everybody goes to Ilos and now the picture becomes clear - all the pieces fall into place and now there is no reason to fret. Yeah except Saren still doesn't know what the conduit is until the last second as vigil doesn't tell him, and yet somehow sovereign and the Geth are all there waiting at the citadel as if they knew what the conduit was. They are not waiting at the Citadel - you actually see them come out of the mass relay

1) noone had an idea what the conduit is in the beginning, not even Saren 2) by the time he finaly knows, he is already "banned" from the Citadel 3) he need to get aboard the Citadel to remove the "master relay prohibitor" (or whatever they call it) so the reapers can return from dark space (havig SOvereign do it was plan Noone is saying it is nobel prize worthy, but it is nothing when compared to the extremely weak plot points in MEA. But the conduit is entirely unnecessary. You can remove the entire conduit plot and have the end sequence play out regardless - there wasn't even any need for saren to investigate the beacons - don't forget there was no way sovereign could have known about the prothean sabotage so why investigate a beacon? Actually doing so made the whole thing fall apart as it ended up making shep get involved. Sovereign tries to signal the Keepers so they can activate the Citadel relay to call his brethren. The Keepers doesn't follow orders - something has changed, Who could be responsible for that change? well only the Protheons really since they were the Only prime mover able to do that, So time to investigate the Protheons and gain some extra help (Saren/Geth). During the investigation, Saren recovers data that mentions the "Conduit" - what is it? some Protheon trap maybe? No way Sovereign is gonna call the rest of the reapers while there might be some sort of trap waiting - everybody goes to Ilos and now the picture becomes clear - all the pieces fall into place and now there is no reason to fret.

ME 1 is a well thought out game unlike the rest of the games in the series.
It's like Highlander 1 compared the rest of the movies in its series.

Also, there many other costs to releasing a game - Like on the consoles Microsoft and Sony takes a substantial cut and Marketing is also a huge expense.
The common saying is that for every 10 million in dev budget you have to sell 1 million copies <- this is just a loose rule of thumb but it usually checks out unless your game is an MMO or something that gets extra payment after launch.
So loosely ME:A would have to sell around 4 million copies in all to break even.

If people stop comparing the characters of 3 games with only Andromeda that would be great. Trilogys characters had shitload of time to develop, for example; I hated Kaidan in ME1 and always saved Ash but later I learnt that Kaidan becomes an awesome bro in ME3 it's like that. If you want to compare, just compare them with ME1 The characters in MEA has more dialogue and more interactions than any of the characters in the old trilogy combined and they still come off as flat, poorly written and mediocre voice acted.

Lesson learned - when a dev team closes its forums before a game launch suspect shenanigans.
Seriously most Indie dev teams have forums (even if it's only on steam).

I think they just looked at the ME 3 Citadel DLC and saw the Love it received for the brain-dead Tumblr fanfic writing and concluded that this kind of writing is the future.

Frostbite engine is used for Battlefield 1 and Star Wars battlefront and while I think these are both shit games I will admit that they both look absolutely beautiful, The problem is definitely not the engine.
As to why MEA is on Frostbite, the answer is simple, Frostbite is an engine wholly owned by EA and EA is committed to putting as many games as possible on their own engine, Which is no problem since it is a fine engine.

If we compare it to ME 1 I find that MEA doesn't come on as well. ME1 managed to establish a Universe, A good number of alien races, your character, An ancient mystery, A handful of companions and tell a compelling storyline. MEA manages to only establish: A few races, Your character, An Ancient Mystery and A handful companions.

I kind of answered that in my edit to that post. I presume you mean this edit? " You know, when you guys post ugly critique like this, it kind of ruins it a little for those of us still playing and enjoying the game. Which brings up a point. Why isn't there a critique/review section for Mass Effect (and for each BioWare game)? That way the people who want to read that kind of thing can, while those that don't can safely ignore it and keep playing the game for the awesome and quirky game it is?" I doubt that people are so emotionally frail that it will ruin their enjoyment of a game knowing that others dislike it, And if it really is the case then they probably shouldn't click on topics with a title such as this.

I agree, The narrative is uninspired and boring and the dialogue reads like a poor Tumblr fanfic with mediocre voice acting on top.
While I think the Mass Effect series decline started with ME 2 this a low on a whole new scale, At least Bioware of old could still write dialogue that wouldn't make me want to rip off my ears.
