After some fine reporting by Kotaku a while a go, many here refused to believe facts and rather embraced corporate lies. That's because they are Americans.

For those actually interested in the truth, the reporter eloborated on it over on Reddit:

Hey - I'm Jason Schreier, an editor over at Kotaku. I've seen a lot of posts on this subreddit about my report last month that BioWare Montreal was scaled down and that Mass Effect is on ice. I've seen a ton of you guys say things like "Kotaku clickbait" and "Kotaku is exaggerating what happens at every studio" so let me clear a few things up, based on conversations I've had with several people who know what's going on over there:

1) As far as I know, BioWare Montreal did not expect to be scaled down after they finished Andromeda - they expected to work on a sequel right away. This was not the sort of standard development downsizing or cycling you'd normally see at a game studio. From everything I've heard, most people at BioWare expected Mass Effect to continue immediately after Andromeda launched. The controversial reception to Andromeda DIRECTLY changed things. This was not "business as usual" -- that was the point of my article.

2) My understanding is that the studio has been completely gutted. I've heard that there are dozens and dozens of empty computers as people have moved, or left, and I expect more people to depart the studio this month. It's really sad.

3) I can't say I'm 100% sure about this, but I don't expect there to be any single-player Andromeda DLC, unfortunately.

4) "Clickbait" is an article that obfuscates news or misleads you in order to get you to click. Too many people use the word "clickbait" to refer to articles they just don't like. It bums me out.

I recommend reading this story if you haven't already. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but sometimes it's my job. I just want it to be clear that we're not exaggerating or sensationalizing the situation here.

As I said on another thread, Even when Ea does not plan to continue a series, the game gets dlc. Dead space 3 was the last of the dead space and EA knew there were not gonna do more dead space, but they sure as hell made dlc for it.

And even then, even if mass effect was indeed put on hiatus does not mean we shall never get a sequel, that is what happens with assassins creed, they have put series on hiatus after AC syndicate, but it does not mean they are not actually making another one, and the next will be in egypt. They were not working on it at this very moment. which did not mean they had no plans to do it eventually.

That's not the point. We still love ME series. We will never find out what really happened, so we look for the answers wherever we can - BW got silent, they are not talking with us anymore. I just feel sorry for all those people, who's been working hard in last 18 months trying to deliver the best they can in such short period of time. I am not sorry for their F U management, who should be sacked for destroying 5 years of MEA development and putting such a great series into misery. I don't need Kotaku reports to know that MEA wasn't the game it meant to be. I don't need internal sources to know that game we got on 21st march should NEVER be released on that date.

Other thing is that EVERYONE who bought MEA deserve a closure - Ryder's storyline, Quarian Ark, some other things. And we need to push BioWare day by day, we have to remind them all the time that they are obliged to deliver those answers. That's the only thing we can do.

Agreed I've asked whether we'll see any haven't had a response though. I suspect we'll find out soon though given the game has now been out a few months one way or another. I think we need to know as well as to whether to consider MEA a lost cause or not. Given they're stlil patching it aand while they'er still patching it I'd say there's still a chance. But we need moer info and soon I'd say. DA2 was able to be salvaged through it's DLC. I still hope that we can say the same for MEA and that the damage will not be permanent.

I'm American too. I also have a college education, traveled around the world, spent time in the Army as a combat medic and enjoy the pursuit of happiness. 'Merica, F*** yeah!

i really like pathfinder's setting but i REALLY don't like how focused on min/maxing the rules are. it's designed from the ground up by and for min/maxer's and autists. the rest of us normies have to play on crayon eater difficulty just to hit a target.

Of course they know. It's simple as that - they planned DLC - because you got this post-ending message about Quarians. So if they were planning DLC, for sure it is / it supposed to be already in production/pre-production stage. There is only one small problem - at the moment they discuss a lot of stuff with fans here are there, but everytime when someone mention "MEA DLC" suddenly they go silent.
Ask yourself what could be the reason for it.

The quarian dlc was likely started already so i would expect it to be released for sure. After that, nobody knows - if you trust these Kotaku news ME will be shelved for a while.

These kind of "behind the scenes" news are always divisive like that, because by it's very nature they can't cite sources, so not everyone is willing to beleive it. In the end time proves if there awas any truth to it, or it was just a reporter trying to get views.
