Only salvation I see for Bioware is do complete 180 and make DA4 full blown rpg, like with Origins. Bring back everything: stats, skills, backgrounds, ton of c&c and dialogue options, etc. No Frostbite and fucking large maps/open world: you suck at it.Like the classics, with good writing. People would love that, run it on "Bioware returning to it's roots" marketing campaign. Respawn/Apex Legends is already more successful than anything Bioware did, straying more and more from what they did in the past. What keeps them alive at this point, is being EA's only "rpg studio". The only problem is, as others have said already, will EA let them? Because this model is mostly what gives EA money. Not from sales, but from microtransactions. EA just doesn't care about money from sales anymore. Well, what option do they have? Post ME2, Bioware's rep has downhill landslide ( only exception with Inquisition's lukewarm reception). Smaller scope, quality oriented game could turn things around, in public reception. Even if they don't end up making killer profit. ( Ofc, this would take for EA to try and look at this from long term investment point of view...naive, probably)

How in the world was Inquisition a lukewarm reception? It was BioWare’s most successful game in their history.

How in the world was Inquisition a lukewarm reception? It was BioWare’s most successful game in their history. Technically all we know is it had its best launch. It’s reception may have been lukewarm which caused a steeper drop off in sales than previous titles. It’s all guessing though. Maybe it’s sales continued to thrive

I suppose a argument could be made about Skyrim paving the way an getting more ppl interested in that type of game which has lasted to now, regardless what anyone thinks of skyrim it was pretty popular an ppl were shouting for more an it was only 3 years after Skyrims base release that DA:I was released so the hunger was there.
I like to think it stood on it's own an they simply tried to make work in one game what worked in previous 2 with varying degrees of success, personally i liked it but wasnt made blind to it's faults just like i liked skyrim but wasn't blind to it's faults.
Also for me personally i dont judge a game being a success from total sales since i basically dont care how well it sells unlike the publishers, i deem a game a success for me if it keeps me playing and entertained both of which DA:I did on a high humber of playthroughs on both the p4 an xbox.

I've just watched Angry Joe's review entirely now, and I found it spot on. It covers everything in the game, good and bad (except for technical details like engine optimization). I think that a 4/10 from someone who has reached and invested time in the endgame, and is able to evaluate how empty it is, is a fair score. I myself viewed this game as a 6/10 in the beginning, but at 24 hours in I feel like it is more of a 5/10. It could get as low as a 4 indeed though, the endgame seems to be just barren. Anthem is arguably barely worth 50 hours of gameplay at its current state, which, for a looter-shooter, is abysmal.

Bioware should have clearly invested in more Cornfields to build up hype.

Yes the game may need more content and mission diversity, they will add it, there were schedule somewhere This game not ME 1/2/3, DA it is multiplayer loot shooter. so why translate ME or DA story expectations to it, for me the story is OK. I may miss love interests and so but it is different game. I actually enjoy this game way more than Destiny 1/2. And i am not EA fan at all(just to know)

So yeah, "don't expect a good story" you say, but would you also say "don't expect a good looter shooter"? Then what is this game supposed to be good at?

For me combat is way better than in Dest 1/2 , the loot is not ok i agree, same as Diblo 3 on release. There are bad releases lately for example For Honor but what it matters is: are they plan to fix it, cause if they are not this will be my last EA, bioware game.

What's wrong with the loot? Far too many things. Really small loot pool for one. RNG useless stats. Too low drop rate for having a 99% chance to get a shitty item anyway. 90% of the guns are useless stat sticks at GM difficulty and that is only if you are lucky to roll good stats on them. Ability synergy is too limited, especially with so few abilities to choose from (and again you can be limited to use an ability you don't like because that's the best drop you got and the shitty drop rate refuses to give you the thing you want. After 70+ Masterworks I still don't have a MW Ice Storm. And even if you get it, there is 99% odds it will be with worse stats than you need). Edit: Also a tiny tidbit the developers were "kind" enough not share with us is that the boss drops from the GM Strongholds are hard-coded! (added with a bandaid patch, don't forget). They are always and only a MW ability and never Legendary. So there is absolutely no point for many players to even get to the boss after the second SH chest.

I searched around, couldn't find anything patch note or other source that mentions this. I believe it was stated (can't find source) that GM1 bosses will not drop Legendary, but GM2 is supposed to at a low rate, and GM3 at a higher rate.
