I dunno that I fear it. Despite whatever news may be floating around I don't know that it is the death knell of the series. MEA still made EA lots of money, EA is greedy as hell and ME is still a major video game title, they aren't going walk away and just leave money on the table waiting to be milked.
I frankly would be shocked if we don't see Ryder again, sooner rather than later. The question is what lessons did BW learn from MEA and can they get the ship pointed in the right direction to turn a mediocre opening into a great sequel?

I don't even think it was bioware a intention to even reuse Ryder. Andromeda itself wasn't really even supposed to have direct sequels off itself, maybe bioware planned future games after andromeda in the same timeline, but they hinted various times on choices not carrying over and such and I'd imagine the same for the protagonist. Dream is for Ryder to make contact with the MWG. They send a Spectre through who you play as to go invade the Kett. It's time to spice things up by making us the big bad invaders for once. When will we get to be the Reaps and wipe out an entire alien race |

And sadly if it is a hit that will be the end of RPG's from Bioware as they will go full action shooter with the new IP. Oh well, we all knew this was coming eventually once EA bought BW. As expected. Montreal studio was the first in line if EA wanted to do something about Andromeda. also a Hiatus for the IP is better than making a mobile game for it. they may do it after their hiatus though lol. if EA was active heavily in Japan i guess Pachinko machines were also an option lol.

Gamers these days are jaded. Hate threads in abundance. Its a decent game with solid gameplay, and definitely isn't a failure. I fell in love with ME back with the box set, eagerly awaited this game, and my chief complaint is that there isn't more of it. I've played some seriously shit titles and this isn't one of them.

I said I was worried when they didn't even mention ME:A on the earnings call, even though it was the only major release last quarter. But they have no one to blame but themselves for releasing an unfinished product. I haven't played a game this buggy since Arkham City on PC.

Care to list or explain these retcons, plot holes, and failures? I'm curious now. The only failures that exist from my view is pushing the game out to capture the sales before the end of the fiscal year, the lack of polish and inconsistent animations due to rejecting the delay, and teasing too many unfinished story lines to gimmickly hook people into more content.
Everything else in MEA when looking at as a stand alone game (not MEA vs the trilogy) was better than any of the other games.

At this point nothing is guaranteed, they'll do their post-mortem on ME:A, and if they determine that Ryder wasn't an engaging character for players then Ryder won't be back.
They may decide to jump into the future where the Initiative is more established and you have cities and not colonies. They could do anything at this point after they figure out what worked and didn't work.
They could scrap the semi open world, anything is on the table I think.

What's troubled me with ME:A's release has been the awful lack of communication from the developer to the fans.
In ME2 and ME3 they literally embedded a newsfeed into the game itself, so there was always an easy means of getting out the word on upcoming events.
Now they rely on the Origin interface to do the same - and it blows. In the absence of any regular communication, the article from Kotaku gains credibility, simply because there is nothing coming from EA to the fans who bought the game.
So many open threads from the story. Will we ever find out about the quarian ark, who killed Garson, who the benefactor is...craaaaap.
