One sentiment I've long felt is that Bioware have been somewhat too focused on the companions and the ensemble cast.

I love Mass Effect, but I didn't love it initially because of Wrex, Tali etc, rather I loved it because of its world, and plot. Even Mass Effect 2, I believe it's always been a misinterpretation to believe the companions carried the game.

In truth the ME2 companions never banter, hardly speak outside of loyalty missions, and have scant few Normandy conversations if they aren't being romanced.

What carried the game was the loyalty, and recruitment missions that put us in a wide variety of situations, and worlds. Whether it be espionage with Garrus, or medieval clan escapades with Grunt for example.

I think the same with Origins too. Morrigan, and Alistair were alright, but the the main story, and locations along the way, like Orzammar, ultimately made the game great.

Whereas, I would say from the Citadel DLC onwards, it has been like Bioware have been so focused on building up a companion group we'll love, that they forget to build a substantial plot, and interesting world to explore.

In a way, connection to companions has to be earned, and that needs to be done by marching through half decent plots with them, and not just making them the focus.

You're right, there was no winning this no matter what, but I'm moreso talking about people who actually still fans of Dragon Age (and not just the '' non-woke '' DAO). 

I decided to watch the trailer again. Not sure why, but I decided to read some of the comments. One person said How did we go from dark fantasy to saturday morning cartoons? Another said Bioware, please sell mass effect and dragon age to someone who actually loves the games.

I'm not out to get the game, and for the record, I liked MEA overall. I'm not some hater saying I'm underwhelmed to get my hate on. I'm saying it cus its true. Sorry if you feel like its peeing on your parade.

I'm not sure if anyone here agrees with me, but looking across the board on Reddit, 4chan, ResetEra and Tumblr, it seems like an overwhelmingly incredibly negative reaction.
I'm surprised myself there's so much positivity around the game here - maybe we're a bit more obsessive compared to the others?

Oh, looks like I need to delete more mods from my mods list.

I do think the issue with the quippy part of the trailer is that it wasn't matched or filtered by other parts. Alongside the fact that the direction of the trailer, with how the companions were introduced, seemed to fit a hero shooter game.

I do hope the gameplay part is going to showcase the game well enough.
