Even though this topic has been discussed/argued/fought to death, I couldn't resist after such a nod to the fandom in the teaser video.

Voted kill, but would have picked neither if it was there. Trapping him somewhere where he has 0 influence for eternity sound much better.

After hearing about his horrible plans at the end of trespasser and the countless people he's going to end up murdering I'd never marry him. I would rather stop him while avoiding killing him if possible but since we only get the option to kill or marry on this poll, my answer is kill.
I do think he was an interesting and well written character though, added a good amount of drama.

With respect to Solas, I think there’s a very sharp divide between killing one to save many, and killing one to potentially save many. The first is a very easy choice, but it only exists in the world of hypothetical trolleys. Usually the info is nowhere that complete. Even killing a proven murderer may not save people’s lives, because it helps reinforce a norm that killing is within the range of acceptable things to do. In countries that treat killing as so deviant that even the state can’t do it, murder rates are lower. Generally, killing paves the way for more killing. Any civilization that claims we need human sacrifice to keep the sun turning... is probably just trying to maintain their grip on empire. And yes, I realize the irony of bringing this up in the context of an RPG. The whole genre is predicated on the idea that human sacrifice (of the villains, at minimum) is necessary and will always be necessary. If there was a way to get that same fix of tactics and positioning in a peaceful game, believe me, I’d be all over that. And of course, in a game world, we’ll have full information about what each choice leads to, eventually. I really doubt that killing Solas will result in positive change (the Fade has a habit of resurrecting spirits, and a spirit as infamous as the Dread Wolf would almost certainly come back Worse), but if it does, then my opinion on the ethics might shift. However, my PCs would still make choices based on past info, not future data that only I know. All that said, he’s really not my type. So I guess I’d marry him to all those Lavellans he keeps gawping at.

I voted Kill since he needs to be stopped before he commits genocide. But at this point they might as well kill him off between games since otherwise it's just Corypheus 2.0.

Marry. Duh All jokes aside, it's hard to choose for me before I know all about his motivation. I genuinely think he is not the main threat. it's really not that simple and i'm loving it. Like Loghain. When I played DAO for the first time (8 years ago, cough) killing him was not a choice for me at all- it was a given. he was the bad guy, betrayed my hero, because of him Duncan (the good guy TM) was killed and yada yada. Now I look differently on his situation, it's not black and white anymore. Whatever the case may be, I am sure either killing or letting him go won't be an easy choice for us, playing DA4. I think there will be revelations for both parties: those, who started the game with the intention of saving him, and those who just wanted to scramble the Egg.

If there was a way to get that same fix of tactics and positioning in a peaceful game, believe me, I’d be all over that.
Did you ever play the original Planescape: Torment? In that, if you maxed out your wisdom score you could talk your way out of many situations, except when people were determined to kill you. The final boss battle was resolved by me simply using logic to end it without a blow being struck. I really enjoyed that approach but then I've never been a great fighter. Still, I'd really love to be able to defeat Solas with logic. He seems so sure that he knows more than everyone else, mostly because he deliberately keeps back important details, that I'd get a real satisfaction from proving him wrong that way.
Incidentally, it is not possible for me to vote as the "neither" category was not an option. At the moment I generally fall on the "kill him" side simply because I've not been given any other option to save the world yet. The desire to marry him fizzled out after he broke up with me in the main game and then left without explaining why. My character may still be devoted to him but I'm not.

This line made me imagine: end of DA4, devastation all around, Solas is one step away from destroying the Veil and... Ben Shapiro comes out of the shadows and starts to obliterate Solas with facts&logic (TM). that is extremely funny for me (i know i'm weird)

I don't really see a logic scenario in play as things stand. Solas plan seems logical, restoring world etc. Now its also diabolical but he' aware of that so that's beside the point.

I voted for Both. My Inquisitors are pretty evenly split between Kill/Redeem, so I’ll probably try out both options in different PT’s. Even if the Inquisitor ends up having nothing to say about the fate of Solas, it is highly unlikely that all of my new PC’s will lean the same way.

I never understood popularity with "making Solas tranquil". Seems unnecessarily cruel to me.
Just kill him, if you don't see the appeal in redemption.

And that's if whatever he did to make himself immortal (or at least stop himself from aging at all since the days of Arlathan) doesn't come with immunity to it in the first place.
