I'm the type of person who cannot get properly immersed in more than one thing at a time. I HAVE to obsessively play a game start to finish before starting a new one. So I guess this means BG3 first and then Starfield in October. Which is fine, I guess. I expect a lot of patching even after such a long delay. Very logical to play one, then the other. I'll be doing it the other way around, but either option is good.

300h for BG3 is hopefully a joke. I just realized I might have another problem: the release date will probably conflict with my annual 2 weeks hiking trip. Haven't handed in my request yet but I'm hoping to get last week of August/first week of September. Hmmm crap. I took me 45-50 hours to complete about 80% of Act 1 available content in the early access pre-Grymforge patch. At release, Act 1 alone is going to have ~100 hours of content the way things are going (some people already do spend that long going by howlongtobeat). Act two is supposed to be x2 bigger. Of course, this is all depending of how good you are at combat, difficulty level (early access only has one) and if you skip combat via persuasion skills or other means.

This must be the longest RPG ever made then! Even something bloated like Assassin's Creed doesn't take that long doing all side quests. That's insane! Yeah I kinda sucked at combat in DOS2. My boyfriend was carrying me basically, lol. Which was kinda frustrating. His rogue was so OP it wasn't even funny. I think we even played on Easy... Don't remember. We kinda ended up killing all bad guys because they asked for it, lol. I'll definitely need to play on Easy because I'm no tactical genius and even though I've played a few top down RPGs now and managed OK, it's not the kind of combat I'm good at. And I certainly don't care for a challenge. Will avoid combat as much as possible. Which is something I hope I can do in Starfield as well once in a while. FO4 being all "go there and kill everything" got boring really fast. I guess a 300h RPG is amazing if it's all story but, shit, that's gonna take a while! I'm honestly shocked. Like, how???

The weirdest part is that their original idea was doing similar to DOS2, like Act 1 is Fort Joy and the rest of the island. But they added so much side content. How is that even still profitable? Games are usually much shorter not because the devs are lazy but because they're on a budget. I'm completely flabbergasted! I didn't follow the development at all and didn't check out Early Access. I play unfinished broken games for a living, so the last thing I want in my private time is more of that. Also, the less about the story I know, the better. I want to be completely surprised by the finished product. DOS2 was one of the best RPGs I ever played. This has me super excited now. Larian could be my new favorite developer. Damn, they seem passionate. Thanks for the info. Fascinating!

Games are usually much shorter not because the devs are lazy but because they're on a budget. I'm completely flabbergasted! I hope for them that it is profitable. Also, the game probably gets shorter on replay, because you know where things are and how to deal with them. And I've just been thinking that I didn't have access to level 5 when I did a full PT, some stuff would probably take way less time with access to fireballs and multi-attacks. But in a way it's like Starfield: it's just full of optional side content.

But in a way it's like Starfield: it's just full of optional side content. I can spend hours getting Bunker Hill just right on a Fallout 4 playthrough. Or building up to the flyover at Finch Farm. Bethesda can just entertain me that way. I can see getting lost in Starfield if the base/ship construction is just right.

Bethesda can just entertain me that way. I can see getting lost in Starfield if the base/ship construction is just right. Me too. It's tbh what I'm looking forward to the most. I just hope it's not just prefabs like in Skyrim. That would make me cry and go back to FO4 after finishing the story. The prefabs in NMS are boring as hell too. Subnautica gets a pass from me and I had tons of fun with the limitations anyway. But what makes modded FO4 so special to me is the infinite creative potential that I haven't gotten tired of yet. Without base building I'd have stopped playing after 200h like FO3 and NV, now it's my most played game at around 1300h or something. Oops! And NMS is my second most played because base building again, even if not nearly as amazing as in FO4. Other people go crazy with the character roleplaying and different builds. I don't care that much about the first and not at all about the second. Took me five years to even do a second PT of FO4! But roleplaying settlements in a super immersive virtual dollhouse that's within a fully realized RPG? Yes, please! That has become the most fun thing ever to me. So I hope Starfield won't disappoint in that department. I can totally see myself going back to FO4, I just love the aesthetics of Fallout so much. But boy am I ready to take a break from that game and go crazy building shit in Starfield. Fingers crossed!

Bah, building outposts. I always go with function over look until I get tired of the mess and clean-up a little. Saying that, I can't wait to play with the ship building/customizing.

Yes, ship building sounds awesome too. I hope it's complex and customizable enough to create something somewhat unique. Also, hopefully lots of interior decorating allowed. One thing I never did in NMS was build much inside the freighters. Recent updates made that more appealing though so maybe I should have another go at it. People have wanted ship customization in that game for years. Loved decorating the submarine in Subnautica. Didn't really allow for much creativity but I just love giving stuff a personal touch. Will never forget though how I spent like a dozen hours decorating my Skyrim homestead and then the dog ran through and sent everything flying.

If Fallout 4 had an issue it's that for me there's only one satisfying plotline (the 3 faction solution) so for me each playthrough's plot is quite samey. But when there's a next gen version I'll surely play it yet again. As for Starfield, bring it on...

But when there's a next gen version I'll surely play it yet again. As for Starfield, bring it on... Yes it is. It's not a great RPG. It's an awesome game to me regardless but yeah not too much point replaying. So basically there's just two outcomes really. Destroy the Institute or... don't. I did have fun playing a cold hearted Nora supporting the Institute. Felt very different from my good natured Minute Man dude even though 99% of the game plays the same. At least I had her wear institute stuff and have a bunch of synths following her around (mod). Sadly Far Harbor bugged out and I couldn't finish it with the Institute raiding the place. For once choices mattered and it was completely bugged. Figures... But was cool having Nick so shocked, he was really appalled, lol. What was super disappointing though was that bringing the courser X6 along was pintless. He had zero dialogue. I really hope having the Far Harbor writers for Starfield means we get to see more of that otherwise great writing with real choices. That DLC was so good and everything the main story wasn't. That being said I did like the main plot a lot. And I kept every other faction around which I think is an exploit and not intended. But that was satisfying. I'm confident the story of Starfield will be good. Side content will have to be A LOT better than FO4 though. That was my biggest gripe with the game. FO3 had great sidequests. The only thing it did better for me (unpopular opinion, I know). In any case, as I said, whether or not Starfield becomes my new forever game depends on base building, lol. It's that simple. I'd get back into Skyrim in a heartbeat if it let me build villages and populate them. FO4 ruined me, it really did. Now every other Bethesda game is missing something.

Saying that, I can't wait to play with the ship building/customizing. I wonder how long it'll take the modders... A long time, because they will have to split it into modules, have "destroyed" version of said modules, might have to add specific functionalities inside of them to fit with the game features. It also won't fit with the weapons/system mount and the airlock systems. But I'm sure someone will add a poorly implemented version real fast...

Starfield Receives “Restricted” Rating in Australiagameinfinitus.com/news/starfield-receives-restricted-rating-in-australia/Starfield, the highly anticipated space-themed action role-playing game from Bethesda Game Studios, has been classified as “Restricted” in Australia. The game’s classification was determined by the Australian Classification Board, which noted that the game features “moderate impact” language and themes, “strong impact” violence, “very mild impact” nudity, and “restricted” interactive drug use. The game’s classification as “Restricted” in Australia means that it is not suitable for minors under the age of 18. Interactive drug use is a major factor in this rating, as it is a theme that has been deemed to be inappropriate for minors. It is important to note that Australia has some of the strictest video game classification laws in the world, and games that are classified as “Restricted” are not allowed to be sold or rented to minors. As for its rating in the rest of the world, it is still listed as pending for ESRB and PEGI, so we will have to wait and see what rating it receives from them.

Huh. I wonder if Germany will do the same. We don't like too much violence for kids. Fallout 4 had an 18 rating as well. So I wouldn't be surprised.
I wonder what mild nudity means. Will we get proper but tame romance scenes or just dead naked NPCs, lol.

If you compare the rating to FO4, it gets super weird. It had zero nudity but moderate sex. How does that even make sense, lol. So apparently fade to black romance scene is considered morderate sex. Bizarre!
I guess this means that Starfield won't even have that. I'm... disappointed. I mean, I find pixel sex total cringe to watch so I don't actually want to see any graphic details. But implied is fine. ME1 level romances were the best imo. I just want actual well done romances for once. They way they talked about it in interviews seemed to suggest we'll be getting more but that rating says something else. Unless the change to moderate nudity is somehow indicative of more in depth romances but then how do you get halfway naked without implied sex, lol. So my guess is the nudity is billboards or skimpy clothing on NPCs and any romance is still super superficial.
Skyrim had a little bit of nudity and sex. Where?! I haven't played it in years but wasn't there only marriage without any build up? My wood elf never married anyone. So I don't actually really know. Or is this about The Lusty Argonian Maid, lol?
I can't wrap my head around it yet. But one thing is for certain, Starfield will feature the most drug use which is astonishing considering FO4 had so much of it. And somehow Starfield has even more. Huh. Maybe I should play a total drug addict for the first time. I've never done that. Was told the junkie build in FO4 is totally OP.

In term of gameplay, I don't think Starfield will feature more drug use than FO4, but Neon, one of the big cities, is the only place where the drug Aurora is legal and produced so drugs might have a bigger impact storywise. Neon is also where one of the joinable faction is headquartered (Ryujin Industries). Also, it is my understanding that you can make your outpost produce drugs and then smuggle them around...

I'm trying not to invest too much emotional capital in Starfield until it arrives, but on paper, the game is totally my thing.
Amusing that some now consider that the future of Xbox rides on whether the game will run 60fps on console.

I'm in the mood for a space RPG and Archetype's game hasn't even been announced yet, so I really wanna like this game. Still worried that my only experience with Bethesda games is Skyrim, which I got bored of really quickly, and that the gameplay reveal last year wasn't particularly exciting. Guess we'll see next month.
