped a friendmove his furniture to his new house, sofa, armchairs, washing machine, fridge, etc. Of course the elevator was too small, he lived on the third floor of the building ... We had to go down and then go up the stairs with all the bulky furniture. My arms are on fire. Still, a satisfying day to have helped a grateful friend.

So I got my stationary bike today, assembled it and immediately tried it out. Did a 30 minute test ride on it increasing difficulty level every 5 minutes for a couple minutes to simulate steep inclines. In those 30 minutes I burned 150 kcal and made 10 kilometers, kept the speed around 18-20 km/h. I have absolutely no idea if this is any good, but my legs burned and I sweat a lot. I'm planning on doing this 5 times per week, the 2 days I won't do it are reserved for either heavy weight lifting involving legs or hiking.
In any case, I think its money well spent, I'm approaching my mid 30's so I guess its time to slowly start looking out for my cardiovascular system.

I have one that I'm looking to sell. the GX 4.7 from NordicTrack. It retails for between 6 and 800 CAD, we bought it new from Amazon for 650.00 in 2018....and in these three (and .2) years it has only been used a grand total of 4 (yes, FOUR) times. I'm selling it for my parents and I'm asking 375 considering it's virtually brand new and almost-never been used. Considering the MSRP and it's nearly untouched state (plus it comes fully assembled)....I think 375 is a STEAL.
I've had people offer me 125, 175, 200 and 250 for it! NO!

Two good winter hikes in a row, perfect conditions the last two days, -5c yesterday and -7c today, no wind cloudy and a bit dampish.
Very interesting difference in the frozen river this year from last. Last year the river ice was very rough, thick chunks pushed up all along the river very rugged, very alien looking. This year very flat, no ice pushed up a thin layer of snow covering the ice, lots of places a person could skate if the snow was cleared.
I would imagine there are quite a few factors that could play into the differences. When things began to freeze and just how cold it got how fast, was there freezing and thawing. Wind conditions when things first began to freeze, water levels (the river was very low all this past summer). Release of dam water up stream.

My hand got caught on a sharp metal edge of a doorframe - I shit you not, I had to cut away stripes of lose hanging meat with my scissor, now its a big bleeding hole. Still have a big chunk hanging loosely around but it hurts too much and its too elastic to cut it away. This sucks. And this had to happen just before training.

Make sure it is well cleaned up to prevent infection and if it is bleeding too much might have to run in for a stitch.
My hand is still not the same from stabbing it with a sharp knife while trying to cut an avocado last year. I ended up with a couple stitches but the cut actually nicked a nerve just below my pointing finger.

Wow that sounds like a bad place to get stabbed (not that there is any good place), still got lucky that you just nicked it. It may still recover, I had nerve damage in my leg and it took 3 years to get better. Yeah as soon as it stops bleeding I will apply iodine disinfectant to prevent an infection. I don't think it needs stitches, its not really a cut, more like a crater, the sharp edge just ''spooned'' the flesh out of my hand. Cant do much with that kind of material loss.

So far my day has been great for the simple reason that my Amazon order came more than two weeks earlier than expected. It was a baby gift for my best friend. It arrived in perfect condition....and it looks EXACTLY as it does in the pictures. (Not on Amazon, but sometimes I have ordered things online and the actual product is different than what the website shows in pictures. That is disappointing because you buy the thing based on what you see on the site. You are expecting it to be exactly what is shown, otherwise, you may not have bought it). But in this case, the item in question is 100% exact in every detail.
My face lit up as soon as I saw it and the more I look at it the more I really like it and am happy with it. I am 5000% sure they will love it, which makes me happy to give it as a gift.
My plan for the day is to find appropriate wrapping paper and then wrap it with utmost care.
I'm known as the Uncle who gives amazing and unique gifts. I have a track record for finding really unique and thoughtful gifts; this continues that trend.

Someone posted a question on Facebook: "When was the last time you hugged your father?"
That hit hard. It's been over a year since he died. And it's been more than two years since I hugged him. Thanks to covid lockdown, we spoke, but we couldn't meet.
Sometimes I don't like the world we live in very much.

Today something really strange happened, something I cannot explain rationally.
I was going for a little relaxing walk -like I always do on Sundays- when I saw a man walking on a road on my right that would connect to the road I was walking on in about 200 meters or so. He wore a blue jacket and a blue hat and was walking at about the same pace as me. Watched him a while (1 minute or so) approaching when a couple bushes blocked my view for just a few seconds. Kept on walking, bushes gone - looked again and the man was gone also.
There is absolutely no way that, while my view was blocked by the vegetation, he could have moved out of sight. Not even if he sprinted at maximum speed, there are no objects to hide behind in this specific area, no hills, no buildings, no trees, nothing. I know this area well, its just a road surrounded by flat level meadows. There is a small forest nearby but that is at least 15 minutes of walking distance away. Also he appeared to be hiking as well so he should have ended up on the road I was walking on.
I looked around for 5 minutes and there was absolutely no trace of that man, just the road, nothing else. I have no idea what happened.

Also he appeared to be hiking as well so he should have ended up on the road I was walking on. I looked around for 5 minutes and there was absolutely no trace of that man, just the road, nothing else. I have no idea what happened. Look, the reason I respond to this, particularly the way I am, is due to something that happened to me today and something I spent like an hour thinking about just today, soo.. He could have been a homeless person that had his camp in the bushes? He could have been a runner, that only temporarily was walking, and then started to run and managed to cover enough distance to be less visible? He could be fooling around with you, played hide and seek and circled the bushes to keep them in the line of sight between you? I do not believe 'ghosts' or 'poltergeist' phenomena are the spirits of dead people. To me, that's just a folklore explanation, much the same as UFO's are taken for alien vehicles that visit Earth. Like "It's not A, so it has to be R, right?" ...and never mind B, C, D,... Y, Z. But I do have to believe that there are 'ghost' phenomena, because I have experienced them so much myself, for long periods. And I know that I was not crazy, because other people experienced the same, and sometimes together with me. For several years, up to about 17 years ago, I worked in a building that was haunted, and was said to be haunted. When you worked alone, or in company with only one colleague, late evenings and nights, a lot of strange, but substantial things happened. I or sometimes we, would hear doors open and close. Heavy doors, mind you, and we could hear which doors, by the sounds. But there was no one there. Sometimes we could hear footsteps, with details like heel and scratch. Sometimes coming our ways, until they suddenly stopped. But there was no one there. Sometimes I could sense someone coming behind me, felt I could catch a glance of a person in the corner of my eye. Stopping behind my shoulder, as I was occupied with my work, and I could see a reflection of a moving presence of something, in reflections in metal and glass surfaces before me. But turning my head, there was no one there. One of the things that annoy me, still today, was that in none of those latter occasions, I had the wits with me to carefully examine the reflections, before I turned around. So there you have it. Physicist and mathematician, I have no acceptable explanation. The way I perceive physics, there cannot be "recordings" of events that "play" themselves. And I do not believe in spirits of dead people. I cannot imagine what these things were. Maybe something about the building's structure? I just have to accept that there are plenty of questions which have no answers. ...And I've heard other stories from people who say the saw somebody, including in broad daylight and outside, who for various reasons couldn't possibly be there, only to disappear tracelessly. It's not the first time I hear a story like that.

I'm very sorry to hear that, Mousestalker. In all honesty, I actually teared up for you when I read this. I hear stuff like this and it breaks my heart.

He could have been a homeless person that had his camp in the bushes? I'm 90% sure it was one of my neighbors, I often meet him when I go for a walk, he likes to hike too. Can't be 100% certain but his clothes, height, hair and his determined walking style fit. As I said, there are absolutely no bushes or anything around that could be used as visual cover, and said neighbor is in his mid 50's and not somebody that would play hide and seek with random people on the streets. Also, he is no runner and with the clothes he wore, a heavy jacket and what I think was jeans would not be ideal clothes for running - plus the icy street conditions make running near impossible this time of the year. Which makes me just realize, its even more unrealistic that he left the road and ran off in superhuman speed mode since the ice and snow everywhere don't allow running. Like I said, no cover whatsoever within reach, only two straight icy roads, I just could not see him for a couple seconds and poof - gone. Not saying ghosts or anything, I just want to know what happened. Next time I see him I will approach him and ask him. Hope he even remembers.
