Not sure how some of you have managed to remain committed to tracking Dragon Age for the better part of a decade. Kept the community alive too. I broke a few years in haha. Hope the wait will be worth it. Does 1468 posts on BSN translate into not tracking Dragon Age? Talking about me? Yea 99% of them are from the time around DAI and later MEA. Just saying that Bioware is lucky to have the people here as dedicated fans even after all this time.

Praying for a conventionally attractive basic male human fighter, sassy and sexy elf rogue, angry dwarf barbarian type, and tsundere female mage tbh.
Bring back the cliches. I miss em.
Well you have my permission to make the fighter at least bi this time around.

Owlcat's Pathfinder games might have way too many junk items in the world, but the inventory handling itself is smooth and easy. Completely free of console clunkiness... which is probably what we will be getting with DAD again. *Collects all Masterwork+ items even when I have 1 million gold*

I've never played an outright evil character, especially in Dragon Age. In Mass Effect I've played a good portion of the renegade options with a few exception (rachni queen, David Archer), but never full renegade. I don't enjoy being an arse, I don't play these characters like they're saints either, though. My boy scout Paragon Shepard got pretty "renegade" (Mass Effect 1-style) towards the latter parts of the story as some of his walls started breaking down and the pressure got to him. I loved that BioWare did that.

I remember when I first played Final Fantasy 10 like 20 years ago, I fell in love with the sprawling skill tree with all the possible paths and choices. A decade or so later when I opened Path of Exile, I had that same feeling of wonder. It's genuinely my favorite type of progression. I don't care that there are generally optimal routes. I just like having the choice to go wherever I want and do whatever fits the RP I assign my character. If this is where Dragon Age is heading, I'll be quite happy. I mean I'm already happy there's some new for Dragon Age. Looking forward to see and hear more. I feel the same with a caveat though. Path of Exile is punishing on you if you choose the wrong skills and there's no way to respec past early game which means you can get a fair way into the game and you need to restart. Which results in most people thoroughly consulting guides before they make a character. So I don't mind there being optimal routes, just that the game doesn't punish you for not choosing optimal routes I know some people love that with PoE but it just gives me anxiety TBH Does anxiety include staring at the skill tree for hours in indecision? Can relate.

There's been real time combat since DAO. The only thing that bothers me here is that the team will be more like ME2, but tbh if I can command them in a similar vein thats fine by me. What makes Dragon Age for me is the dialogue and roleplaying. Combat has never been the draw. I'd say the best Bioware combat is ME3/MEA and if thats where DA is heading, then I'm fine with it. My biggest annoyance with this to though I can easily see the reasons why they did it. I much prefer my squad to be 4+ as well and its going to be interesting if they keep DAs class mechanics (as I am still expecting them to do so) its going to be a lot harder balancing out things when your not going to be able to have all of at least one class with you, or mix and match, with just three. But this is the second most likely thing I find from the leaks, unfortunatley, since the picture back in the day also showed a team of three battling the Darkspawn... Hmm actually when I have time or maybe someone else can go through all the BTS material and see how many party members tend to be depicted at once. I want to see the actually product before I make a judgement tbh. I might dislike the evolution. Honestly it's been so long since I've played Dragon Age that I don't know what to think about anymore. I just hope the game is good, and my standards aren't all that high.

It's genuinely difficult for me. I'm such a softie. I always default to playing good characters.
Currently playing Pathfinder and contemplating how I'll play a Demon playthrough. Struggling.

Always interesting to me to see people correlate quality with how "dirty" or "gritty" something is.
Anyway, my take is that it's only a problem when you force the player character to be an active participant in something that is offensive enough to make certain people very uncomfortable, and given what we've seen from BioWare, that's probably what Weekes was referring to.

All I want is an attractive human male face, short yet stylish hair, and a stubble option that isnt pixelated, all on top of a thicc slab of beautiful man marble.
Bioware always delivers for me. Hope they keep it up.

Honestly have no strong feelings about his fate. I think he's a great character that can be taken in any direction without it feeling off.
I only hope he isn't reduced to a mustache twirler but I trust Bioware to not do that.

Dreadwolf being one word is weird to me.
I think (The) Dread Wolf would have been better maybe.
Good choice though.

Difficulty balance. I find the game too easy and snowbally on Normal but Nightmare is just stat bloat.
DAI got it right with the challenges like no potion restocking etc so I'd like them to continue that and add more interesting mechanics on tougher difficulties (another challenge I liked but was bundled with other stuff)

People really going down a rabbit hole parsing that statement.
Probably just means the characters will be more reactive to player choices and actions.

I hope the entire DA4 cast is gays and lesbians so that it doesnt feel like a checkbox. Well actually make sure we have at least one twink , one bear, and one gymbro. One twink, one bear and one gymbro sounds good (like a blues song) ... as long as there is one heterosexual romance and one playersexual romance for each binary sex (total four). Sure a token straight is allowed.

The best thing about Fenris is how he utterly and totally owned Anders in most of the banters they had, just destroyed him. No the best thing about Fenris is how he utterly and totally pushed my Hawke into the wall before laying into him in the rivalry romance.

I see Solasmancers remain ever faithful. I remember being really into Andrew Ryan's stuff. Seems like a decade ago. The fandom continues to grow and cultivate itself. :-) I've just divorced myself from the Dragon Age world to forget that it's been so long since my favorite franchise had a release. I occasionally come back here cause I have no willpower though. Once DA4 is in max-hype mode I'll probably spend a solid couple of weeks just catching up to a tub of icecream. Or two.
