Guys, does anyone know if the trial download files will be the same as the main game files? How did it work for other trials? Basically I can't spend too much more bandwidth than the 55GB+ the main game will require...

Holy hell. I caved in and watched the video. The facial animations are so wierd! And the lips in particular, what's with the fish mouths when they speak?!
God this is bad...

There was no attractive women in DA:I. Except maybe Leliana, but she was not romancable.
Pretty much all women in ME:A are a step up from that.

Good, maybe I can optimise the shit out of this so I can get good performance out of my toaster computer. What's your Graphics card and CPU? If you say "Intel Graphics something" then I can already say you're doomed to be unable to play it. It's a Core i5 750, 16 GB RAM and a Radeon 7870 2GB. I know I will be able to play, the question is, at what graphic settings and FPS? :-p I was able to play DA:I on Ultra with 35-45 FPS in outdoor areas, 55-60 FPS indoor or sparse outdoor areas. I play at 1080p. I also had a couple settings lowered, like anisotropic filtering. The requirements on DA:I were much lower than MEA though, that's what scares me. I can only compromise so much on graphic quality... it's time to upgrade, but I want to stretch this PC for as long as I can

Gonna shamelessly piggy-back on this thread since it's kinda related...
Do we have to do anything special to get the MEA trial with Origin Access? I've seen ppl say it shows up as a seperate executable in Origin's My Library, but for me it doesn't. When I go in Origin Access --> Free Trials --> MEA Get it Now, it pulls me to the MEA store page and nothing happens
Ok, I actually fixed my problem while composing this reply. But it seems like it's a bug so here's some info for all the people who will complain on the 16th that they can't play the trial: If you want the "MEA Trial" to show up in your Library, go click the "Get it now" button in the Origin web page, not in the Origin app. That way the trial will show up in your library. I think the bug happens if you already pre-ordered the game.

Isn't FOV a cheat setting that goes against how the devs designed the camera view? :-p I guess it doesn't matter if it's not a multiplayer competitive game...

They're just doing what is easiest... designing a different UI and skill selection system just for the PC doesn't make sense development wise. As for "no DVDs", that's just EA saving money.

It depends, some situations may require it if you want to be successful.
Assuming that this is the same as DA:I, if you want to build "approval" with your squad mates, you gotta pick the right dialog options for the personality of that squad mate and the situation.

I played melee (rogue), and it only got Okay when I learned to play around the various quirks. The worst of them was the god damn camera, that thing was all over the place, especially when locked on enemies. Worst in indoor areas. Then there was that problem where my own melee allies would block my way and it could get hard to navigate the battle to get in weapon range, and then I'd lose my lock. Also, the controller layout... I won't go into that. That was all in "action" mode mind you, I tried "tactical" for a bit, but couldn't see myself playing that way in 2017.

F*** no! I am going to play the 10 hours the MINUTE it is available, and then I am literally snowed under with a massive amount of work for the next 5 days. Basically, A Giant Work Thing is due on the 21st. I hope that 10 hours will hold me over and get me through those miserable work days!! Almost there! I'm in a similar boat... I leave for 7 days on a work trip on the 26th, so that leaves only a few days to play it. And they are work days, so not much time at all... that trip is such bad timing! I have a gaming laptop I could bring, but it's not good enough according to minimum requirements. Gotta be home and play on the desktop >< Oh well, maybe they'll have patched a few bugs by the time I get back.

Not gonna wait, but I can use the 10h strategically so I don't starve.
I can start pre-loading on the 17th according to Origin. 55 GB will take me 2 days (yes my internet sucks), so on Sunday the 19th I will have 10h to play, which is about as much time as I can put in a video game on a single day without overdosing. On Monday the 20th I get back from work pretty late, so I wouldn't play much anyways, even if I could (but maybe I have 1-2 hours left from the sunday). On the 21st is release day so I get access again. It will be just fine.

well, it's done, i pre-ordered. but only the standard edition, none of that "deluxe" where 10$ real money buys you extra tiny gimmicks ( seriously , casual wear and nomad skins ? ). which probably required minimal time from the devs , when a complete DLC will cost me 15$ later on.. wtf. that "deluxe" goes along shitty quality Tshirts with N7 logo at $25. ( i know, i bought one ! ) I get the deluxe for the guns mostly, not the skins. I have fond memories of the N7 guns... like the Valiant sniper and the Eagle. Kinda made all other common guns sub-par though, but they were fun. Hopefully the Pathfinder Elite guns are cool like that!

And pre-order done, deluxe edition for PC. It's the first game I've bought at release price in over 5 years (Steam sales heh), but I feel I'll get my money's worth. Still have my doubts that there will be too many of the bad design that was in DA:I, but I have faith the good will outweight the bad. It's Mass Effect after all...
I also took the opportunity to subscribe to Origin Access. The free trial is nice and all for an easy rebate, but I'll stick to the 1-year subscription after the free trial expires. The Vault is choke full of games I have not played but would like to, and now that they have the $30 a year deal for PC like they have for consoles, the value is ridiculously good.

-"searching" for lootables (I hate the joystick click button on controllers, they're so unatural to use) I take it joining the Glorious PC Master Race isn't an option? I actually play on PC with a controller. I generally like controllers more, except for those joystick clickers.

I'm playing DA:I for the first time right now (almost done), and it scares me shitless. While there is some good stuff in that game, there is such a high number of bad design decisions that I hope just don't make it into ME:A. But I look at ME:A previews and I see similar designs... Here's a short list of bad stuff in DA:I (that I hope don't make it in ME:A): -Inventory interface -Crafting interface -"searching" for lootables (I hate the joystick click button on controllers, they're so unatural to use) -Stoping a few seconds every time I pick up a flower -Too many readables. I don't believe anyone bothers reading anything after 1 hour into that game, it's overwhelming. -Boring party members. Out of 9 party members, I liked Dorian and Bull, and to a lesser extant Cassandra. The rest are either bland or downright annoying. Party members were always interesting in Mass Effect games, so hopefully it will be the case again. I hope that with a smaller cast, each one will be interesting. -Vast empty areas: This one I'm scared will be in ME:A -Hinterlands: Vast and loaded with side quests, to the point of being overwhelming. Quite the opposite of every other hub area in the game. -War table at the far end of a long corridor: What the fuck were they thinking, I go there all the time and it's so far away! -The mini-map that actually doesn't show terrain features. Whhyyyyy -And a metric ton of other small annoyances that any good designer should have spotted and improved before releasing this game...

Well fuck that scanner, this may be a deal breaker. Good thing I have not pre-ordered yet. As far as I can tell, you scan new types of ores, plants, and animals, and it gives you blueprints or something to make new shit. I don't think you're actually gathering resources the way we were in Dragon Age. As far as the actual mining is concerned, we're supposedly going to be setting up mining drones, and settlements. It does seem a liiiiiittle too important to story missions, from this footage, but I wouldn't call it a dealbreaker. Most people who have had time with the game haven't complained about scanning yet, and it seems to work differently from how it did in Inquisition. We'll just have to see how it all plays out. Although I'd advise against pre-ordering anyway. Not really any reason to pledge your money to EA before you even get the game. It's good advice about not pre-ordering, except I actually want the pre-order stuff. I wonder if it will be part of the deluxe edition even after release... then I could wait.

The scanning could be horrible in terms of gameplay... will I have to have the red screen pop-ed up all the time so I don't miss anything? I'm currently playing DA:I and that god damn search button, I'm so sick of clicking the controller stick all the time! I don't want this again.

So, my PC is as follows: CPU: Core i5-750 (First gen core i5. This awesome CPU has been in my PC for 7 years and it still rocks today's games at high settings) RAM: 16GB DDR3 (upgraded 3 years ago, went all in since RAM is so cheap) GPU: Radeon 7870 2GB (upgraded to this 3 years ago, was best bang for buck) Not sure how it will perform, but I'm currently playing DA:I at high settings with quite stable 60 fps at 1080p. If it fails, I'll go shopping for a 970 or something cheap, can't waste too much money upgrading this old beast again

Why do they make 1060s with 3GB VRAM? Also, as a recommended spec it's a bit puzzling; why not a 970/4GB, for instance? (I know about the 3.5GB issue; it's not a big deal; moving on) The 1060 seems to be a little faster than a 970; so is this to say that the game might be a bit heavy on the computation side, but won't eat up too much VRAM due to ... what? shitty textures? Could that 3GB be a typo? Because you don't need more than that if you're gaming at 1080p.... 6GB cards are for 4k

I don't like it, with 4 profiles like that you can have a good skill combo for every situation. You can switch from long range to brutal melee guy to tech master, in the same fight. And you can bet we'll have "optimal" builds online within a few days of release, and pretty much everyone is gonna end up playing similar jack-of-all-trade Ryders.
