I'm not keen on how bonus powers work in Mass Effect 1. Primarily the fact that if you do your first playthrough as an adept, you cannot make a non-biotic character on your second. From a roleplaying point of view, that bugs me.

Wrex should succeed in his attempt to kill Shepard if you sabotage the genophage cure. There's some merit to this. I wouldn't have this a direct kill, since that's just a game over way too late in the game from the action that led to it. Instead, maybe a grave injury that makes it impossible to survive the ending, regardless of war assets or ending chosen. Also, maybe the Earth suffers more due to lack of krogan presence. That could make people rethink their replays. You could have the option to continue the game by playing as Garrus, Liara etc.

Lol, OP. I liked your post when you said I think Meer was better voice for Shep than Hale But unliked it when you said I think that Kaidan should remain straight On another note: Personally, I find ME3 to be the best game out of them all. And, yes. A game after the events of ME3 (even just a few years after) with Shepard is totally and completely doable and desirable. Or a prequel game covering The First Contact War.

Some of my today's interaction with Mass Effect's 'general' fandom really made me worry.... Its fine to accept racism and genocide because of someone's culture. Its okay to romanticize stalking and sexual harassment as long as its within the "romance" narrative. Encouraging everyone to laugh at a tortured naked autistic boy. By mostly Americans too.... I know this is the internet but really.... what happened guys? That's really not normal

Some of my today's interaction with Mass Effect's 'general' fandom really made me worry.... Its fine to accept racism and genocide because of someone's culture. Naturally. Just be ready to nuke this culture anytime. It's called "devotion" within romance narrative. It's called stalking in police record. Dark humor is older than the internet. Not having taboos is kinda the point of it. I'm not American, so feel free to be disappointed in humanity as a whole.

I'm not American either... my fandom interactions have always been an international-variant (but this is a ME group on facebook). Its a discussion about genophage, my stance is always pro-Wrex and pro-cure because its not exactly a good thing. The 'cure' will make all krogan sicker and die easier regardless of male or female, want babies or don't want babies, young or old. And in the end, its just you trying to find justification of why an active thousand-years-old genocide need to stay (when everyone gonna die from the reapers anyway). But I never seen anyone being so gleefully and straight up insisting to me that he's "fine with being racist and proudly pro-genocide" and he goes on about how he would justify genocide against people he's prejudiced against in real life... like (I actually learn about US eugenics program because a LOT of people kept insisting eugenics are necessary as a birth control...) Internet have always been dark place but always in anonymity and I have seen weird things and have no issues subverting trolling but these... seem genuine... yelch... my faith in humanity momentarily dwindled.

Remember what happened to the cured female krogans? Of all, only one survive. And Eve could barely survive without Maelon's data. That's what the cure will do to the krogan species; Lowered lifespan for a species that could age over a thousand years. Unlike the Asari, Krogans are biologically immortal, they never die naturally. Mordin and Padok Wiks both mentioned Krogan's longterm illness from the cure at the Shroud. The issues with the krogan was about the fear of overpopulation (high birth rates and low death rates is trouble). The overbreeding condition only manifest if the krogan females gave birth outside their homeworld's radiation. By ME3, most krogan you met (except the tank bred/clones) are centuries old and it exacerbate further because krogan have unnaturally high male to female ratio. The Salarians doesn't actually want to sterilize all of them, just keeping them as hard-to-die warmongering canonfodders just in case of an intergalactic war blew up. They need the krogan again to win wars... (Hence, why the Primarch immediately offer to build an alliance with the Krogan). Also, why wouldn't anyone play the trilogy with Wrex anyway? Let the poor guy have his baby.

Let the poor guy have his baby. The game hints the illness was the result of Malon's unrefined cure. With Eve and his data it is implied that Mordin/Padok was capable of over coming this problem and preventing the health issues associated with Maelon's data.

And what would be considered common sense and decency in pretty much every other place that isn't a shit hole run by an egomaniac dictatorship. Then do the exact opposite. That is pretty much USA in a nut shell. Doesn't apply to everyone but seem to apply to the majority.

The cure required the immune system to mutate and support reproductive hormones which should be irreversible. But cured or not, they all still have the Genophage, its just already pregnant mothers could no longer gamble on whether their babies came out alive or dead.
Seems extreme though. I don't think every single krogan want to have children and having your lifespan halved simply because some people want babies....
I still haven't watch Children of Men though but the situation does seems horrid.

A bit better then a mother looking at all the still born children.

Hell, part of why I use ME3 mods is to allow Shepard, the quarians and the geth to all survive. Also, my tendency is to save the krogan, particularly if Wrex and Bakara are both alive. The stalking is presumably from Liara. Even when I have romanced her (before mods) I still dumped her by ME3. Laughing at David is not something I ever did. I actually take great pleasure in denying Dr. Archer any info in ME3 just so that he'll kill himself. The first time it happened I had no idea but man did I ever see that as a proper ending for that asshole for torturing his autistic teen brother. Also, David's own gratitude is quite heartwarming.

Understand that over the last year a lot of people's prejudices (in the US) have come out in full force. Don't care to get into the reasons behind it but it's true. That means those people are now more vocal than ever before.

I'm not sure why I was expected to like Liara's extreme default attachment to non-romanced Shepard... or like that Shepard start a romance by being an actual creep to Garrus...neither of these are romantic.. And just because so many don't mind it, and ganging up with friends to bully me that its fine, won't change the fact that those are legally pathological behavior..... and this is the part where I am really reminded of Twilight and Fifty Shades fandom... (so glad that phase is over in some people I know).
I really don't mind that everyone have their own romance preferences.. I mean I do like unconventional romances. I'm a big fan of Arcann and kept bugging Bioware that I want romance him and he was a primary villain who tried to kill my main character. He didn't do it because he hate her, his dad did possessed her body and Arcann was trying to prevent the return of his psychotic father. But there are also subtle way that Arcann look at my Wrath that hint his fascination for her since the first time they met, and she did save him and he save her in return. Willingly trade his birthright to be by her side, all without much of a kiss. Now this is a love story that only fiction can tell.

Ok... this is really a really unpopular one.
I really don't like FemShep being a default green-eyed redheaded girl.... I know, its the rarest color combination in humanity, the common trope in YA literature and self-inserts, and undoubtedly made default FemShep look extra special to a lot of people. But she still ultimately started out as a custom character.
And I wished more people would be fine with just cosplaying as themselves being FemShep, rather than donning horrible red wigs. FemShep isn't an anime character.

I do have another problem though, and for that I have to make a distinction between the default femshep of ME1+2 and her redesign in ME3. In ME1, and to a slightly lesser extent in ME2, I think she looks like a relatively normal human being, rare colours notwithstanding. In ME3, they turned her into a freakish barbie doll, that's what I really dislike.

Liara has problems, serious head problems. Why does she have Shepard's armor in a glass case like its a prize/trophy? Why did she have Shepard's dna all over her apartment? What was she going to do with it if Shepard never came back? Why didn't she make any effort to let anyone know that Shepard's body is in Cerberus hands? This happens even if not romanced. I would be curious what her answers would be if Shepard had the option to ask her those questions. She is a character my Shepard wants nothing to do with, but Bioware says otherwise.

I could shoot Conrad Verner for being excessively fanboyish (which I never do) and yet I can't do or say anything when Liara also made shrines out of me....? which is apparently nothing and harmless? Pretty girl do get away with everything right? (Except I'm a pretty girl too which does cancel that bs out...)
I wished this was a nitpicking complaint.... except avoiding her was never optional.
Also, I was really irritated that I can't even escape her even in Andromeda. I just want to learn more about my in-game dad and somehow she KNOWS I'm Shepard. I know this was the Liara's grandmaster fanboy doing. Honestly, if this crap still happen with ME5, I legit going to tear any Liara shit from the Mass Effect stuff that I already have and openly burn it.

Would be a lot nicer if Mass Effect let you choose different body types... even SWTOR isn't perfect but at least I could do a seriously buff FemTrooper who sound like FemShep. Or maybe randomize the face and body types of all human and aliens so everyone don't look the same always...
