I made some attempts early on to design my own Shep. They always ended up looking like escaped lab experiments The few times I played as maleShep, he looked like Charles Bronson. excellent

I actually liked the UNC assignments. People always say they were all exactly the same, just going into rooms full of boxes and shooting guys. Granted, that was half of them, but there were some unique ones.
Like UNC: Espionage Probe, where you go into the mine, and disarm the bomb, then go outside and snipe all the pirates from the cliff (or you can just run down and shoot them from inside the Mako if you're a pleb).
Or UNC: Listening Post Alpha, which was unique. You meet that awesome Alliance Lieutenant and fight the waves of crazy Rachni. Then you go into the infested mine and get to the big Rachni which could use Warp and Throw on you.
Also, Eletania. Because toxic-air breathing monkeys! Which inexplicably ended up on Tunchanka somehow in ME2.

I think Quarians and Krogans are overrated.
I didn't mind ME1's inventory.
The Shadow Broker's design was terrible. It should have been a group of Salarian crimelords, or something. That would've been far more interesting.

But it could be even better. Like Listening Post Alpha should be almost like Starship Troopers in my eyes. Or is that asking for too much? It'd probably require a lot of cinematics and funny dialogue.

Laura Bailey....she's the one who voiced Bianca in DAI, right? If I never hear her again, it will be too soon. Shun. SHUN!!!!!!!!!
Well, this is the UNpopular opinions thread.
Though I don't think hating Bianca is unpopular, but the voice did nothing to make me like her. Just the opposite, in fact. And if I come across anyone else sounding like her, I'm probably not going to like them either.

Laura Bailey could read pages from the phone book and I'd stop to listen. Wonder how (un)popular an opinion that is?

Like UNC: Espionage Probe, where you go into the mine, and disarm the bomb, then go outside and snipe all the pirates from the cliff (or you can just run down and shoot them from inside the Mako if you're a pleb). Loved that one. The one time sniping really felt like sniping and not just a medium range single shot rifle with a scope The Shadow Broker's design was terrible. It should have been a group of Salarian crimelords, or something. That would've been far more interesting. Nah, that would've been lame. I liked the uniqueness and the creature design. As well as the backstory of a pre-spaceflight alien turning the tables on his captor and becoming one of the most powerful individuals in the galaxy. If he wasn't such a dick, I'd much rather have him as SB than Liara. Though I won't shy away from admitting the tryhard aspects of the design either- it's like a krogan but smart like a salarian too! All their strengths, none of their weaknesses! Infinity plus one! Laura Bailey could read pages from the phone book and I'd stop to listen. Indeed. And Jo Wyatt could read the weekly waste management reports of Bumfuck Alabama and I'd still be love. But for unpopular voice actor related opinions, despite Jennifer Hale's range and proliferated roles, I don't think she does "tough military hero" all that well. Most non soldier, not PC characters I've heard her voiced I like. But femshep or femtrooper in TOR, not so much.

Can't be a coincidence. Now, if they didn't originate on Tuchanka, maybe that's the universe's way of giving back to Tuchanka some of what it gave to the universe.

Nope, space monkeys are an invasive species on Tuchanka. You get the story from the merchant in camp, the one who offers you a discount for killing the pyjaks. I love that mini-game!

I would've saved the Queen in ME1 if it meant actually fighting alongside one in ME3.

The irony about it is the Krogan are keeping a species down, while at the same time, you have the option of doing the same to them.

I think she overacts her characters, from overly chirpy Dagna to super-petulant Serana (from Dawnguard) and Bianca. Edit: Actually, thinking on it a little more, I think it's the slight nasality in her voice which I find distracting.

During the broker dlc, Shepard helps T'soni avoid being injured when the broker throws its desk. I would've had it setup that Thane, Jack, Garrus, Miranda, Jacob and Tali, could end the relationship with Shepard, if romanced, since apparently the asari is more important.

Not sure if really unpopular, But I couldn't but notice that all the human female romance options for a male Shepard (Ashley, Jack, Miranda, Kelly, Allers) where of white ethnicity, the only female romance partner that is different (Traynor) is exlusively lesbian. Now I Recall that the one confirmed female human squadmate for Andromeda has blonde hair, meaning she is also likely to be white (that or she is from the Solomon islands, which I don't see happening quite frankly).
Also ethnical diversity seems to be overall less for female than for male npcs in general and for squadmates in particular, not something I am particularly annoyed by, but just something that keeps occuring to be more recently.

Mark Meer was the better VA for Shepard in ME2 and ME3.
I'll never claim he was better in the first one, but he noticeably improved from game to game. And I also think Jennifer Hale is an awesome VA, and has voiced so many characters so well (which is something very few people have the talent for), I just don't think she did as good a job as Meer did for the last two ME games.

I'm with straykat... yes, it's something they could have improved in the Trilogy. I'm also convinced that Ashley, although "mostly white," could be thought to have had some Latino or African or Mid-Eastern ancestry... which, I thought, was actually made more prominent in ME3 when they enlarged her lips... and, of course, her voice actress is not white... and I always thought that Ashley looked a little like her VA... and I think her actual face model was Erica Cerra... who is of Italian descent. As for ME:A... well, we'll have to wait to see... hair color doesn't have to be natural hair color. Girls of lots of different ethnic backgrounds dye their hair blond. From what I've seen on YouTube, however - most players who did not use the defaults tended to make white Shepards anyways.

Garrus just annoyed me. Shep should have banged Chakwas. None of the first games squaddies are that interesting bar Wrex. Liara was just bloody annoying and was waiting to be spaced. The Geth did deserve to die and legion should have been spaced at the first opportunity. ME3s ending is so poor I now think of Cronos Station as the ending. Everything beyond that is utter garbage.* I too wanted a happy(ish) ending. The first time I played mass effect I gave up when i got to liara. Space her ffs.... The best character in the whole trilogy imo is Mordin. *unless you see the ending as being consistant with IT

I would've love it if the male customization followed the default's skull structure. It always felt off to me because I can't seem to make the features look proportional. It was either the upper skull wider than the bottom, or the jaw wider than the forehead or the cheeks wider than both of them. The eyes too flat and dull. Weird noses. etc. Never quite find the right face for BroShep which is a bummer. I grew up reading fashion magazines with Vanderloo in DKNY perfume ads so I never quite believe he is THE Commander Shepard... then I watch Farscape and realized that Meer never hold a flame to the glorious Ben Browder... so... Commander Shepard is always a badass soldier who happened to be girl.

- I like the Hammerhead. Better than Mako, which at first I didn't like at all. Mako is not that bad either, but definitely not very fun to drive. - I don't like Hale's voice for Shepard and it was the main reason why I never finished my one and only fem!Shep trilogy playthrough. She sounds too much like a man (which is why they cast her to play Krem in DAI). - I think Meer did good job as M!Shep. I like his voice acting. - I never liked krogans, salarians or turians, because they were so one-dimensional and uninteresting. - Kai Leng was OK character. - Kaidan and M!Sheps romance in ME3 was disappointing and not well written. - I did not like Mass Effects use of real face models for their characters. They always looked just very weird and out of place. - I liked Cerberus more than the Alliance and wish we could have sided with them in ME3. - Sabotaging the Genophage is the right choice, in my opinion. - I liked ME3's ending. I like that Shepard has to die in order to defeat the Reapers, that there is no way out. It's a good end for the character. - I think Miranda and Liara are unattractive and Liara is also one of my least favorite characters in the entire trilogy (right there with Anderson, Rupert Gardner etc.) - I hate that Shepard is automatically friends with every old squadmate he meets in ME2. I also hate that so much of his personality, relationships and opinions are pre-defined and the player is not given enough of control over him. Nothing is more annoying than that for me. - I don't care about Conrad Verner. I know most people think he is sympathetic but I don't find him that funny or interesting. - I like Udina, his voice is brilliant and I always make him the councilor in ME1. Then kill him in ME3. - When I first played ME1 I really disliked the name 'Shepard.' Now I'm kind of used to it. - I hate the default Shepard. I hate that there even is a default look for the character and especially that it's in the cover art of ME 1-3. - I don't care about practical armor when it comes to video games. Especially if the same rules don't apply to companions. I find it very annoying that Shepard is stuck with the same old spacesuit instead of something cool like what Jacob, Jack, Miranda and Thane are wearing. - I like Grunt. He is my favorite krogan, not Wrex (who was well written and a good rival to Shepard in ME3)
