Here's a good video to explain why game devs might go silent:

There's nothing wrong aside from the usual low stonks and ongoing investor lawsuits, otherwise Jason Schrier would be all over it, August is summer vacation in Europe, the patch will probably release before the H1 earnings call on 26 August or by the end of August.

www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2021/08/11/cdprs-cyberpunk-2077-eternal-silence-is-just-bizarre-at-this-point/Something is seriously wrong at the studio. They usually release fixes and updates pretty quick, and this game has only received a few patches that have fixed some stuff. No DLC and no real gameplay improvements. After 8 months. They have around 1000 devs now, and no company can afford to have that many people just muddling around with patches for this long. They've either moved them to another project or they're overhauling the game - but zero communication doesn't inspire confidence. No other dev I know has been silent this long after a botched release. They also claimed the first major DLC is coming this year...Ha. I seriously doubt that. Considering what the community's like, being communicative at this point doesn't seem like a good idea anyway. If they're fixing to do something, it's best to just do it, and not give ammunition to people who are ready to just throw it back at them no matter what they say. If it had just been a few months, I'd agree. But 8 months, no word and no major updates? They pushed out two expansions in a little over a year for TW3, alongside all the patches and DLC.

Ooo! 3rd one is nice! I've seen Tabula eRasa only once at the beginning of the game. No need to run around the city in search of it.

Being the biggest patch yet means nothing if it's just minor fixes that barely matter. Oh, the NPCs will honk after they hit V. Gamechanger. Oh, a perk is fixed. Out of the about 20 broken ones. This is all stuff that should have been fixed no more than a month after the game launched.
When we are at eight months after launch, such patches are laughable, especially considering the delay between them. And make no mistake, they only released it because they have an investor report next week where they need to say something positive about the game status.
It's obvious at this point they have a skeleton crew working on the game with the main goal of fixing the issues on the previous console generation. Anything else is secondary and made just to make the investor calls look better. So any work on the dumb AI, perks, expansions and bugs should be expected to start only after the game is announced to be ready for the PS4. Which is probably happening sometime next year. But CDPR probably considers CP2077 as almost done at this point and is more focused on the Witcher 4, which no doubt will bring a lot more money than any fixes for CP2077 will.

Apparently telling people that a patch is coming is hype now.🙄 I guess will just have to agree to disagree on the state of the game. I mean, if you go to their website on job openings, they have a lot of interesting ones available. I don't think they'll abandon it. Hell, the stream said they are still working on the expansions.

I am surprised there hasn't been the YouTube clickbait factory around how many times Cyberpunk has gone on sale like they has been with BioWare games. I remember the discourse around Andromeda with it going on sale showing that no matter what it did with sales EA didn't like how the game did and comparing that to The Witcher 3 which almost never goes on sale at that time. Meanwhile with Cyberpunk I have gotten numerous emails from GoG over the last six months with the game going on sale at least four times for 33% off. I will admit I am waiting for the game to reach a price that I think is fair for the amount of time I am going to play the game for its still not worth the asking price for me.
I want to be clear to me it doesn't mean much aside from they want to sell more copies, but why "the internet is saying" arguement means very little to me when they are selective on what to get outraged about.

I mean, if you go to their website on job openings, they have a lot of interesting ones available. I don't think they'll abandon it. Hell, the stream said they are still working on the expansions. Never said they will abandon the game, although that's not as far fetched as you might think. All I am saying is - don't expect content soon, don't expect it to be substantial. And certainly don't expect it to be anywhere near to even half of what Witcher 3 had. Of course CDPR has job openings, they need people to work on the next Witcher.
The CP2077 code is a nightmare spaghetti. Anyone that looked at the leaked source code confirms it. Add to that all the developers that made CP2077 and left the company right after and you can guess there are currently mostly newly hired people that can't make heads or tails from the code. Not to mention that any change made to the game should also be developed to work on the old consoles. Which is a nightmare in itself that significantly limits any meaningful improvements to the existing game systems. In essence - don't expect improvements to the AI or the overhaul of the current mechanics. And certainly don't expect any new features, enemies, systems, etc. The expansions, if any, are going to be bare bones and most likely just a rehash of what we currently have in the game. What we can expect is the simplification and downgrade of the game - as we saw when they decreased the viewing distance in order to claim they made "performance improvements".

Realistically there is zero chance they can even start coding anything expansion related before they fix the game for the old consoles. The most they can do is write ideas on the drawing board, but even that may be too much as they can't be 100% sure what they can add to the game due to unfixed console limitations. If any expansion is released, I am not expecting in at least a year from now. Anything sooner and I will bet it will be a poor and small rush job.

I am expecting the expansions to be outside of the main game itself, so it would be talk to a NPC and you are taken somewhere that is independent code wise of Night City sort of the approach taken with Omega in Mass Effect 3. Otherwise I am not sure if the consoles could run any DLC or expansion content. Especially with some of the videos of what they have been stripping out to try and get a stable framerate.

I dunno, especially considering V is dying, why would the player care?

Another approach if that is a concern is to have them completely independent of the game and just as an option on the main menu like how Mankind Divided did it. They took place turning the timeframe of the game, but your character is independent of it. I personally find that approach I care even less for it has nothing to do with my character.

Giant patch of nothingburger.
World is still lifeles for now. Back on the shelf until 2022 at least, and definitely time to uninstall.
It has been real, and at times fun, but it was never real fun. What a gigantic epic failure this game is, regardless of how much you may or may not like it just look at the destruction it has wrought. Makes the Andromeda debacle seem quite tame really.

I'm pretty confident in saying it's a disaster.
I'd rather it come out finished or not at all.
CDProjekt Red destroyed their reputation for absolutely nothing.

I would say it is an epic failure, considering the halving of CDPR's paper value in days. I am glad you had fun with it. I gave it an honest chance, and it is uninstalled for now.

Do you know any urban world that isn't lifeless? The crowd does an OK job, imo. And it just has the same issues like Mafia 1 and the like: Only a fraction of the houses are actually accessible. Most of the world is just backdrop. But it's pretty good on the street and around the centre.
I don't play Asscreed or GTA insertnumber - last urban world I played in was this film noir detective story guy, I think. FO4 isn't really "urban", though they did a good job with the city.
