The days of Bioware putting out great SP story driven games is a thing of the past. So am I worried that some senior people at Bioware are jumping ship? Nope. Just wondering what took them so long. Probably cause that had nothing to do with it. BioWare may be "known for" their single player stories, but several, if not all of their games prior to Dragon Age had multiplayer functionality. Honestly, it's weird how everybody posting in here just assumes that "all these men leaving BioWare wanted to make a game that I specifically would have liked, and EA is forcing them to do something else, those monsters!" Like, chill. None of these men ever knew you existed. That idea doesn't make sense to me. A much saner critical-of-Bioware guess would be Bioware's no longer a great environment to work in or working at Bioware no longer benefits them.

So he left the job, ok, his choice, there are a number of reasons people leave their jobs & after so long in one company, maybe he wanted a break, or the challenge of going somewhere new, working with different people, that's not to say he disliked his colleagues, just, time for a change.
Hell, I've got a friend, who has just got a job of a store manager, but he told me that he's always looking on Indeed, so if he were to leave his job after say, just a couple of months because he saw something better on Indeed, does that mean the store he was managing was shit?
End of the day, his choice, I wish him well in the future & that's it.

Good move on his part if he saw the writing on the wall.
Maybe, he peeked into this forum and was shocked at the expectations which are no where near the game design goals. Skedaddling is perhaps one of his best decisions..

Sometimes I just want Bioware to shut down their studios because I want the media's nonstop exaggerating the exodus of devs leaving to end once and for all.

Ben Irving was lead producer on Anthem, not DA4. I'm not worried. I have said I've been worried that Bioware has lost so many senior people that drove where the company and a series headed (the doctors, Flynn, Laidlaw, Gaider, Hudson, Karypshyn) but a producer isn't really one of those. So I wish them the best in all their future pursuits and will leave it at that Anyway, part of what a producer does is make sure things get made in a timely fashion, and you know what? Looking at Anthem I don't blame them for chucking things in ahaha ... just a little jokeOf those the only ones I don't miss are Hudson (though he returned) Laidlaw and Gaider. And the most important one even if it wasn't producer (this one I dearly miss though), Brent Knowles. (Sorry just had to mention him with all those important names there)

Ben Irving leaving is actually a good thing. People who didn't play SWTOR don't know about him, but the guy almost caused the death of the game with his ideas (which unfortunately he seems to have pushed on Anthem once he was kicked out of SWTOR dev team). Since he's been replaced on SWTOR, that dev team have made great stride in fixing the damage he caused to the game.
As for Fernando Melo, I have only known him as the the producer for the website teams and later multiplayer of ME3/DAI/MEA. BioWare probably already have someone who was under him that got promoted to his job, which is actually something BioWare does a lot which can't happen unless the "top" leaves eventually as growth is limited.

Since he's been replaced on SWTOR, that dev team have made great stride in fixing the damage he caused to the game. I've heard this before. Which bad ideas were his? His most famous is Galactic Command (and the gearing changes that came along with it) as that almost killed SWTOR by itself. His plan was to have no more expac too and just sprinkle stuff over time, but under his tenure (lasted 2 years) there was a drop in QoL improvements and raid/PvP content compared to the years before and after. It's like he just wanted to focus on solo story because that was the most popular feature. Since Keith replaced him in early 2017, the game has gotten unexpected QoL and raid/PvP features on top of the story content and fixing the mess Irving left beyond. SWTOR is also getting a new expansion after 3 years (production on it started after Irving left the team). I'm pretty sure the SWTOR team is smaller then when under Ben Irving but it seems to be achieving a lot more.

There were conspiracy theories about the DA4 trailer not being verified by EA? Also, this statement brings up EA being upset with the Jetpack gimmick, but we know that Jasons Schreier's article mentioned that Andrew Wilson actually enjoyed the flight mechanics when he playtested Anthem. EDIT: I think that same article also said that EA reset BioWare's budget with DA4. What publisher would do that on a game that they never wanted to happen?
IDK. I'll just wait and see with DA4.

There were conspiracy theories about the DA4 trailer not being verified by EA? Those were circulated around the start of the year, with people speculating that Casey was making some sort of power move against the people that just hired him. It’s a really silly idea that they would be able to sneak that by.

I simply don't give a damn about the franchise anymore, i'm just simply curious on how the game will turn out. It's not the best analogy but I can't come up with something better. Basically it's like when you are curious on what will happen if you put your fingers in the plug.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but, I guess this thread is as good as any... archive.fo/OHwipSeeing as this was posted on June 30, 2019, with how "leaky" BioWare seems to be in terms of information, there would have already have been a Jason Schreier article titled "Dragon Age 4 in Trouble!!!". It's not like he's lost those "contacts" and, considering the response to the "Anthem" and "Dragon Age" articles earlier this year, he'd be all over this like stink on a cadaver. Where I, personally, will start to get a little weary about the future of the game is right around Nov 3rd, the 10th anniversary of "Dragon Age: Origins". If there is barely anything to celebrate the milestone, the skepticism will certainly increase.

At this point, even if DA4 is in full production and totally happening, the fruits of that labor aren't anywhere near. It's definitely a 2021 title if that. So getting worked up over it is kinda whatever atm, especially since there are other games coming much more sooner. Dragon Age is a fun franchise that is near and dear to my heart, and always will be, but I really don't have much investment in whatever Dragon Age 4 will end up being, and whether it'll end up being anything at all.
