Gameinformer's spread on Andromeda said that Andromeda, Ryder, wasn't guaranteed to be the new Shepard in a new trilogy. Andromeda is its own contained story. Sequels were possible, more ME overall likely, but Andromeda could turn out to be more like the DA franchise. Where he/she is mentioned and referenced while a new character takes the spotlight. More than likely the loose ends will be tied up via DLC.

I'm okay with that, but in case not, I hope it's a different, more mature Ryder this time around. Not so much mature, just polished. For crying out loud, the writing needed some serious polishing and love. Instead we got a lot of hubris. I think that lesson has been learned, but you know me... I'm here to remind Bioware that they're not perfect. They're only human after all... and so am I...

I am pretty sure he will be back. Just because they are not working on it now doesn't mean they won't continue it. For all we know, Dylan may need all the help it can get which is why they are sending people there. Once it is finished, they could come back and continue with MEA2 with Ryder. I am not worried about it.

Conflicted. I don't like Rider - at all. But I do like Vetra and Drak and no rider probably means no Vetra or Drak. My dislike of Rider probably comes from the fact that I'm an old man and Rider is such a punk kid he grates on my nerves. Probably think he was cool if I was 40 years younger, though.

I didn't like this game the first time. It's a game you must learn how to love. Hmm, I'm not sure if I'm interested in any such game as that... lol

i hope we get a sequel with Ryder, he/she will be more expeienced and hardened in battle against the kett, so i'd like a sequel
but less open world exploration and less boring fetch quests and more story, lik in the trilogy
it's soon to tell if they will make another me gae or when, they are working on a star wars game, and maybe anew dragon age, and then maybe me, this game was a disappointing in many ways but i still want another me game,

Yeah I'd prefer to see Ryder again too but if they don't then the DLC's wil need to wrap Ryder's story up much like they pretty much used Trespasser to wrap up the Inquisitor's story in DAI. WHAT? The Inquisitor will make a come back. She has the very talented Dagna. With her skills, she will craft a mechanical arm for the Inquisitor. The Inquisitor will have a new skill tree with new powers related to his/her arm. The arm will be the key in defeating the elf calling himself Solas.

The recent developments that suggest ME is to be put on hold are yet more proof of a developer and publisher in chaos, who dearly need to get their act together. This was entirely the wrong decision to make, but making awful decisions that are against their interests seem to be how they roll nowadays... Just as with severing their link to their fans by shutting down BSN, to keeping on Mac Walters in a senior role despite his damaged goods status and unrepentant arrogance (the real problem), this move is the exact opposite of what was needed.
The game isn't perfect, mistakes were made but its a far better game than the hate bandwagon was leading people to believe. The correct response would be to show some backbone and defend the good portions of the game, whilst showing humility and outlining clearly how they would fix what issues could reasonably be fixed. Its a symptom of modern times that many games release in an unacceptable state, but win back their fans by consistent updates and improvements over the year.
But pulling up the drawbridge like this sends all the wrong signals. It implicitly suggests they don't want to put such effort in, and are in damage control mode. That they are willing to let all the good work the game does display and let it be regarded as an awful failure with no redeeming points. It insults their own staff and cuts adrift those fans who have been pointing out that whilst no classic, its still a decent game. Perhaps worst of all, it makes everyone involved look like fools and that they and us have been wasting our time.
To Bioware and EA I therefore say Sort yourselves out for god's sake. As the OP says, there are plenty of us who want positive news on this. So quit being so unprofessional, giving up at the first sign of difficulty. The fans will back you if you show us that you're trying. Your staff will want to do a better job if you encourage them, instead of firing them!

Because I think we as fans and the original source material deserve better. They can do much better than this. The current material with the Jaardan, Scourage, biogenetic engineering and possible civil war all happening right before we arrive to Andromeda with the Jaardan ceasing to exist and the origins of the a much larger Kett threat.....is just as intriguing if not more than reaper cuddledish harvesting the galaxy. They can easily make the second game incredible if done right. They showed that with Meridian, the vaults, the actual planet exploration and the combat. They just need to perfect the use of the frostbite engine, tweak the character writing and presentation, and add my diverse gameplay to the open world. And open world isn't the issue. Go back and watch the previews for Assassins Creed black flag. That game was incredible because the devs made sure that there was always something new and interesting to do our discover when getting from point A to B. And they did it with Dover gameplay so it didn't get stale. Adding good vehicle combat, rescue missions, larger battles in the distance that can engage in, ability to steal other vehicles and mechs, legendary rewards like unique armor, weapons and tools for doing side quests, etc would all help perfect the formula. Couple that with a great campaign and story focuses optional missions all being linear and it's a solid game again I think the problems with ME:A go way beyond poor storytelling and lack of polish, general stagnation. It's leadership. The BioWare formula needs a radical re-invention. They are so wide of the mark in so many areas it's time to go back to the drawing board with all of their gameplay systems from the dialogue system, crafting, interface design etc. They need to catch up to the competition and fast and re-define their role in the industry and their own interpretation of the very concept of the modern action RPG in 2017 and the role of the player. The story just doesn't work on a fundamental level for many reasons. The game is devoid of memorable moments, dialogue and choices. The story beats are basically the same with a generic reaper stand in villain of the week but the execution is woefully inadequate and the tone is all wrong. The writing is vacuous and devoid of theme and personality: the story doesn't convey any kind of greater meaning. There's no sense of stakes or interpersonal character drama/conflict. The protagonist is unlikeable, un-relatable, has no arch and their motivations are ill-defined. The writing is not just below BioWare standard. It's below industry standard as is much of the rest of the game. I could go on but i'm boring myself. Could the Ryder/Kett/MEA setting be salvaged? Yes but it's going to be bloody hard work given what they are inheriting it would require a whole lot of involvement from Edmonton who's neglect has partially contributed to this situation while they focus their efforts on their new baby.

What really frustrates me is that ME is the right franchise, Not since Star Control 2, the Suikoden series or Final Fantasy(RIP all of these) has it been like this for me. It has everything that interests me to a game. Its just in the grasp of a wrong studio or devs, and that just drives me nuts.
Imagine the potential, if it could be taken away from stooges like Mac Walters and EA.

Good to hear. They really need to rethink this series, if after 5 years, Andromeda was the best they could give us. I love Mass Effect, but Bioware are scrubs now, and if the franchise is ever revived, hopefully it'll be by a developer that's actually talented, and has a passion for game development. On a side note, if Bioware's new IP isn't a hit, the company is probably fucked. Agreed Andromeda was such a lackluster title that this is probably for the best. They pushed out a game that was clearly not finished and had some of the worst animations ever. I'd rather see the series die then watch Bioware and EA destroy what was once a great franchise.

And sadly if it is a hit that will be the end of RPG's from Bioware as they will go full action shooter with the new IP. Oh well, we all knew this was coming eventually once EA bought BW. Actually took a lot longer than I expected it to. Holy fuck, you guys literally aren't satisfied with anything. Christ. If BW stops making RPGs and goes full shooter action games, yeah I would find that disappointing. What is so shocking about that? :heh: Yeah we are complaining about the game but at least we aren't complaining about complainers. Seriously dude get off that horse, if people expressing their opinions is that upsetting to you the internet really isn't a place you should be frequenting.

I've dumped an incredible amount of time in Far Cry, Crysis and Fallout. Bioware will pwn these guys. Pwn. Own. Make them their bi***es. Let them do this while they whip Frostbite into a true RPG engine. So, yeah... I'm looking forward to it.
