Super Cold here this week so I have gone full force into my big project of ripping all of my cds to mp3s. Long overdue. I have ripped some songs from many cds but not all of them and since my cds now sit gather dust I felt I should rip the whole lot. First thing I had to do, was buy a cd player/ripper. the last two puters I have bought no longer have cd drives....old tech Now comes my whine for the day.... It is amazing just how many cd covers have writing that is illegible (they decide to use some written script), or is too small to read or worst of all colour combos. This last one is the worst, lets put dark mustard lettering against a pale green background, then we can really wreck the persons vision.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! My long time trusty electric can opener has stopped working! It just makes a buzzing sound. I've had this thing probably for, lets see....35 years, thru 3 or 4 moves I would guess? I got this thing from some store promotion where you collect points, the store chain went out of business years ago. I love this thing.

I got this thing from some store promotion where you collect points, the store chain went out of business years ago. I love this thing. People actually use electric devices for that task? But I do share your pain, having old trusty appliances die is really damn sad, its almost like losing an old friend. As for my day, well, I grouted my shower with new silicone. That was a load of fun because the old silicone was moldy underneath and I had to scrape it out of the edges & corners with a chisel which took me over an hour - and while I was at it I scrubbed the floor of my bathroom, cleaned the entire toilet, cleaned the sink (which had a minor blockage in it) and now my fingers are basically gone. Feels kinda like back when I was in the military and we had bathroom & toilet duty. EVERY DAY. But that's a small price to pay for absolute cleanliness! And as reward I'm gonna bake me a bunt cake now.

I like my teeth....I eant to keep them. Are you saying there is an infection around an already root canaled tooth? If that is the case, the best option is probably to pull the tooth and then let it be, no implant. Trying to repair a botched root canal work has health hazards and is very likely to cost you more pain, money and dentist time in the future. I base this on my sister's and my own experiences plus what those dentists, which I have actually trusted, have told me. My advice is also don't bother with the implant. At least give it time and see how you cope without the tooth. Titanium screw fixtures in the jaw has had two problems. AfaIk, none of them is fixed yet. There is a chance/risk, not insignificant, that you will have problems with it. = more pain, more money.

But leaving a gaping hole in the jaw causes problems too. Your face will sink, your jaw and gums receed etc.
Im going to see a specialist and I will do whatever they advise. I pray it is not too serious.

AfaIk, none of them is fixed yet. There is a chance/risk, not insignificant, that you will have problems with it. = more pain, more money. I very much agree with this, I too was in the same position. A tooth completely and utterly split (without any cavities, it just shattered from biting down too hard on something pretty solid) and got it removed completely. The doc immediately recommended me a VERY expensive implant, titanium screw into the bone and all that. Asked a friend who had a bad experience with his implant - the tissue and eventually bone around it got inflamed regularly and he was on heavy anti-inflammatory meds and anti biotics on and off for two years, it eventually lead to bone & gum disintegration that spread to surrounding teeth & tissue and it got so bad they had to take it out again to save his lower jaw. Of course thats the worst case scenario for sure and there are tons of people who are happy with their implant - but I did a lot of research and there are a lot of cases similar to this, I find the ratio of success-catastrophe too high and I decided to rather deal with a hole in my chaw. Also I read about cases where the tissue and bone around the implant started to inflame years after the procedure - Imagine you don't have a specialist dentist around to deal with that for whatever reason, you cannot remove the implant yourself without doing major damage and making things worse. You are absolutely positively hosed. Also my face did not really sink in, I don't think anybody can tell I'm missing a tooth without looking into my mouth.- (But I've never head very puffy cheeks to begin with, my face is more on the gaunt side no matter my bodyweight. )

I suppose it all depends on the skill and knowledge of your dentist/specialist....though I agree, statistically there is always a risk. Even excellently done work can have problems arise down the line.
Sometimes sh*t just happens. I mean, I have always taken very good care of my teeth. I brush using an electric tooth brush (Braun/Oral B...the round one) three times a day, I floss twice a day (after lunch and before bed)...I have regular appointments with a very very good Dentist whom Ive seen for 25 years....But for some unknown reason- Ive had two root canals in the last decade in what are otherwise or should be very healthy teeth.
Like I said.... sometimes stuff just happens.
Nonetheless, I have a consult next week and Im going to see what he says.
But enough about me, let's move on shall we..?

Went on my daily hike at the park, saw a pack of 5 of my avatar characters (Coyotes) as I parked my truck.
Urban coyotes are becoming an increasing issue here. The park is a patch of wilderness next to the river (a natural wildlife corridor). The problem is the coyote population is increasing and they have become used to humans and human activity. These coyotes had no fear at all of my truck and when I got out of the truck basically just across the road from them they were like 'Meh' another human. In the wild if you come that close to coyotes they are usually off like a shot running away.
For a full grown human they do not pose much of a threat, a coyote or pack of them are not going to threaten a large human however lots of people bring their small kids to this park and the biggest threat is this is popular dog walking park as well, there are off leash areas. Dogs do not get along with coyotes and visa versa so large dogs will try and go after coyotes, small dogs are fine prey for coyotes.
And just in case you were wondering none of the 5 coyotes were carrying an anvil or rocket on their back.

Yeah, I live on what until recently was the outer edges of the 'burbs ... so it was not that unusual for Sasha and I to encounter coyotes on one of her adventures.
It's now a lot more built up, but the coyotes (as well as the deer, foxes, rabbits, turkeys, geese, ducks, cougars (the four-footed kind), hawks, owls, skunks, raccoons and 'possums) are still quite plentiful.
As you say, the wild critters have adapted to the greater presence of humans, vehicles, etc. The coyotes still tend to stick to the less developed areas, but the foxes are quite willing to come close to houses in search of food ... to include small dogs and cats.
Sasha alerts on the coyotes and really, really wants to charge them ... one of the few times I have to tug on her leash ... otherwise, we mostly go wherever her nose takes her.

I was feeling unwell yesterday. I woke up feeling uncomfortable in the early hours. Nothing wrong except cold hands, high pulse, high blood pressure, a slight headache, and tzing, tzing, tzing in my ears. ...And feeling vaguely uncomfortable and slightly unstable. It did not feel like atrial fibrillation, like I had some months ago, exactly, but I still went to the hospital, where I was dismissed by a nurse who assured me there was nothing wrong with my heartbeat at all. (well, I didn't feel any such symptoms, anyway). And if I had any internal bleeds, blood pressure would be down, not up.
By that time we were already at noon, pulse and blood pressure starting to fall and I started to feel better. By evening I felt fine. After the night's sleep, good sleep, I woke up feeling superb, very comfortable and fresh. That special good feeling you get when having recovered from something.
A mystery. Hope it doesn't come again. (Some poisoning?)

I fixed a leaking chimney and stove. I'm happy I do have tools and some practical skills because if I had let someone else do that it would have cost me a lot. 6 hours work time total, material plus driving to my place - at least 600 bucks.- Now it only cost me my time, a bag of fire/heat resistant mortar and a couple bricks I found in my garage.

This plus the feeling of having the right tool even for the most obscure repair/task. I have to admit I'm a tool whore, I have a tool for nearly every situation and I love it when something unexpected happens and I just happen to have the right tool for it. Or obscure knowledge to fix something rare or strange. But knowledge is a tool so it should not be listed separately I think.

Ugh, I feel bad, I was waiting for package from Amazon and was playing a video game. I hear a footstep on the front steps out side my door and then a big WHOMP!
I set my controller down and go to the front door and there is the delivery guy flat out on the steps. He missed the first step and did a face plant. I ran out to see if he was okay as he was picking himself up, he was apologizing to me for some reason. I think the first step of my front steps is a bit higher than the others and he missed a step.
I felt rather bad.

Booo yaaa! So I go for my pre Christmas grocery shopping this am. I know the bill is going to be big because I have not gone shopping for a while, it's one of those once every 6 trips that you need to buy things like toilet paper, dish soap, laundry stuff etc and I'll be buying some Christmas luxury food items I might not normally buy. I'm about half way though the check out process and the guy behind the cash register says, "Oh you are the first person to spend more than $250 today so for an in store promotion you can get a free air fryer over there at customer service." So I look over and there are two of these air fryers left. I'm like "I just go over and grab one of those?" Guy says yeah, just grab one and i have to scan it but it's free. Value of I think $95 So..... Boo yaa! (My final bill was a record amount that I have ever paid for Grocs so the store got to say Boo ya as well.)

Played Monopoly today, for the first time since I was a kid. I won, after a 3h roller coaster of bad luck and good luck, towards the end offensively good luck, lol. What a cruel and merciless game Monopoly is. ...mostly a game of luck, as well.

For some reason, one of the games lasted for days. We had so much money in the game we had to write out extra bank notes, a lot of extra bank notes. I think that was part of why the game continued for so long. We survived long enough to pull so much money into the game from the bank, that we just coasted over the mishaps. I don't remember how it finished, but I can well imagine that we stopped with the game unresolved. I have kinda got interested in classic board games lately. I have only ever played Cluedo and Monopoly. What more is there?

I don't remember how it finished, but I can well imagine that we stopped with the game unresolved. I have kinda got interested in classic board games lately. I have only ever played Cluedo and Monopoly. What more is there? CAreers, the game of life, masterpiece was a game i liked.
In Masterpiece you would bid on paintings but you never really knew their value, it was fun.
Balder dash is a really good game too, not really a board game per say but a good game non the less if you have enough people.

I remember one Christmas holiday, me and buddies, free from school, binged on Monopoly. For some reason, one of the games lasted for days. We had so much money in the game we had to write out extra bank notes, a lot of extra bank notes. I think that was part of why the game continued for so long. We survived long enough to pull so much money into the game from the bank, that we just coasted over the mishaps. Careers look good, and apparently it's available. Gonna look for it. Masterpiece, well there's collector prices on that. There is justice in the world. I got completely trounced in Monopoly today. Unreasonably bad luck. I was the first one bankrupted. Yesterday I sat out safely in the jail three times in a row, towards the end, when all the properties were loaded, and cashed in on my Mayfair and Park Lane. Today, I went to jail three times early in the game, when everybody else bought everything and cashed in 200M every lap. I did manage to acquire Mayfair and Park Lane again, and a did manage to almost escape the red street, where there were 4 houses everywhere, but instead I got to draw ? card, Proceed to 'Pall Mall', and suddenly I didn't escape red street anyway. I was done. No chance to pay. What do you think about 'Ticket to Ride' ?

Ticket To Ride is an awesome song.
Pall, Mall, Ball (Paul. MALL, ball....M/B/P all look the same on the mouth as they have the same shape and are mechanically produced the same way) so to someone who is Deaf or HoH and relies on lip reading it can be very hard to distinguish and requires some mental gymnadtics and fill in the blanks

Cluedo is, IMO, a better game design than Monopoly. But Monopoly is a better social board game. Because in Cluedo, only I win, all the time. I can appreciate that that's not fun for the others 🙁. Monopoly, otoh, is a chaos of gloating, despair, triumph and cruel laughter that anyone can win. Apparently, that's much more fun. 🤔
