Things I've learned about the CC update
Brow Shape is tied to your complexion now.
You still have no control over nose, eye, or mouth shape and size.
The Scars still look like 3 levels of dog poop
The Tattoos still suck
Male hair looks fabulous on Sis!Ryder
Female Hair doesnt look so great on Bro!Ryder

This made me chuckle. "Male power fantasy"... Sorry, but I have no fantasies of being judged, hated, spit on and being a freak of nature. Geralt gets shit on by people in that game left and right regardless of what he does. This just goes to show you people can't get past Geralts scruffy good looks and understand he's probably one of the most miserable and down to earth protagonists in gaming. But because he gets to sleep with a few hot(subjectively) girls, he's a "male power fantasy", because that's all men care about right? Because that makes up for all the rest of the shit he goes through? Ugh... I'd argue Scott Ryder/Shepard are far bigger male power fantasies. Especially Scott Ryder who becomes a big baller shot caller 10 minutes into the game even though in reality he's one glorified boy scout who's only dialogue options in the game are varying degrees of niceness. hes like those emo mary sues that get hated by everyone but are still the most coolest deepest and capable charas.. "fu teh hatorz" and shit like if he'd look like a mutant? but he doenst, he looks gruff and muscular and powerful and as cat eyes-shit a lot of people really like. people hate him because that makes him even cooler, prevailing against the stupidity of the common folk.. don't tell me you never thought everyone else is an idiot, come on, everyone was a teeager once. -intense flashbacks to reading old Silver Surfer comics in high school- -internal screaming- Ahem. Anyway, I'm glad this is a beefy patch with several things I wanted (STILL SUPER JAZZED ABOUT SPACE BLACK EMPORIUM SERIOUSLY THAT SHOULD BE IN EVERY GAME WITH PASSAGE OF TIME AND A CHARACTER CREATOR). ...But it won't be done downloading until tomorrow because my internet is literally* butts. The new female preset is sooo nice. I love that they added freckles and a pale skin tone. Something I've been requesting since day one. Best part about the new presets is that you don't have to share those faces with NPC's unlike all the other presets.
I'm happy with this update. Still hope that one day we can modify the defaults as well. At least simple things like eyecolour, hairstyle, makeup options, etc.

Very underwhelmed by the new CC options. The new head is OK, but eyebrow colour tied to complexion? Tried importing my Ryder as well and tried all the complexion choices. All looked horrible. Its not like in DAI where you could go for several different complexions for any PC. Looks like they've just made all complexions usable by all presets. At least I could see some of the male hairstyles be usable by Sara. Was hoping for more. Oh well, I guess my old Sara is here to stay.

The new preset is nice enough but they tied the Caucasian skin to a ginger complexion. If you don't mind the freckles you'll be fine, otherwise you are shit out of luck. Aside from that they didn't really add anything mod'ers haven't already. The CC is still really bad, just slightly not as bad as at release. |

I think the changes to the CC had a huge effect. Its still not the most flexible, but just being able to switch complexions gives you a lot more freedom and a lot less need to fight the game to get what you want.
Though the lack of ability to pick your father is if anything more of a problem, since if you want to use a particular preset to get a particular set of eyes/nose/mouth then you can end up with a father who is very blatantly not related. If you're making a white Ryder then you can solve this by using default Alec, but a black Ryder made with a white preset has no good options available. And now you can make a really great looking black Ryder with a white preset.
edit: Wait, maybe I'm talking rubbish. Seems like they're not basing Alec's appearance on preset any more! Maybe complexion, which makes more sense though is still inferior to being able to choose
