Well aren't you chipper. You just assume they wouldn't learn anything from ME:A and make a better game with its sequel?
Of course, that's the safe assumption.
I mean, they said they learned things from DAI, stuff like repetitive quests and boring open world. And we got something worse. I would believe they could improve the game if they hire new people and let go old ones, especially the leadership.
The team that made ME2 is long gone.
Long gone and working for the competition. They're highly motivated to take down Bioware. I know... I heard some serious (pretty vile) sh** talking at PAX South. I'd say Bioware to Paul and someone would chime in, "... sucks." They practically c** on themselves talking about other RPGs that are filled with ex-Bioware greats from the past. That's never a good thing. Years ago, there was solid admiration and jealousy. Now, it's venomous and only Bioware and EA have to blame themselves for that. It also amazed me, because I was looking for Bioware Austin and all I got was some SJW talking about inclusion who has no programming experience. I hope she's gone, too. Waste of payroll.

How in the world was Mac Walters promoted after the Mass Effect 3 ending? He is one of two people that made the Milky Way Galaxy off limits because of artistic integrity. Not to mention , afraid of making one ending canon, which they should (destroy). If anything , he should gone back to just being a character writer. Seriously , what writer wreaks a universe to the point you make it difficult to return?
Mass Effect Andromeda 2 on PS5 and Xbox One 2, lets hope not.

hah. The author changed the title from "Downsized" to "Scaled Down", to indicate no jobs were lost, just moved around. None of which is surprising considering the game is released.
Whether the IP is on ice based on that seems a rather weak assumption. If it were on hiatus I would expect EA to decrease head count as a cost cutting measure to support what little revenue a failed launch would bring in. I'm not seeing anything here to support that. Just a reallocation of the work force to support other games in development.
If a remaster happens it will be in Frostbite engine probably. The point of remasters is to gain money (unless the game is very outdated) not add to the exprience sadly, and a MET trilogy remake would bring back many fans with or without significant upgrades
Would they have to rebuild everything from scratch and then deal with all the fans complaining about how it looks like MEA?
Well I'm no game developer but they already have models for environments from MEA and many of them can be put in a MET remaster. I haven't heard many complains about the graphics of MEA (not animations) so it shouldn't be a problem. Facial animations on the other hand is another matter. Maybe they can use the presets from DAI. But again I don't have much clue on how this actually works

Yes and no. They can import images and static parts, but there is a lot of programming involved that is way, way above my level of understanding. Either way, they need to program into Frostbite certain features that aren't in the last two releases. Without them, there is no remastering. It would be a disservice to the fans and the trilogy and all the more reason to hate Bioware all over again.
Maybe it's for the better. Honestly, looking back at MEA I can't help but think it was made by a team that just wasn't up to the task, not in the slightest. The level of writing talent and creative vision was significantly below what people expect from this IP.
It could have been worse.
It could have been so very much worse
"That's the thing about secrets; we all know stuff about each other, we just don't know the same stuff."
But as one who has played the hell out of the trilogy and have all of its DLC's, would I really have incentive to pay for the entire trilogy and add-on story content?
I would have the incentive. See how well it looks on the ps4. Playing the trilogy again. Getting all the trophies again to add to my platinum total
Man, I played ME3 a billion times.
Wow. That's devotion. And I thought I played ME3 a lot
I can't pay for that again.
I can. If they include all dlc for a reasonable price, it would be worth it. I'm sure a lot of people, who may not have played the trilogy, would purchase it.
Well, I actually still own my PS3 so I can continue to go back and play the old Dragon Age games as well, so I really have no incentive to buy it again.
Hah. If that had been MEA the franchise would certainly be completely and utterly dead. As it stands with everything else about the game in the news and whatnot...it might as well be already.
I don't think so. The problem a lot of people had with ME3 is that it made them angry. The problem a lot of people have with Andromeda is that it's too much of one big "meh" for them. ME3 was not liking what it was. Andromeda was hoping it would be much more than it was. The latter should be easier to recover from, one excellent DLC could probably do it. The real danger is an EA who'll drop anything that requires putting in much effort when they can spend less money by churning out easy stuff.
This could probably mean a couple of patches and no DLCs at all. Well I hope people are now happy. Thinking that bitching is going to give you a better product...flash news...It won't. After Deus Ex this is the second franchise I love that is put on halt...while crap like Battlefield, Battlefront and CoD are released every freaking year....damn if it goes like this I won't have anything to play with.
I suppose sucking up and letting companies get away with buggy games is the better way to go.
Not at all. Constructive criticism is good; but when it goes from constructive criticism to non-stop bitching, nagging, and whining about every little detail...bad things are bound to happen. Now, the ONE decent sci-fi themed rpg may be no more. All we're left with is the same old cookie cutter medieval elf and dwarf rpg's we've had for decades.
ME:A is far from a bad game, but you couldn't tell that by reading reviews. Everyone jumped on the ME:A hate bandwagon and EA/Bioware had to do what made sense from a business standpoint.
Hopefully CDProjektRed does a good job with their Cyberpunk 2077 game. If not, it looks like we might be stuck with the same boring elves, dwarves, and witches for a long time...

I'm betting on Dragon Age Battlefront and Mass Effect Battlefield. I hope Bioware resists, but this is what EA wants. A yearly product that will bring in constant revenue that appeals to the filthy casuals and the hardcore players. They're not including the RPG nerds, like me. They give a rip.

I'm sure he got feedback...
I'm sure he did, but having to change the title to an article that was published makes me question his sources.

Wilson also put a great deal of emphasis on “live service” games, of which BioWare’s new IP is one. That’s the studio’s main focus for the time being.
My impression, as it's been for a while now, is that they (EA and the industry in general) are really pushing to shift to the "games as a service" business model. Despite some success Sony and others have had with recent single player titles like Horizon Zero Dawn, these types of games are considered risky, and this a pattern I'm seeing stated over and over again in articles.
Software as a service. Games as a service. It's the consumer trend. I'm worried for the future of RPG and single player games in general. I guess there are always indie developers.
Yes, i tried to tell you this earlier today. The core of the Dragon Age team are not working on the new IP, they are working on another game. Their tweets strongly suggest its Dragon Age. What else could it be? Dragon Age Inquisition despite some fan backlash was highly successful, and its DLC sold well on top of that. It would be stupid for EA to ignore it. They want money, Dragon Age would get them money.
I hope you are right but I am at a loss on what kind of Dragon Age game they would make to get me excited again.

Who are still using canvases (engines) that do nothing to challenge to Frostbite's visuals. Yeah, I like a good read and own Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2, Divinity and a whole lot more titles that I basically said, "Baldur's Gate clone. Icewind Dale clone. Planescape clone. Fallout 1 clone. Fallout: Tactics clone." Indie developers need to challenge graphic cards like Bioware always kept (and keeps) doing. Andromeda and Inquisition are beautiful and sorry, my tastebuds demand more of this or better. I hate going backwards in time.
Weird, an article based directly on the Kotaku report that, obviously, missed the target on it's original report to the point that the title was changed.
Forgive me if I'm not impressed.

NOooOooOooo...well, I could live with it if it was all bad. But ME:A still had some traces of the good old times. Hope they get their shit together in a "the good ones go into the pot, the bad ones go into your crop" kinda way. I mean, I do love Mass Effect.
I will always believe in you Bioware! *silently backing all obsidian games i can find* *cough*

Dragon Age 4 is not coming, Laidlaw tweeted so a month ago.

I agree, and that's just the thing, I will miss the kind of cinematic experience offered by developers like Bioware, if they stop making RPG titles.

I noticed that as well, after reading that I had another idea about what is going on in Montreal and it isn't because of Andromeda as well. During the Investment Call yesterday it was announced that the "New IP" (I think Dylon is its codename) is being pushed to 2019 and since we haven't heard anything about the Dragon Age team being fired into low Earth orbit they are working on something as well which could have a similar release date as well in 2018/2019 (if they have a three year development cycle). They might be looking to hedge bets and delay starting a new Mass Effect game just to put a little space between those titles and not have a new Mass Effect game on top of those two in 2020 (if they go back to a three year development schedule).
