I don't get seasick, carsick, or airsick; and perhaps that explains it? Me neither, and I don't understand people who do. I remember one time I went on a trip for a wale-watching tour, the sea was rough and we were out for about 4 hours on a repurposed fishing vessel with 25 tourists on it. After about an hour in most of the people vanished, curious I went looking for them and found them at the rear of the ship, all puking their guts out. Needless to say the remaining 3 hours of the tour were pure hell for them. Maybe I have something in my genes as well, I like traditional sailing boats, the ocean, the smell of it, especially when its rough and cold. I have natural sea-legs, even though my country is landlocked and I'm neither Viking nor Pacific Islander ancestry. Never understood what airsick is, I don't really like traveling by plane since I don't fully trust the technology and the pilots - but sick? Still, I feel bad in the plane mainly because the seats were designed for Hobbits and I'm a somewhat large man, I occupy 1.5 seats, to the dismay of the passenger right next to me.

I mean, it's definitely not if you compare it with how my brother eats tomatoes sometimes.... He eats them as if they were an apple Such a barbarian.......but I do that too!

I am stuck at home without being able to go visit my parents (one of them being terribly sick) because some dad of a kid that goes to school with my niece (she lives with me)got the disease. This sucks. Can't you get your hands on a covid-test, or get tested? Drug stores around here offer free tests, don't you have similar services in your place?

I like carrots. I eat raw peeled carrots every day, usually after weight lifting. This! I love them as well. Peeled and raw. They are far better that way than cooked, imho. And I do eat them after working out as well lmao. Exactly, cooked they are ok but kind of boring, heating them takes away their fresh and intense taste. Many fruits and vegetables taste better when heated, but not carrots. Hah, I didn't think people here would share my fetish. I wonder what other weird shit special interests we have in common.

I don't want to boast but I'm pretty sure I saved someone's life today. I was enjoying the sun outside when I noticed my friend walking right below the edge of the roof which was totally loaded with melting ice. I jumped and told her to stop, she immediately did and right at that moment a suitcase-sized chunk of ice impacted mere centimeters in front of her just barely scraping her jacket. Exactly one step further it would have hit her in the head dead on. What are the odds.

Things are pretty bad here in the US. I haven't read the thread in ages, but I'm sure this has already been discussed. It's dire when 3000+ deaths in a day is a pretty good day. My friend's wife passed today from COVID-19. This is the second close friend we've had die from this virus, and we knew a great many who passed in NYC in the early days. I'm not sure how she got sick; maybe I will learn in time. I'm very high risk due to numerous genetic health problems. My wife and I are extremely careful. It's pretty infuriating to see my neighbors walking about like unmasked assholes. They make no effort to follow even the most basic mitigating practices. Sadly, I live in an area where politics has been tied into this health issue, as well as near a university full of reckless, thoughtless young people. Sigh. I just wanted to vent. I'm sitting in bed in the dark and people with sense are in short supply. It's incredible to me that people still aren't behaving as if this is real and serious. Humans are capable of profound willful ignorance. Sorry to hear your place has its fair share of idiots as well. Around here, strangely, its mainly people in hardware stores that don't give a flying F about wearing a mask or taking any precautions to stop spreading the disease. We have proper laws that mandate wearing masks but there is absolutely nobody around to enforce the laws, so many people just don't care. What's especially infuriating is those idiot conspiracy morons attending to those anti-corona demonstrations, thousands walking in tight formations with no mask screaming at the top of their lungs. As if this would actually help with anything. Today 2 more neighbors died from Covid, an elderly couple. 7 neighbors so far. In any case, stay safe. Wear a proper FFP3 mask if you can get one, don't eat uncooked foods and/or food that isn't wrapped. Wash your hands a dozen times a day. Stay at home. Endure & hold tight till the vaccine arrives. Couple more months and things will get better, due to the warmer weather and the vaccine. And remember, in the past things were FAR worse and we made it.

Today I bought new underwear, 20 shorts! 20 new wonderful roomy fabric homes for my butt and dingdong! What you should tell people then is that your lava powers haven't fully manifested yet. "I'm just too hot to handle!" Guess I need more practice before I can call myself Captain Magma.

Ok:
3 + 3 points: Baldur's Gate I and II + ToB. Because of the trilogies' replay value and its super important place in my life (best childhood memories) it takes the top spot. Also due to its replay value, there is still many variants I have not yet explored. Also the familiarity of that game would probably help me immensely to cope with the alien unfamiliar and isolated place that is Mars.
4 + 4 Points: Metro 2034 and Metro Exodus. 2 emotional rollercoaster games that have it all - shooting, stealth, survival, graphics, action, story, horror, depth, looting, characters, exploration. Definitely ideal to play when things are going extremely slow on Mars and boredom has to be fought. They stimulate many different sections of my brain at the same time.
2 Points. Unreal Tournament 99' (fully modded): another classic, a simple yet very refined multiplayer shooter game, mainly meant for competitive matches among friends. Good for lighthearted fun and can (should) be played among friends competitively. A lot of fun, fast paced action to help unwind and bond with coworkers after a hard day.
2 Points: LEGO Studio. This is an extensive CAD program that allows you to build complex LEGO models. I thinks its a good idea to bring something that allows me to manifest my creativity. Also I love LEGO, good for familiarity. And it would give me something to look forward to returning to earth - when I return I can get all the parts to turn the digital models into physical ones.
1 Point: Tetris. Because TETRIS.
1 Point: Magic The Gathering Forge. This is a small program all about Magic The Gathering trading card game. Since saving space and weight is paramount for missions to Mars I'd better leave my physical card decks behind and use the program to play my decks against AI - or coworkers - if they are nerd enough. (I'd still smuggle my favorite deck to Mars)

Yesterday I had an accident and dropped hot burning plastic onto my finger, it instantly melted my skin off, though it barely hurt. Despite my efforts to keep the hole in my finger clean, using antiseptics, it developed into a pretty nasty infection last night. This sucks, the hole looks like a caldera with lava in it now.

I feel like I have finally entered the S.T.A.L.K.E.R or the Metro universe, I just went shopping groceries and then in the parking lot I realized I was wearing a gas mask, protective googles while a snowstorm was raging. Weird times. I hope there wont be any mutants.

How's this for irony: I live in the country where the BioNTech vaccine was developed (manufactured by Pfizer) and my turn is about December 2021. Unless there are more delays and shortages of course. On the plus side, by the time you're getting vaccinated, at least they'll have a better idea if we (the human collective) will require regular/yearly booster vaccinations to keep things in check. I'm worried that at this slow vaccination rate the virus has enough time (hosts) to mutate to a version that will circumvent the vaccination and start this crap all over again. I read a report about a virologist who said that the vaccine will only work for a relatively short time and that its only a stop-gap solution, the only real way to deal with this virus and its future mutated offspring will be a drug for treating the illness. (Apparently the virus mutates a great deal more than originally anticipated) Problem is, now for a medication that is administered regularly over a long period of time you definitely NEED long term tests and research, and that WILL take years, unlike the vaccines. She hopes that a drug that is already in use which can be slightly modified to get it ready much sooner can be found. I don't remember the name of the expert, but she is working - very successfully- on medications for treating HIV.

You all getting vaccinated makes me both happy and sad. Happy because finally people get immunized against that crappy virus and first steps are being taken to get back to normal. About time. Sad because my country suck ass and I wont get the opportunity to get vaccinated till at least summer, despite our high case numbers. So months and months of more suckage Oh, and we got tons of that el-cheapo vaccine that has only a 60-70% immunization rate, which is planned to get distributed to the younger generations because they are less at risk in case the immunization does not work and they get infected anyway, the old people get the good stuff.

I've been looking for an indoor bicycle for 2 days now, and either they are too expensive (limit is 550 bucks), they are for people under 180cm / 6ft or for bodyweight of max 100kg / 220lbs. This is starting to make me MAD. I found some really good bikes with good stats but apparently they are built for halflings. Why? Why cant manufacturers just design a seat and handlebar with enough adjustment and strength to fit slightly above average size people? This wouldn't raise manufacturing costs by a meaningful amount yet so many more people would buy and use it. I don't get it.

Snow and cold weather are way underrated in my opinion. I'm completely okay if there's four months of snow and -20°C. I detest mild winter weather. So say we all (Finns) Nothing is worse than having to go walk into slush and its raining water/slush around +1 - -1C Nothing? Like....getting stabbed in the balls with a rusty trident would not be worse? Or a maggot infestation in your eyeballs? Or having to walk through the perfume shop in your local mall? Or Sunday afternoon sitcoms?

Normally I would have to eat a traditional mix of central and slightly eastern European mix of foods, but I prefer Mexican and Mediterranean dishes. I like to eat spicy food with low amount of fat, lots of seafood and a big variety of colorful ingredients. I don't like drab food. Yes! I like trying and cooking lots of different food but that's my go to kind of meals as well. I am from a coastal region so, obviously, I just love seafood as well.
And well, I can't stand bland, unseasoned food.
Seasoning is so important, I think I could not survive for long without garlic, parsley, chive, bay leaf, basil and yes, my guilty pleasure, some cheapo cocktail sauces. Heck, now I want to get me a couple more pots of those plants for my kitchen windowsill!

I am not from a Mediterranean country ) Normally I would have to eat a traditional mix of central and slightly eastern European mix of foods, but I prefer Mexican and Mediterranean dishes.
