Dear Ubisoft: You have no idea at the can of worms you just opened for yourself. Spend half your development resources on romance content and people will still rage that there weren't enough X options, or options weren't good-looking enough, or options didn't represent every gender/race/orientation equally, or options were too graphic...or not enough, blah...blah...blah. Best of luck to you. Long time Bioware fan.

Perhaps because there's 8 months to launch and they haven't shared the story/character content yet? That doesn't answer the question.
Maybe you shouldn't if all your looking for is the same-ol' same ol'. I feel pretty good that at worst I'll get a decent story with interesting characters to interact with and fun combat. If you need more than that go ahead and skip it.

I don't see "forcing" being an issue. Choose the Javelin you desire, queue matchmaking (however that is going to work, and whatever that entails). There could also be fallback options, if the class type you chose is taken/reserved/etc. a backup of your choice is chosen (dps, support, healer...) The artificial constraints, that could be an issue and as a person that has experienced queue times of each trinity archetypes in WoW for example, DPS by far has the longest wait time. IF, the matchmaking forces searching to ONLY find the trinity type team setup, then yes, queue times could be inflated. However, if there are switches/options that player has control over that can change search type from trinity to all or whatever. I might have stated in an earlier post that this 'trinity' system should be a loose implementation, meaning a group of all healers, dps, tanks, etc. could still accomplish the objective(s). Obviously, the synergy would be much greater if a 'trinity' team was attempting. That makes no sense to me, if you are making it so loose that any combination can complete the fight regardless if in trinity formation or not why have the trinity design? It seems at that point it just becomes lip service to people online to say they have the trinity design with no real consequence or design around having that implementation. While I hope the differences are not purely cosmetic if you mandate a team comprised of the different units it's going to be problem when matchmaking randoms. If the recent poll on preferred Javelin is at all representative you'll have 70% of the playerbase rockin' Interceptors and Storm units. People will get frustrated or bored if they have to sit and wait in lobbies for any length of time...and the population will rapidly dwindle. Hopefully they'll do a good job beta testing to strike the right balance/compromise.

I and others would like the play the demo showcased at E3, that is a given. Getting hands on will allow those of us that really care ( users on this forum) and would like to leave feedback the opportunity those at E3 have already had. I want this game to be great, and the Destiny killer. You now also have more competition in the form of 'The Division 2'. Well some of us care. At least as many just want to torch anything that isn't DA/ME or "traditional" Bioware games (which apparently means a dozen cuddle options). Demo would be nice but I'd rather be able to beta test to provide more active feedback down the line.

Just asked Mark Darrah on twitter, while you need 4 players for a Stronghold, if a player leaves or a disconnect happens, you are not kicked out of the stronghold. What if all 3 players leave?, is it still playable alone?- if yes then what's the point in making it co-op exclusive? You're really bad and you should exchange it at gamestop? Also...probably no on the soloing.

Coming from someone with little disposable cash to buy every game in existence, watching helps me make an informed decision on purchasing the game in question. My time if finite as is, and I would rather spend my time with a game I know I’ll enjoy. The destination needs to be worth taking the journey to begin with. If the destination is a shitshow, no money given for that game, period. After being burned with ME3, I am very cautious about my purchases. I do not trust gaming media to do their job properly outside of being a marketing mouthpiece for the game in question. I respect that perspective. I hope that by the time launch approaches there is more than enough information to make an informed choice, including some access to the demo to people who have not pre-ordered, even if those who have 'VIP Access' that is gained by pre-ordering get a bit more. But not too much. They pretty much ruined DAI with their carpet bombing approach to marketing...which gave away the big bad, the Flemeth "reveal," most of the companion info. I want to discover this in-game.

Depends how you want to quantify sensible. I think it's a more lucrative approach (potentially) to the recent past...and a more novel one with separating story for the individual experience and the MP aspect for the gameplay. What I sort of doubt is how much synergy can be achieved between those seeking story and those wanting to wreck stuff. Likely the playerbase will end up segregated into those playing for the story content who will end up soloing or pug'ging with other story players; and hardcores who casually play the story and primarily like to go with friends or others who want to dominate the scoreboards. And I don't really see that as much of an issue. For me, it doesn't really matter because I can already tell I'll get my money's worth out of this game. I'll play it for the story initially; then go smash stuff with others. Win-win from where I'm sitting.

Not sure, but a nice 8% Dutch beer should suffice. Looks tasty. Can't read the label to try and find it though. Paulaner Salvator double bock is kind of my go to right now. 7.9% so I guess I'm a bit fluid on my 8% threshold.

Speaking of Star Wars, anyone else getting a HK-47 vibe from some of the Javelin designs? What made HK-47 iconic was its personality and speech idiosyncrasies - the physical design wasn't that unique. For me to get a HK-47 vibe from something the first thing I need is to hear some dialogue. Exactly right, Meatbag.

I’ve never been a big fan of BioWare romances, but they do add flavor and even have story/lore implications. Taking those out, you dilute the game from a BioWare to something more generic.
That being said, the ultra-romance crowd were the cause of the downfall of the old romance forum. One could argue that the Bioware experience has become diluted (and hence more generic) due to the increasing demands of fans to have more and more of that content...much of which is made to placate a smaller segment of the fanbase. The hope for some of us is that those resources are put to good use improving the story and gameplay elements. I also think it's not a bad move to add them later based on what is resonating with the playerbase, rather than trying to predict it in advance. Time will tell whether this strategy will pay off.

My main concern with this game is plain and simple: how long will it last? Bioware has screwed up its track for me with Andromeda. I was hyped up for it, particularly for its Multiplayer content. I convinced 4 friends of mine to buy the game. For a reason no other than hype, I thought Bioware would merge what they had learnt from DAIMP and ME3MP and really deliver something greater. And when it came out I started investing tons of time into it. I sat on the Top 10 PC Leaderboards for quite a while. Most people on the forums were complaining about the game (regarding both its SP and MP content), and whenever I had a chance I would defend the game and Bioware's decisions at the time. I was to a point, well, what one could call a fanboy. In August though, 5 months after the game was out, Bioware officially announced what had already been speculated by some: no more new content, neither for SP nor MP. No Quarian Arc, no Geths nor Volus in MP (some of the most loved races back in ME3MP), nothing else to be added. Game over. I had invested 1,007 hours into Andromeda, and then I simply decided to quit it altogether. Bioware (or EA if you will) didn't show any commitment to support Andromeda when it was clear that the game was not profitable enough. The game simply lasted for as long it was able to make money. It didn't matter the fact that it carried the Mass Effect name with it, or the fact that it was Bioware's most expensive game thus far. Bioware just moved on. Recently I've been playing Destiny 2 (closing 1k hours played) and despite some negativity that the game has received by many players, Bungie and Activision have a 10-year contract to honor and to keep the franchise going. We are in the year 4 of that contract and right now the roadmap ahead of Destiny 2 (which is almost 1 year old) looks more promising than ever, and even more promising than the franchise has ever been at. And that happens simply because the developer is committed to a long term contract. More DLCs, Seasons, Add-ons, New games, whatever. They have to keep the franchise going. And as a hardcore gamer, I like the idea. I want something that I can play long-term. Now we come to Anthem. Bioware has no contract of that sort whatsoever, and they have already made it clear that supporting their game is only good as long as it is profitable. Can hardcore players get in and play Anthem for hundreds of hours knowing that the time they invested in won't be scrapped? Will the game live past 12 months? What about 2 years? Or just 5 months like Andromeda? All legit. And despite my own hype I would echo those concerns. If it tanks the way MEA did will they just drop it and move onto DA(4): The Super Deluxe MMO Experience. I would classify MEA as a game of unrealized potential. I was disappointed by the weak story but more so in EA/Bioware abandoning it. On the flip side of that if I can manage to get 500 hours of enjoyment out of Anthem, it's a win for me.

It was sure as hell better than DAO (debatable on DA2). Dragon fights killed anything that came before. I'm with River82 on this one. Plus I really liked DA:O and DA:2. Played them a handful of times.
Oh, I played the hell out of DAO just not for the combat...that was all about the story and exploring the different origins and choices along the way. Kind of the same for DA2 though I did enjoy the faster, flashier combat. DAI was a bit of mixed bag for me. I thought it had some pretty good class mechanics, but many of the enemy (factions) and the way they engaged wasn't too good. If I'm to be honest about it I much prefer the ME combat system to DA...which is all about stats and builds and there's little player skill to it. I like combat where my skill as a player can allow me to play above my character's level.

I could only get through the game by overleveling myself and just steamrolling through the fights so they'd be over faster. Was that too "toxic"? Those vaunted dragon battles were the worst. While I enjoyed the differentiated designs - those things are gorgeous and each have different ways of hurting you - their guard re-gen made the battles take too damned long. One suggestion I've made before would be to limit guard re-gen, like to quartiles for example. So once the foe has dropped below 75% health, they could only re-gen up to 75% guard, under 50% health and they could re-gen only 50% guard, etc. As implemented, the guard re-gen mechanic just drew the battles out into these mind-numbing slogs. DAO is still my favorite game of all time, but I've lost a lot of interest in that world as a whole. I completed a single playthrough of DAI, and haven't even finished all of its DLC. I guess you didn't role with a Knight-Enchanter in any of your playthroughs. You could easily solo all the dragons at level 20 with decent upgrades to your gear on Nightmare. About 3 hits from spirit blade removed all that guard. I never really timed myself but I'd guess the longest fight was maybe 10 minutes.

Healing is for scrubs. Seriously though I don't see a class specific healer. If there is any type of healing mechanic I would envision it more as a micro-machine restoration pack...or something along those lines. I could see some augments that raise/restore shield strength, but that could be installed into any Javelin.

That sounds good to me. My guess, assuming a reasonable success threshold, we'll see some acknowledged romances...probably more of a tacit thing than full on sexy time.

Yep, hittin' the big 5-O this year and really appreciate the gameplay improvements with each iteration from Bio. Gameplay improvements in Inquisition? Haha, that's a good one, you're one hell of a funny man. The gameplay really isn't Inquisition's strength. It was sure as hell better than DAO (debatable on DA2). Dragon fights killed anything that came before.

Do people want romances? In a Looter-Shooter game? There is something seriously odd here. Though my two cents is that some people who are hyped for Anthem might not be aware of what a Looter-Shooter actually is, which is a game for you to gather some friends and grind for loot together. There aren't even companions. NPCs are for the most part either vendors or quest givers. Solo play if available is a mere compromise. So really, it is extremely unlikely that there will be romance. If there's a random NPC running around Fort Tarsis people take a liking to you can bet the demand for sexy time will come. Though I think it'll be a bit more (or maybe polished better) than the looter-shooter you suggest. But hey if that's what it ends up being I'll go smash stuff with ya. That's fun too.
