There is a lot of reading in the game and I had to skip most of it in my first play through because it was so hard to see...

Sorry to ask, but what are the options that were added, apart for the interchangeable Male/female hair ?

Nope, as I said before with you, jaal as never been said to be straight, he could easily be a bissexual with preference for women, he may not have been into man at this point but he could easily discover his bissexuality with scott ryder, he is only 27 years old many people discover their bissexuality when they are older than that. We had no possibility to know exactly his sexual orientation because we could not ask jaal as a male ryder if he was interested in a relationship. Its not about changing him with this patch its about that now we know how he would react with scott ryder telling him he was interested, something we did not had before.

But for gil and suvy, that is completely different since they clearly said they are not interested if a ryder from a different gender ask them for. That is changing who they are because they say they don't want to be with a ryder that do not share their gender, jaal never refused scott ryder, simply because we had no possibility to ask him and push for a relationship, he could not refuse when nobody was asking.

By the way Gil as a complete arc about him and the child jil wants him to raise and that became more complex with his sexuality. Jaal on the other hand, we could just never know because scott did not even had the possbility.

Isn't bitching about gay/bi/straight options getting boring by now?

I'm interested in what the patch does to other people's games. And one has to wade through all that old hat to find even one informative post.

Because this patch is underwhelming for their "big patch". It feels like they was too busy jerking off the LGBT community they forgot the rest of the patch

Considering they are video game characters in what amounts to a power fantasy for any and all genders, then it wouldn't matter in the slightest. I'd be happy for that, I'd be happy if they were all just playersexual, just to shut these bloody frustrating and repetitive discussions up.

But so you realise, people can think they are one sexuality and understand over time that they are not the way they thought. In my old job there was a man who was gay, who told us he was gay, and he would show up to work parties with his gay partner. He was in his 40's I think, yet he ended up having an affair with a woman and ended up marrying her. Which was totally unexpected when it first appeared, but it does show that sexuality isn't as clear cut as people often believe.

So do I have a problem with someone discovering being bisexual at a later date? Of course not. If they are happy, then they should go with it.

Do I have a problem with a video game character having more romance options so any and all players can have the ingame romance that they really want, then by all means! I'm all for it!

More people will be happy at having the option than those who aren't, and frankly, in this day and age where everything is uncertain and everything feels like its going down the pan, it'd be nice to see something that makes as many people content as they can. If that means changing a video game romance, I'm all for it.




I probably wouldn't have written so much if I wasn't so pissed off with constant bickering about this and the double standards that are so frequently displayed.

No there is no needs to reveal everything from the start, writers can decide to surprise us, they can decide that character knows something we don't know, writer can decide that the sexuality of a character should not be in your face.
Some traits of characterisation are only discovered when a specific situation happens, some characters just keep things for themselves and do not reveal their pedigree. They don,t have to expose their sexuality, since when a writer cannnot keep it as a surprise?

Oh and the fact that he only flirts with woman does not mean anything. From what I remember vetra only flirted or alludes to attraction to woman, even if she is bissexual. Which could easily means she is bi with preference for woman, which is totally possible, and you might not have know she is into man until you actually push for a romance as scott ryder.
The difference is here is that you have the possibility to push for a relation with her, something you did not had with jaal.


Actually you know what, its possible that jaal KNOWS he is bissexual with a preference for woman before we met him, it just never happen that he had a sexual encounter with a man to that point, that is totally possible too., knowing you are bissexual doesn ot mean you had experience with both gender, especially if you have a preference.


And no gil and jaal are not the fucking same, jaal does not refuse a relation with scott ryder because scott does not have the possibility to ask him anything about it. Gil says clearly that he is not interested in women.



By the way, yes suvi refuse scott advances saying its professional reason, but its almost certainly that it is to not hurt his feelings. Because she is more responsive to sara ryder declaration, which means if its a man asking to go out with her, she is not interested, but she definetely is if its a woman. So we know what happens if a male ask her and when a female does.


Insisting on trying on a relation with them would be sexual harassment, if someone tells you he or she is not interested, they are  ot interested end of the line. But if you never asked someone, you could not know about it. Jaal never explicity says is sexuality, gil and suvi tells you they don't want to be with someone who does not share their gender, that is the difference. Itsn ot aobut discovering their bissexuality because they tell you they are not interested, jaal never told this to scott ryder.

I had that happen in a couple of my playthroughs before patch 1.08. I just started a new game with the patch on my ps4. It showed Hab 7 and the scourge.

I used the preset 10. I like the freckles, but dad looked....... I will most likely delete this game and start new using preset 9.

Bioware should not make player sexual LIs, some people just need to deal with the fact their fictional crush isn't into them and move on.
