I haven't played wither game much. I agree about a few things you mention like bad menu design and holding down the activate key.
I suspect in the long run I'd like andromeda better based on the combat alone.

Here's is some context. I can't play RPGs just solely for graphics and story. It's the main reason I'm having trouble going back to play older BioWare (SWotOR) and Bethesda games (Morrowind & Oblivion). And a main reason I find Fallout 3 more enjoyable then Skyrim because guns more fun then swords. And why the only two modern RPGs I always revisit non-stop and on a regular basis are Mass Effect Trilogy and the Dark/Demon Souls series. KOTOR or SWTOR? SWTOR is pretty much Andromeda with lightsabres instead of omnitools & GCD combat with piano concerto rotations over priority system (and predates W3 by 5 years). The scanner there is actually worse.
EDIT: you'd likely hate Jade Empire as well, and by all that is holy, stay away from Inquisition.

Just another topic about why i hate TW3 on BSN.
TW3 got nothing to do with MEA problems, CDPR didn't make that game. Somehow millions players love TW3, somehow that game got +270 awards. I'm not saying it's perfect, cause it isn't, but for me - personally - beats MAE in everything except combat and graphic. Story, side-quest, world, music, NPC's... nothing i can even compare. But it's me - you don't like ? Fine. You hate it ? Still fine. But don't blame TW3 for MEA problems. Seriously OP, if you want to blame anyone, if you have something interesting to say - write to Mike Gamble, Mac Walters or Ian Frazier - tell the what you think, tell them what you don't like, tell them what you expect. That's it.

I did two playthroughs of TW3 - one prior to the DLC and patches and a second including all DLCs and patches while romancing Triss and Yen respectively; probably about 250 hrs total spread out over 6 months. I really enjoyed my time in CDProjektRed's universe but, after those playthroughs, I never revisited the game again. In the two months since MEA's release, I've spent more hours and had more fun with what BioWare created in ME:A. To each their own... Same! I played TW3 once, and then its DLC's (also once), but with MEA I haven't stopped playing or enjoying it! I haven't seen many who felt like me, so I kept quiet. yeah I keep meaning t odo a proper run of the Witcher games but never seem t ofind the time anywhere to giv thjem a go I do own them I just never seem to be able to set aside the time to give it a go. Yeah I'm tempted to go back to MEA to start my next Sara run although I promised myself a break to run through the DA series again. I'm thinking I might try mix and matching and alternating between the 2 but not sure atm.

Open-world games probably aren't for you. Maybe go back to JRPGs? Something like Persona 5 maybe - but you're in the vast minority as far as TW3 goes. They actually are. I absolutely loved Skyrim and Fallout 3. But The Witcher 3 is not an open world game. Thank god. Can you imagine sailing hundreds of miles in real time to get to Skellige? One problem with "open world" games like Skyrim is that the sense of scale and proportion is utterly nonsensical. Major cities are the size of a village, etc. Though if you go by number of load screens, TW3 is more open world than Skyrim, since you don't have to go through a load every time you want to go into a building.

The one everyone loves is KOTOR2 by Obsidian with Restored Content. The initial one is KOTOR1 by bioWARE, an average game in itself, but their first take on SW and it was great for the time. SWTOR is one and only BioWARE MMO, as in actually a MMO, with pretty much the same structure as Andromeda.

Does it mean they're right just because it's the majority? No, of course not.

With the original ME trilogy and DA games, I did a completionist run last year and did complete everything! I attempted the same with Oblivion and Skyrim, but I think I almost fried my brain since there's too much to do! MEA is constantly surprising me with new stuff I never noticed before, so I keep playing and trying new things! Habitat 7 has so much different dialogue if you choose different scouting paths too, so it's fun to go back and try something new. There's a lot of dialogue in this game! A lot!

Aside from being ridiculously ugly to look at, it just wasn't doing it for me at all. I didn't really care much for any of the characters and I especially did not like the gameplay. Alternately, I actually played FO4 for hours on end for a while. There are definitely a lot of weak points, but there's some bits that I loved the heck out of.

I was just wondering if you actually saw SWTOR to see where all the elements you did not like actually originate from. My hypothesis is that W3 and Andromeda are the games that are trying to capture the players that MMO are bleeding because of just how unpleasant and dependent on others the MMO are. Again, have not seen W3, but Andromeda is extremely close to SWTOR in everything but sharing the world.
Anyways, as I said, take care, and enjoy Skyrm

I've only done 2 playthroughs so far 1 each of Scott and Sara. Was planning t og ostraight from Scott's into my second Sara run but because I was still suffereing a little from crashes I decided to delay. Having said that I just read on the twitter thread the next patch is coming tomorrow so maybe I'll give it a look once it releases I'm hoping it'll make for a nice birthday present and the game will start working like clockwork. Doubt it but one can dream.

As for Skyrim, even though I owned the original Skyrim and enjoyed it, I found Skyrim SE way more worth it when I got the free download! A game with that kind of music needs to have graphics that can bring out its true beauty.
