Now to the point, Merrill just because eleven bias the other options are rubbish. Also, going solo Hawke is more attractive than ever (better alone than with bad company, eh?). uhm... Am i getting cranky? or i just can't take one dimensional characters anymore? I'd say your taste has just changed...or at least when it comes to certain romance options
I have the same thing with my Warden, where I can't exactly picture her with any of the romance options...and the one person I could/would see her with is unavailable (Nathaniel Howe) as a romance option

Same with DAI, i can't stand the fetch quest/influence grind anymore, i fall sleep. At least DAO still holds up for me.

I still like each of the installments, but I have an increasing dread to start with any of them because I've no idea what to play as each time I think I've an idea lined up, I see another one online or another pops into my head and I start doubting myself...which is very annoying
for Mass Effect it's for me pretty simple, play a fem!Shep sentinel/vanguard, be a 80/20 Paragade and romance Kaidan

Couldn't take the slow pace of ME1, the daddy issues in ME2 and stabbing Kai Leng for the 99 time in ME3. Maybe a lenghty absence will get my interest in the franchise back... if not, there is greener grass somewhere else (BG3, if Larian finish it before i die get my grade).

I have a mod for my mage that allows me to open locks, so I can use either mage or rogue in DAO
I did the same for ME...I hadn't played for years since the LE announcement came, mostly due to literal nightmares about husks so it was really fun to revisit the series... even missed out on a few scenes because I was a bit rushed, so I might replay again at some point.
I'm interested in BG3 as well, apparently they're pushing for a 2022 release but I guess we'll have to wait and see
