Some people are really hopeful around here and i wish i could be like you guys but Andromeda really damaged the brand and i don't think that it will ever get a sequel. Even if i didn't loved Andromeda i wanted to see what they could do with MEA2 but i don't really think it's happening. Not because of Kotaku or internet trolls, but because that's what it really looks like.
I hope they surprise me.

That Andromeda provided an excellent framework without delivering. It's just like taking all the right ingredients for a soup and forgetting to add something as basic as salt. The soup's bland without it and so is this game. I would love for them to have another go on what they missed, be it by DLCs, expansions or sequels. But I don'Ät believe this will happen. The missed opportunity is probably the biggest disappointment for me.

Sadly, it will be funny to visit this place once it is official revealed that the ME brand is done and Bioware/EA is ready to move on to bigger and better things.

Yeah, this place drips bunch of denial and false hope. Sadly, it will be funny to visit this place once it is official revealed that the ME brand is done and Bioware/EA is ready to move on to bigger and better things. Which will never happen. Any company admitting to not continuing an emotional franchise would commit professional suicide. I also wouldn't say it would be funny since there's no gloating involved on my parts. I would have loved for this game delivering on all the promises it made. Sadly that didn't happen, and the only hope that's left is DA4, if that is ever to happen. I'm not the least bit interested in Anthem or whatever that online shit is called these days. Thank you, but no thank you.

you know who could put all this to rest? Bioware or EA, but have they? Nope. They have been silent when it comes to what was said in the article or even if there will be any DLC. The silence does keep the game relevant somewhat as it keeps people talking about the game, even if it's bad press, it's still press. If you speak corporate and PR, they confirmed downsizing Montreal using a positive spin. That's all you can expect any major company to say. They will never say they're discontinuing the series, nor will they say anything on bad reception. They keep their powder dry and try to not antagonize fans of the series. And yet people cannot see the writing on the wall. They want Bioware/EA to somehow officially come out and say that ME is dead which they won't. Hell we have a greater chance of getting Jade Empire 2 (with Anthem style graphics) than we do with MEA2.

The quarian dlc was likely started already so i would expect it to be released for sure. After that, nobody knows - if you trust these Kotaku news ME will be shelved for a while. These kind of "behind the scenes" news are always divisive like that, because by it's very nature they can't cite sources, so not everyone is willing to beleive it. In the end time proves if there awas any truth to it, or it was just a reporter trying to get views. yeah it's await and see situation I think but I suspect if anything is coming it'll likely be announced soon.

I'm not the least bit interested in Anthem or whatever that online shit is called these days. Thank you, but no thank you. Soderlund recently admitted that mistakes were made, and he's the one who was pushing for a remaster of the Trilogy (I've mentioned this before). Patrick Soderlund, VP of EA? If HE is still invested in the franchise, I'm not stressing so much. Considering that this game was thrown together in about the same time as DA2 (which means this really IS Mass Effects 'DA2 moment'), I'm...actually impressed. AND, a whole bunch of people decried DA2, thought the franchise was dead as a doornail, wailing and gnashing their teeth as if the world was coming to an end... ...except it didn't, Dragon Age recovered in excellent fashion and is moving forward to bigger and better things as the NEW premier franchise for Bioware. So now...Mass Effect. What needs to happen here is NOT a reboot, but they need to sit down, tear apart the game and find out what went wrong. THEN find out what went RIGHT and build on it. This is NOT the end of Mass Effect. If I had a star player who was still in their prime and traded them just because they blew one season...what idiot does that? If they still have life in them, you get them back into shape, buckle down on them and double your efforts to win. I could go ON and ON with the analogies, but this franchise ISN'T dead. No way. Yes, it looks like they'll be cramming Multiplayer into EVERYTHING now, but that will bring in cash so they can step up the single player stuff. YES, that happens. Just like concert sales and CD sales having different revenue effects on the artists, different income sources for software has different and cumulative effects upon development. We're good...and there is a strong chance of SP DLC. Yes, they always say...'we haven't planned for any-'...lies. They planned for it, even if they don't have all the deets nailed down yet. We're good.

Which tells me, they're not even sufficiently convinced by their own efforts to sell something thy may not be able to deliver.

If it's a MP game only then fine but some people buy season passes thinking the SP content is included and in many cases it isn't. Not selling season passes for a mostly sp company is a good thing imo.

Not selling season passes for a mostly sp company is a good thing imo. Bethesda is exclusively focused on single player and I bought their season pass early on. Going by what they delivered I got more than I could hope for for 29.99.

Indeed we have acknowledged that MEA is on the back foot but DA2 was as well and yet that got salvaged through it's DLC I think so there's every chance they might try the same tactic with MEA. There is no proof to say they will or won't at this stage which is where my "wait and see" statement comes in in my earlier post as I think we won't have to wait too much longer to find out. They've said 1.08 isn't going to be the last patch and they are going to continue to add and tweak things in MEA through patches. We just need to be patient and find out what but while they are continuing to patch things up there is still hope that a DLC or 2 might come our way.

I agree, I guess I'm in the "sky is falling" lot but I just don't see EA giving BW 40+ million dollars to make a sequel to a laughing stock of a game that most people wouldn't buy. Not when they are banking on these new games to draw in a new fanbase. All of their time and money will be spent on Anthem and A Way Out. Not a game they didn't even care enough about to hand to their best team.

It's more than you have to prove your point. No, I don't feel like it. I've given up on trying to dissuade people from lapping up every corporate spittle. That also means I failed at my job, since as I said before in other threads, I've been reporting on PR and advertising for the last 20 years. Kind of frustrating, I have to admit. But yes, people elected Trump, after all. So a shiny surface Trumps all.

So, when SP DLC drops, what then? If it's the Quarian one, it's business as usual. If it's something differnt, things will get interesting. But, again, the inference from reddit post was no SP DLC at all...like BioWare Montreal just shuttered and dropped all Andromeda related stuff hard stop. I just wish I had a better idea who the reporters sources were...low-level techs...mid-level management...grunts in animation. I mean some things are self-explanatory while others require context. Sinclair Network was recently told to turn in all "content" but to keep working on patches. If Sinclair is working the SP DLC, what happens to Montreal is irrelevant in terms of future SP DLC. I think the Quarian DLC is almost a guarantee at this point and if a 2nd one is incoming? All bets are off. As of now, there is still a comic series and two more novels coming for Andromeda so the fire is still somewhat stoked from a narrative perspective

Wow, this thread was still on page 1 when I went to bed last night. FWIW, I think that anyone who (a) takes Jason's article as gospel or ( refuses to believe a word in it, is being naive. The truth rarely lies at either extreme. I sincerely hope that they do follow through with the Quarian DLC and use it to tie up a few loose ends. I just want them to make an announcement about it soon because I'm kinda ready to move onto something if the SP side of the game is done. Heh, maybe that's why they haven't announced anything yet...

Seems like a missed opportunity to make money. Without DLC how can they introduce more MP characters to place behind the ultra rare pay wall?
