I'm intrigued by this Reyes. I hope he's a squadmate. It's so close to release when will we know more about characters... I don't mind if he's not a squadmate. I liked how romances with the advisers went in DAI and I am perfectly happy with him whispering in my ear on missions Oh man... if only I could have had Cullen whispering in my ear in DAI during missions....

I kinda wish they would not go the multi-species route but instead pick one race to be playable for that particular game in the future. Just as they do now with humans. So for example when the Ryder "legacy" is done, be it one game or several. They can focus on another species as protagonist for one or several games, for example Turian, female or male. Give me that or Multi-species choice in the future. Surely the human only thing can be done with Ryder, please bioware? There is so much more to explore in this universe theyve created. And giving us a chance to play another race really opens up how much we can explore them, their manners and culture. I hope at least. I personally would not buy a game that forced me to be something other than human. So having a game where you are only allowed to be Asari or Krogan would not work for me. And I think most people would feel the same. If anything, it would have to be a multi-choice species. And even then, someone will complain that their favorite was not among the choices. I feel similarly, though I will say that if the race is enough like a human, I wouldn't mind. Say like elves or something.

DA2 was the only game that I felt slightly unsatisfied with the romances. At first, I was so excited to romance Anders I could hardly stand it but after I finished that playthrough, I was upset. Then I tried Fenris and something about that romance just didn't resonate with me. I love Fenris and the whole angsty romance I did with him was fantastic but... it just didn't feel satisfying to me.
I really wish Sebastian would have been a full-blown romance option. I think I could have gotten into that one if it were. So I guess he's my choice for "if I could have anyone".

Sounds like me! A big hurdle for me is that my Dragon Age Soul is not Dalish. I thought they were okay, but I didn't get what BEING Dalish meant. And DAI has a lot of religion stuff in general, but there are a lot of unsettling things you learn as an elf. How does your character really feel about that new knowledge? You could go the usual route of sadness and a feeling of loss but you could also feel anger at your own people. Or you could go resolute; an option I personally like. Anyways. My point is that, one of the big things you get with Solas is the optional removal of Vallaslin. Playing a character that you feel meh about and don't know how they'd feel about this knowledge can lead to the whole thing just being flat. Like, I dunno if I want the tattoo off. Do I want it off because I'm anti slavery? Because I'm mad at what we got wrong? What led me to put that tattoo on my face in the first place? Just following tradition or was a sense of pride, a love of my people, that guided me when I was younger? Without an elf rooted strongly in what it means to be Dalish for THEM... I can't imagine the Solas romance as being any good at all. Agree, this is a good point. I'm a self-professed elf-lover... I ate this Dalish shit up I get SERIOUSLY, EMOTIONALLY invested in my elven characters in a way I don't for any other character, and in any other game. I always choose elf if it's an option. Strangely enough, I'm actually that way, too. In every game EXCEPT Dragon Age. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I didn't like the way they looked and DAO and just decided "nah...". I'm kinda picky with how I like my elves. They need to be Tolkien-esque.

I'm a huge Human/Female/Mage gal and I romanced Cullen in my first game. I absolutely love everything about that romance, however, I feel like I kind of missed out on something epic by not rolling elf and going for Solas my first playthrough. Part of the problem, I think, is that I got spoiled on what his romance was like after I finished my Cullen-mance so I guess I didn't get that whopping surprise and devestation that everyone else got. I've tried rolling an elf and romancing Solas but I just never got into it and quit part-way through. I love Solas and love what they did with his character but I just feel miffed that I'm missing that deep visceral connection that other folks seem to have with him. Maybe I just need to play all the way through to the end but since I know all the spoilers, I feel like I don't know what that will do for me. Meh. Sounds like me! A big hurdle for me is that my Dragon Age Soul is not Dalish. I thought they were okay, but I didn't get what BEING Dalish meant. Just following tradition or was a sense of pride, a love of my people, that guided me when I was younger? Without an elf rooted strongly in what it means to be Dalish for THEM... I can't imagine the Solas romance as being any good at all. You know, that's a really good point. I don't think I've ever really deeply connected with the elves in the DA universe. I've always been, in my DA Soul, a human female mage. All my head cannons revolve around human female mages so that's were I sort of... center myself... when I think and get myself into the universe. I played one elven playthrough in DAO who romanced Zev which was nice, but I played Surana so.... no real connection to anything elvish. That said, I think that's probably the biggest problem with getting into the whole Lavellan/Solas romance. I just never really invested any time into the whole elven culture, background, religion, etc. So the romance seems a bit shallow to me because it lacks a lot of the romantic content that a Cullen romance has. I must be missing all of the subtext.

I'll definitely play ad Sara for my first playthrough, and I'll probably keep the default name, since I like it and I want to hear it in game! I'll try to recreate Alicia Vikander. I think she's a great actress and a natural beauty Wow, she's gorgeous. Good choice!

Can someone explain to my little pea brain what this means? What do they mean by "locked behind points like DAI"? That you won't have to get X amount of "power" to start a new main quest. Ahh! Right, right... I had forgotten about that mechanic. I wonder what they'll do then... just have quest prerequisites?

I'm totally cool with marriage and kids but I'd rather the kids thing happened in the epilogue or in a DLC. I don't want my Ryder pregnant running around in dangerous scenarios. That'd just be awkward and weird. Unless it's an adoption thing which I think would be pretty cool, honestly.

I don't get this whole 'We don't have guns on our vehicles so we avoid looking threatening' argument. By that logic, we wouldn't be carrying an armory on our person when we are on foot. Really any alien we encounter should be different enough that they don't even recognize our weapons as weapons. Plus there is this thing called concealable weapons, just like how the Normandy's main gun retracted into the ship so you didn't know they were even there. Well, the Tempest doesn't have a "main gun" but does that mean it has nothing for protection? Hopefully not. "Anything we can't outrun will have a tough time finding us" so... cloaking tech?

Anyone catch this? "My place is on the bridge. This is where the Pathfinder operates our Nav system synced specifically to them..."... appx. 1:32 in the briefing 3 video.
So, does this mean the Tempest goes nowhere without the Pathfinders?
Remember this guy? We discussed him as a possible antagonist.
Is that Papa-Ryder?

Mass Effect @masseffectAwesome. What did you enjoy about seeing the Tempest and Nomad in detail for the first time? It was alright Is there a reason why Ryder's cabin is so large? I heard you could decorate it and customize it so I'm guessing they made it large enough that you can display your trophies and stuff. Which I'm ALL ABOUT.

The romancable Mass Effect guys , upon meeting them, have all been polite and laid-back so far. I'd like a romance where the male LI and the protagonist start off on the wrong foot. Characters like Jack and Miranda come to mind immediately. Maybe he's skeptical of Ryder getting the Pathfinder position and is critical of her early decisions during the game. This means a lot of heated arguments at the HQ and rather like a Jane Austen novel in space, Ryder is convinced she can't stand him;
however, this tension that builds up between them eventually explodes like a supernova
I wrote fanfiction went into more detail about the idea in the speculation thread . This is exactly what I want. EXACTLY. P&P in space. YASSSS.

I think I'd definitely like some of them to be relate-able to humans but not all of them need to be. I'd love it if there was just one or two races and civilizations that we encounter that is just so bizarre it makes you wonder how they exist as a society.

Hi! New here so I thought I'd list a few random facts to catch up. =) 1. I'm a really good cook but a really terrible baker. Go figure. 2. I experienced tear gas first-hand when I was a kid. 3. I'm obsessed with The OA. Welcome to the freakshow! How did you get exposed to teargas? Sounds painful. (see, tears, as in............ I'm showing myself out.) And excuse my ignorance, but what is The OA? When I was 8, we lived in Panama City and back then in the 80's there were riots all the time in the city against Noriega. One time my family was coming back home to our apartment when we saw that there was a huge riot in the street with people screaming and shouting. We had to walk through the mass of people to get home and right as we got to the lobby, the cops threw tear gas into the crowd. We quickly got to the elevator but not before we were hit with the tear gas that made it's way into the building. To this day, I can still remember the feeling. It's awful. Anyway, we moved back home to the states shortly after that. The OA is a new Netflix show that just came out and it's amazing. At least, I think it's amazing. It's one of those mind-bending shows with tons of hidden clues and people trying to figure out what it's all about. Check out the trailer if you want!

Okay, I understand that line of thinking, even if I still disagree with it. They sacrifice game enjoyment for the sake of realism. Always a balancing act. They just tipped the wrong way IMO. It's a roleplaying game, those NPCs fulfill certain roles. This is no more of a sacrifice than being annoyed at a locked door or a plot twist you prefer to have been otherwise. If you want a character sandbox may I suggest the SIMS... Yeah, I get that. I was pretty bummed when I first heard about it too. It does seem like they won't go back, though. I can just only hope that the romance options they DO offer are enticing enough that I won't worry overmuch about who I can't have. You can of course romance everyone. It will just require playing as both siblings... Yes of course. =)
