I would give MEA an 8.5-8.7 depending on future updates and dlc now that nostalgia and initial excitement has receded. It's a gorgeous, fun, inconsistent experience that takes a fresh approach in many areas while also struggling to meet the caliber of the original game's atmosphere by actually playing it safe with too many mechanics. The ships, worlds, space, armor, fighting, and freedom to explore are at their best (with more well polished mechanics than most open world games or semi-open world games) but the game intermittently fails to hit the right note or beat during important presentations, revelations and conclusions from small irrelevant side quests to the main campaign. It feels like a little more time spent on the polish, the music, the conclusions to story lines, fleshing out the main story, and attention to small mechanics and details would have made the game a polarized masterpiece. I say polarized because some still subjectively hate the lighter tone and new characters which is not a flaw objectively in the game.

I thought the general review consensus was that MEA is mediocre. That's actually not hyperbole at all. A number of disappointed fans call it trash (as they do ME3), and the animations turned into a glorious meme, but overall an uninspired rehash with fun combat is what the majority of the more negative reviews and fan opinions boil down to. Now one might not agree with that but MEA is far from an example of the 0/10 or 10/10 bullshit we do get a lot these days. No review I read did this. Worst number was 6/10. Mediocre, not awful. Sadly for a Mass Effect game, mediocre just does not cut it which is truly sad. I would say that ME2 and ME3 are overrated with MEA being better than both. The issue is more everyone taking reviews as the Gospel or divine scripture. But then again, people do this with everything in life. Propaganda is fickle bitch. |

Complaining about the game is complaining about the game. Bitching, whinging, constructive critique, whatever... it's the opposite of praise or admiration. The same topics have been covered over and over again, and I'm curious as to how long it will last. I've noticed people repeat themselves. Couple examples... I do when... say... lecturing my kid. Youtubers repeat themselves and their points in single videos... most of them could be reduced in length by about a third. It seems to be human nature to just keep hammering a point (or points) home. This "bitching" will continue as long as "asslicking" continues. Everytime anyone says 1+3=5 I will say to that "wrong".  |

Lol. Try harder please. How about just looking at the game and give your verdict instead of cross-examining what others said. Each critic had their own arguments for why they liked or disliked it and many of these so-called "Haters" amongst the critics said good things despite ending with a mediocre score. I dislike how hard even fans and gamers buy into the lame 7-10 review scale. Why can't this be a 5? Why is that such a tragedy? Do you want BioWare to have a pat on the back and keep underdelivering, I mean, be my guest but it's a road to definite failure.
Andromeda is a 5 in my book. If they patched away the worst of glitches and redid more animations like they did in 1.05 maybe I can bump it up to 7 but the rest is held back by design, story and audiovisual qualities. That can't really change because there's too many leaps of logic in the plot, not enough "Mass Effect" feel, archaic BioWare hub and NPC design and only decent combat/encounters and the fetch-side-quests only drag it further down.

OMG, someone that dares to have an original opinion. Lol, a lot of those "hate" reviews posted start with a catchy title about how Andromeda is all wrong, go into a windy rambling about half-comprehensive "something, something" they are not quite getting there, then literally say: "I really had fun playing Andromeda!" then end up with "and that's why Andromeda sucks...."All in the names of making the games better and holding Bio accountable for all those terrible mistakes that lead to making a game that was fun for them to play. Nitpicking and click-baiting at its best, 'cause ripping things apart in the name of The Cause as important as video-gaming is totally rad. Parroting even more so.
Hope more people are like that guy and start with a sincere: "I liked the game" in the title if he actually did.
Kindda curious to see if that provides a better clickbait due to novelty, and everyone jumps at the band-wagon of: "Actually, despite what everyone else said, I, the UNIQUE OPINION person totally loved this or that in Andromeda!" Click-fest starts. Hate messaging in reactions. Fights. The site is happy.

But it's Bioware, and Mass Effect, big shoes to fill, and they failed to. I think most of us see, that if they simply had a better story, and less sitcom writing, it could have been a great game. But when you have Bioware of all developers, failing in story/writing department, it's a huge letdown.

And yet this article's "original" opinion starts with a catchy title about "How the reviewers are all wrong". Just say what you want to about the game instead of trying to tell people their opinions don't matter. It's a Bioware game, that the "best part" is combat. That goes to show you how bad other elements were to people. If it were made by a no-name developer it would have been a decent game. But it's Bioware, and Mass Effect, big shoes to fill, and they failed to. I think most of us see, that if they simply had a better story, and less sitcom writing, it could have been a great game. But when you have Bioware of all developers, failing in story/writing department, it's a huge letdown. And that's why they suck these days. The thing that made Mass Effect special was the dialogue and the interactive cinema element and then the combat and all the rest complimented it, but since ME3 in particular they've banked way too hard on just doing combat, combat, combat all the time like it's just a shooter with RPG-like elements with it. No, I refuse to say ME2 is that game because it at least did feature exploration and optional conversations that changed parts of each mission and fully-fledged crew progression via conversations. Get back to making BioWare games. You know there's something wrong when Witcher 3, a game without "companions" has more of a sense of companionship than this game did and it's all because CDPR knows when NOT to do combat at every turn. You used to be the same BioWare but EA fucked you. |

Everyone that says it's mediocre is just salty. I'm sure there are plenty of garbage 0/10 reviews on metacritic. Most reputable reviewers rate it an average of 6 or 7. I'd say that's mediocre. 6 or 7 is around the middle/median/mediocre. I rate it an 8 myself, which is good, but not great. I like it a lot and hope DLC serves to further enhance the game. |

Just don't take it as a review people pays attention to cuz it only said pretty much "Combat is excellent, and I like it, and its all there is to it" It will be like giantbomb saying only" combat rocks but the rest sucks 2/5" in their review as opposed to www.giantbomb.com/reviews/mass-effect-andromeda-review/1900-762/ and try to explain what did not work for them and what did. |
