The problem is always that open world is not used in a right way, at least in BioWare games: there are two ways in making open world (in my opinion): one is the Bethesda way, where the world is made to be alive and interesting enought to be more important than the story itself (I still haven't finished the main story in any Bethesda game, even if I've played a lot both the Fallout and Skyrim/Oblivion) or the Horizon/Nier:Automata way: a world that let the player have a completely fluid experience with no loading screen, where the travel is a good part of the fun. For me combining Bioware's strengths with Bethesdas would make for a near perfect game. An open world that comes alive and a real story. Most of all interesting companions. One, the open world part, is Bethesdas, and the other one is Bioware. The concepts coming together, while leaving out the weaknesses, is what I'm looking for. Play Witcher 3, if you haven't done so. Closest thing to a perfect marriage of engaging storytelling and an open world that feels alive I've played so far. Best streamlined open world that enhances the narrative is Horizon Zero Dawn. The more I play MEA the more frustrated I become with the annoying quest design and cumbersome interface. Or the downright infuriating time sink that is going to the tempest and pretty much everywhere else. It stresses me out. Horizon showed me once again how having a single big map with no loading screens is the way to go. MEA improved the open world over DAI. More settlements. The outposts actually look big enough to have maybe 50 people living there. There is just more on the map to see in terms of buildings and other objects. But on the other hand the planets look the same no matter where you are on it. Like in No Man's Sky. I actually enjoyed exploring the maps in DAI even when there was literally nothing to do. In MEA I'm bored after 30min. The initial landing is cool. But then it drags and I start hating myself for wasting my time with quests that send me all over the map and are not very interesting.

I would never want bioware to go back to the close world, claustrophobic tone of ME 2, I hated that especially on tuchanka where the only thing I could visit was an underround base and I am glad MEA and DAI made open world. The open world itself is not perfect in any of those game, but its already better in MEA, and I think it should be improve instead of being thrown out of the window. PLanetary exploration is already more interesting in this game contrarly to the one in ME 1 or ME 2. Yes. Most of the sidequests made more sense while being a pathfinder, better than almost all the sidequest from DAI which had the Inquisitor collecting random itens all over the map. They need to improve on it, not going back to the "corridor exploration". 1000% agreed. While I loved ME2 at the time, he'll I still do, do not go back to that formula. Improve on this one.

I am on my 2nd full playthru and I thought I'd be too bored but actually it is more fun because I can take my time.
It's weird but I'm the type of player that actually likes to know some of what will happen next.
When I get to the point where I know everything though then it is boring.
Now going through a second time I can appreciate some of the nuances and dialogue where I was impatient the first time and did not savor it.

I really don't want to go back to corridor shooting, please leave that nostalgia back in the OT.
