Lol. Kotaku is made of clickbait, it basks in it. This guy amended edited his article several times because it was misleading, and now we're supposed to just gobble up his hearsay like it was the gospel.
There's no doubt the Montreal team was downsized and shuffled around, and a direct sequel isn't happening anytime soon if ever. But this isn't The Death Of Mass Effect.

There were people that were claiming the same thing with Mass Effect 2 as well because they "gutted all RPG elements". Even Mass Effect 1 was the signal of the death of BioWare because at launch it was a console exclusive and not KOTOR. It always seems like when a new BioWare game is released it is always the death of the franchise or studio.

Not to my recollection, ME1 was a big hit, got rave reviews, everyone knew that ME1 was coming to the PC and it was was released just 4 month later. I also remember people being a little bit disappointed that ME2 had dropped a some of the RPG elements and the Mako, but overall the game was a judged an instant classic by professional reviewers and fans alike. These are not in any way comparable to the how ME:A has been received.

Why are so many people in denial that EA may be done with MEA? Either you are living under a rock and believe MEA to be a financial and critical hit worthy of a sequel, or you know that MEA wasnt so hot but out of sheer defiance, you still expect another ME game. I dont knoe which is worse.... Anything is possible, but I am not going to base everything on what one author on Kotaku is posting either. If I believed that Mass Effect is dead I would no longer post here for there would be better uses of my time. Edit: Spelling So you dont want to believe the article cause it does not reinforce your own opinion?

I don't want to hear this news anymore than other MEA fans (or people who at least want to "salvage" MEA through DLC/a sequel), and if true I think it's a massive overreaction by EA, but Jason has a good record for behind-the-scenes scoops and does have legit sources so I'm going to lean towards it being true. Hope I'm wrong. But I think there's a lot of unpleasant cognitive dissonance going on in here. Naturally, the inclination is go into an aggressive state of denial. Just be wary that you may be only fooling yourselves.

Mass Effect is such a strong asset that I have my own doubts that EA/BIOWARE would drop the license for good.
So one way or the other there will be a future for the MEA game. As mentionned by others, let's hope it will not be in 5 years....
Anyway if we don't get a DLC in the next months and a MEA2 in the coming two years, I will personnaly stop byuing any EA GAMES in the future .
There are plenty of other very good games, not produced by EA

Who knows?
What they'll prolly do, which is what I would do if I were at EA/BioWare, is release a remastered version of the MET to get those numbers up so that you can work on the next installment, and then release a better MEA2 and never speak of MEA (*cough*dumpsterfire*cough*) again. Who cares if you rewrite some of the 'lore' that was in MEA. I'd get rid of the scourge, first of all. 'Cause that shit's stupid as fuck. Kett as well. Both are just so incredibly stupid.

Incredibly shortsighted imo if they have canned all DLC for Andromeda. It's quite simple, really. Does their market research say, producing and sellign DLCs will gain them a sufficient revenue, they will produce them. Do they want to continue the franchise in the foreseeable future, they will produce them. Don't they expect any of that to happen, they won't waste money and manpower. It's not shortsighted, it's just how the business works.

I would just love to know what Cora-related stuff her actress was doing in May if there's no DLC. EA is freakin' cheap. They're cheap and I dare anyone... ANYONE... challenge me on this. Anyway, as cheap as they are... do you really think they're going to throw money away at some VA? Hell no. That stuff is getting used because that's a glaring red minus in the books. Those costs are either going to be absorbed in some way through payroll or through a contract. My guess (like every video game journalist out there) is that we'll have DLC. Shoot... I should open a betting site on this.

Well given they've produced DLC for games that have sold far worse, they've got very odd research Plus the danger of loss of future revenue by antagonising your customer base

Plus the danger of loss of future revenue by antagonising your customer base Not that many, I would say, Even though MEA is my least favorite Bioware game, I would buy another game if it sounds interesting and gets good reviews by reviewers I trust. Most of the gamers don't even come here. I don't imagine that many of them would tie their customer loyalty to getting some DLC or not. I'm pretty sure, we get the Quarian one anyway at some point. Personally that doesn't interest me very much, since I never have been a Quarian fan, but it seems that one already was in production when the game was released. Otherwise they wouldn't have made a point of the Quarian message at the very end of the game.

After some fine reporting by Kotaku a while a go, many here refused to believe facts and rather embraced corporate lies. That's because they are Americans. For those actually interested in the truth, the reporter eloborated on it over on Reddit: Fuck this guy and his lies. EDIT: he is clearly covering his ass for sales of his book. If a big chunk of people see him as self serving, self promoting and inaccurate or dramatizing and lying his book will not sell. Know what else? That whole story about MEA that he wrote? Was from his fucking book to sell his book. So I reiterate. Fuck this guy. His agenda couldn't be more clear if it was written in all caps, bold face type saying 'I'm here to sell my book and clear my name because I can't sell my book until people believe my 'sources say' stuff.' Also: Read my story then buy my book. God, fuck this guy.

The fact he never mentions Sinclair Networks in anything he's posted means he's missing a piece Sinclair is a whole story on its own. Up until this whole shebang, I hadn't heard of the studio, or how many other AAA games they worked on. They are hard to find info about online, anyone know more about them? I'll just bet they have a very, very interesting story to tell, not Kotaku (I'm so tired of Kotaku!)

His regular gig is at Kotaku, though. So according to your crazypants logic, because he has a book coming, he should not write for Kotaku in the meantime? Anything he writes during his regular job is there only to sell his upcoming book? This is just silly.
