God, I cannot emphasis enough how much I love that you can roleplay a character that loves science and is a bit of a dork. Also, travelling in space is so gorgeous and I cannot put words to my feelings on it except through this clip: I agree with it being a great change of pace with sisRyder from the old days of typical badass Shep. I'm intrigued to find out how well sisRyders and broRyders different personalities come across when I get round to a broRyder play through. I think Bioware giving you two totally different people to play and not just a male/female version of the same person is a stroke of genius.

It seems that if you keep the default name for your character, your character will then sometimes be referred to by that name. Basically, Sara Ryder will be referred to as Sara and Scott Ryder will be referred to as Scott. If you've chosen a custom name then you are not referred to by name.

For those who has played the early access, can you please give some insight on the soundtrack/ambient music? Does it really have a sci-fi vibe like Deus Ex or like a 90s action flick like ME2? I may not be the best person to judge this but I thought the music was good and fitted with a Mass Effect game.
Additionally, I didn't spend so much time fiddling around with the radio in the cabin but I thought the music there was a mix between Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2. Also, I can happily report that you can choose which song you want and turn it off without having to cycle through the music like you had to in the trilogy. The songs are even named so you'll know which is which.
When I mean soundtrack I mean ambient music, the stuff you hear when you are out exploring, walking around hubs and whatnot. ME1: Had exploration and the uncharted worlds had a nice 1980s synth sound even the ambient music for Noveria for example was really nice. ME2 - ME3: Focused more on hard orchestral sounds and thus less sci-fi and more action shooter. Mass Effect originally was always supposed to be an atmosphere that drew inspiration from late 70s and early 80s sci-fi such as Blade Runner for example. ME1 hit this mark well but ME2 and ME3 didnt. I just fear the ME1 influence will be lost in MEA for a more dumbed down approach like ME2.

I was finally able to save manually so yay! Now if I could just get the color scheme for my outfits to stick, that'd be great. I can successfully change the outfit, but not the color. I don't see an "apply" or "save" button, so how is it supposed to work? When you're choose the colour you need to confirm the colour by pressing whatever key is bind to confirming (it was Space for me on PC). So basically you click on the tier you want to recolour, you confirm it, then do the next tier - confirm it... You have to confirm every colour seperately (no confirming of the whole outfit itself). As for the soundtrack, you can download it on the masseffectarchives site.

Hmmm, I'd say the ambient music can be a mix of ME1 and ME2-ME3 music in the sense that sometimes it is one and sometimes it is the other depending on the setting and situation. I don't feel the ME1 influence including in terms of music was lost: there were times while exploring on the second world where I felt the music was like that of ME1 but again, I may not be the best judge on that.

Here is the Mass Effect: Andromeda's soundtrack.
Note: While thevideo should not contain spoilers but I would not recommend looking at the tracks' titles in the video description since said titles may be named so after events or characters.

It's definitely not the entire trial as I was able to start making manual saves at some point around where you are now. It's annoying, but think I saw a developer (I think it was Mike Gamble) say that they were looking into allowing manual saves on priority missions in a tweet, so maybe they'll patch it in. Oh thank god, I did not like not being able to manually save especially since i'm the kind of person who reloads if I dislike a dialogue option I choose. I also couldn't figure whether there really wasn't a quicksave option or if I was just missing it?
I haven't noticed a quick save option. I've tried pressing F5 but I don't think it does anything. It also isn't listed in the key-bindings, that I noticed. Just like Printscreen doesn't take a screenshot like it does in DAI. Why have a screenshot folder created by default if you can't auto save pics in it?
It also appears that all char files are going to be dumped into a single folder, just like DAI. However, it looks like they may have pulled their heads out slightly and put the char ID part of the save file name at the beginning instead of in the middle so they are at least sortable by char. I'm going to test it out later by creating a second character. That's something. I never got a hang of whatever system the save files in Dragon Age: Inquisition worked by and it was a complete bitch to replay segments of the game because of that. Heaven help me if I was trying to sort my files.
I stil wish we could have had the ability to name save files like we could in Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age: II.
It was the main reason why I would start a character and play them all the way through, other than maybe creating a new one, rather than playing several at once. It's too difficult to figure out what saves go to which char. At least these are sortable by the char ID, so even though they are still a jumble of numbers, at least they are all together.

I can see what some people have said about eye movement but it honestly dosen't bother me. I think my only problem in that department is in regards to the camera distance. Sometimes, the camera has speaking characters in a close-up that I find, well, to be too close. I would have liked for the camera to back away a bit so it instead just have the head in shot rather than the face. Basically, I’d rather that the camera focus on the whole head and not only on the face in those scenes.

I've had so many problems in that department in other games as well, that I've just gone over to only using Bandicam for taking screenshots now. That way, I don't have to worry if I'll end up with only the occasionally or no screenshots at all.
You know, I think I’m going to keep my little notebook by my computer and then write down the number on my manual saves along with it’s about. That way, I can replay segments and record footage without needing to shift through countless saves named the same. I think it might be the best way of doing it for me.

At the moment, I don't know how I feel about so I'll have to personally experience its execution in the game and then who knows? There was another idea implemented that I genuinely thought I'd never like but which the game managed to execute well enough that I honestly didn't mind it and thought it was a good way of tying some things together.

Okay, here is what I wanted to talk about in regards to roleplaying in Mass Effect: Andromeda. It is mostly precautions that I’ve based on my impressions of the early access. I've tagged it but it does not contain spoilers: it is about the dialogue system and concerning the roleplaying range of Ryder's character.
I'll start by saying that Ryder has or, at least, starts off with a personality that is more defined than that of Shepard and Hawke as is most apparent in auto-dialogue which displays this personality and is often non-neutral. An example is how Ryder might show concern for a squadmate and be friendly towards them. You don’t have as much freedom in defining Ryder as a character as you had with other characters.
That’s not to say that you have nothing, of course. It just limits what you may wish to portray Ryder as being like, say, rude or always professional and I feel this may be something that some people want to be prepared for. There is still something to roleplay: it is just that Ryder already has a personality that forms the basis of Ryder’s character and the player expands upon that through dialogue options and actions. You still recieve options to decide Ryder's motivation such as on why they went to the Andromeda galaxy and how Ryder feels about a current situation.
In terms of dialogue options, there are times where you’ll have four-five dialogue options, you are mostly going to have two dialogue options.
I should note that this is based on my impression of the early access and so it may change over the course of the game as the story progresses, character relationships develops and the consequences of decisions are felt but I thought I'd share these thoughts since it took me by surprise and it may be nice for some people to prepare themselves for this beforehand.

Well, I encountered the progression block in the game last night and I've done just about everything barring multiplayer so I think I'll start gathering my thoughts and formulating that review. After playing the 10 hrs, do you think it's safe to watch the last 3 briefings? As in, everything in the briefings will be things you already saw in the game so far? When you're choose the colour you need to confirm the colour by pressing whatever key is bind to confirming (it was Space for me on PC). So basically you click on the tier you want to recolour, you confirm it, then do the next tier - confirm it... You have to confirm every colour seperately (no confirming of the whole outfit itself). Hmm, I thought that's what I was doing. I guess I'll try it again later on.

Yeah, I think so if you've played the storyline 'till the point where you reach the second planet. By then, you should have learned by yourself all of the things that the briefings might spoil. There is still the matter of the alien on the page of the sixth and final briefing that you should definitely avoid: just cover the left side of the screen until you've clicked play and the video is running.
Seriously, I've been about ten hours into the game's story and it just baffles me even more that the page for the sixth pre-Andromeda briefing have that alien featured.

^ Finally.
Anyway, I'll hopefully enjoy playing Andromeda. As of now, I am having an issue with my right ear, so it's most likely that I'll be hearing most of the audio in my left ear. It's frustrating, but I'll hardly notice if I'm focused on the game.

Here is an update about the pre-order bonus and some of the deluxe edition bonuses.
Pre-Order Bonus
The Deep Space Explorer set's helmet provides a +10% Encounter XP increase and the armor provides a +15% Encounter XP increase as well as a +5% Weapon Damage. It is apparently color customizable. It appears that the helmet can be used for mix-and-match sets but that the rest of the armor is one piece though it should then be possbile to use a different helmet for the body set.
Here is an in-menu image of the armor as worn by the male Ryder:
The vehicle customization is the Midas Touch which is a golden paintjob for the Nomad vehicle. In the selection menu it appears to look very blackish but on the actual Nomad it looks as it should and very bling-bling.
The Deluxe Bonus
The Scavenger set's helmet provides a -10% Weapon Weight and a +10% Max Ammo. The armor provides a -15% Weapon Weight, +15% Max Ammo and +10% Sell Prices. It is apparently color customizable. It appears that the helmet can be used for mix-and-match sets but that the rest of the armor is one piece though it should then be possbile to use a different helmet for the body set.
Here is an in-menu image of the armor as worn by the male Ryder:
The casual outfit is a hoddie. Like the other casual outfits, the hoodie can be color customized.
Here is an in-menu image of the casual outfit as worn by the male Ryder:
The Pyjak pet which I won't go into because it involves in-game areas but basically, you'll start the process of getting it by reading and acknowledging an email.
There are also a set of Pathfinder weapons: the assault rifle was described by the reviewer, who played on normal difficulty, as being very powerful and there to give you that edge early on the game if you wanted it.
Note: the reviewer showed the special items using a male Ryder and I've been unable to locate any other videos featuring the items including as worn by the female Ryder.

Oh and I shared the female versions of the default outfits but I have only just now found the male versions. There is no difference between the female and male version of the first two outfits so I didn't take any pitures of the male version. There are differences between the male and female version of the third outfit so I've put them side by side here: Personally, I think I prefer the female version but I do have a weakness for scarves I think I'm still going to go with the hoodie since it is more my and my character's style. I'm thinking of dying it a nice light blue.

I'm down to only 30 minutes left in the trial period so I think I'm done until official release. Otherwise I would just spend the last 30 minutes trying to drive the Nomad and get even more frustrated. That thing is terrible to try to control, way worse than the Mako. And trying to move around inside a settlement, in an attempt to leave it, is a joke. I leveled up to 5, I think, with my female character.
Now back to ME3 and quarian problems.

I think I'm going to see if I can use the body armor of the Scavenger set with the helmet of the Deep Explorer set. I really like the scarf that comes with the former and the helmet that comes with the latter. If I can, I think I'll color customize it white with blue to match the Initiative's colors.

If what I heard is correct, then we will be unable to save during priority missions. Isn't that....dangerous, considering the higher difficulties? You'd have to start all over again, if you die.

Well that sucks. Basically the illusion of choice and that Ryder may not really be ours in the same way Shepard, Hawke, The Warden, and even the IQ was.

I still have 4 hours left of the trial. I have played default Sara and she is adorable, playing as a space-nerd. Might be able to play a little tonight if I'm lucky.
