Implications highly unpleasant You make light of it? I try to make light of everything. Even the most tragic, painfully ignorant stuff. Life is short, after all. We all need a good laugh now & then

" A strong female protagonist" But i am a strong female protagonist like in DA I and in Skyrim ( i cannot be any stronger in that game ) and in Tomb Raider in Dishonored II and more games out there what more do you want.

" A strong female protagonist" But i am a strong female protagonist like in DA I and in Skyrim ( i cannot be any stronger in that game ) and in Tomb Raider in Dishonored II and more games out there what more do you want. I've always gotten the sense that when people talk about how there's not enough strong female protagonists they're either unaware of custom PC RPGs or think they don't count for whatever reason, because they've existed for a long time now and there's always been a good amount of them. Hell even in 1998 with Baldur's Gate you had a belt that could change your character's gender if you wanted to play as a transgender character, and could assign a female voice to a male character(or vice versa). It seems to me that it's historically been primarily FPS that's been one big sausage fest.

I want a strong female protagonist to have her way with me I read this as "tie me to a bed and have her way with me" which made me think of this: Dunno why you'd want that, though.

Regina from Dino Crisis. All business, but gets wrecked by velociraptors and OHK'ed by the T-rex just like anyone would. Edit: It occurred to me that it's possible some members here were in preschool or not yet born when this game came out.* So the short version is Dino Crisis = Resident Evil with dinosaurs. *This is because I am OLD

For me its not about being a strong female protag but about being a well developed character. IE:
My love for Alien Isolation is endless.
And one can't forget Shodan.

And one can't forget Shodan. You actually can, quite easily in fact. It comes from a game I doubt very many people play every day. ._. I wouldn't count that thing just because its not even a person but a computer to begin with even assuming you bother to delve into the insanity of SS2 to begin with.

Given the lack of overall representation, the perceived problem of the "strong female" character is seen as representing all women. I believe that because of this it's probable to irk many female gamers because they may not see this representation matching their self, but instead some kind of theoretical perfect archetype.
I would imagine this perception will continue to better itself since we are seeing more and more varied depictions of women in games in general.

What can I say? System Shock 2, along with Fallout 1 where my first forays into crpgs. Steam usually has a decent sale for system shock 2 most times. Get it when you can everyone!
Plus they are doing a remake of system shock 1. A full remake. Looks like it might hit 2018.
Plus I got the enhanced version so that devs can see there's still love for SS series.
But getting back to female protags, as long as any character is written well, then I am all for it. Oh yes! Since I am on a nostalgia run:
That game had an excellent cast also.
I know some people think gaming hasnt had decent women characters but thats not true. Esp with old school RPGs. PC Gaming has an excellent selection. Even when I started in the mid 1990s.

I was really looking forward to Kaede being one in Danganronpa V3... ...but then I read what happened in Chapter 1... *sheds tender tears* Still getting the game, because the other spoilers put the game's story on the level of Metal Gear Solid 2, and I have to experience it for myself.

The problem with strong female protagonists arises when "strong" and "female" become their only noticeable character traits, so the result is boring.
That, or when someone is so intent on making their female character strong they forget to give them any weaknesses and all sense of depth obliterated.

I think thats why I ended up liking Finn quite a bit more. Rey was adorable at times but she's like a hacked Revan, where you mod them to be a jedi at the beginning.
