Mass Effect 1 (Xbox 360) launched November 2007 and Bring Down the Sky launched in March 2008.....5 months after game launch.
Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360/PC) launched January 2010 and Overlord launched in June 2010.....5 months after game launch.
Mass Effect 3 (360,PS3, and PC) launched March 2012 and Levitation launched in August 2012.....5 months after game launch.
For an added bonus:
Dragon Age Inquisition launched November 2014 and Jaws of Hakkon launched March 2015.....5 months after game launch.
As you can see, 5 months after launch seems to be the point where Bioware releases the 1st major story DLC for their games if using past ME games along with their most recent DAI as factual reference. This means that if there is any story DLC for MEA, it should release in August which is 2 months away.
Take that for what you want but I am just going by factual patterns from the past.

Both ME2 and ME3 had DLCs before those. ME2 had Kasumi, among other small ones and ME3 had the Extended Cut. And that's ignoring day 1 DLC.
All that said, it's indeed too soon to know if MEA will have a sp DLC or not. I was confident it would, now I'm not so sure. I'd say it's 50-50. But if there is one, it will almost certainly be the only one.

Kasumi was basically a loyalty mission that probably should have been in the main game, same with Zaeed. Same goes for the From Ashes ME3 dlc which was basically cut material from the base game. But yeah, I see your point.

Well the kasumi dlc is not very long to make its much less ambitious than a jaws of hakon dlc, and MEA is probably going to have a dlc after 5 months because they had to put extra ressources for patch on animation. So even if it does not come in 5 months I would not say there is no possibility to see one.

Kasumi's mission is quite well built. Certainly not as much as Overlord and especially LotSB but it's a great mission nonetheless, with some memorable moments, new enemy tatics and a cool boss fight. Not to mention the quite parts like the party and the interior of the vault and it gives you a new squadmate for the entire game. It's probably better than Arrival for example.
It's true it was long planned and probably some of it was already done before ME2 was release, but that reason is exactly what gives some hope that we will see a MEA DLC: it was already planned and part of it was already done.

How long after release are the DLCs typically announced? yeah exactly and I think that's the big questoin given they've not announced anything but they aer still patching the game which in a sense I think gives people hope that something could be on the way. It's just a difficult thing to read right now. Hopefully something still will happen though. I would imagine though that if we are going to get anything DLC related they'll hopefully announce it within the next month or so.

That's my guess for the heavily hinted at Quarian one also. You don't do that if there isn't something already in the pipeline. So my guess is, this will be published. I'm sceptical about there being any additional SP DLCs.

I think it might be not because of the DLC itself, but because it pushed Levithan to a latter date. It's possible that if there was no EC (and no ending controversy) Leviathan would have come out sooner. Just a guess of course.

Not to mention this recent patch had editors, writers, animators and voice actors come in to make it, so a DLC is very likely.

I am just not buying this thin hope that because there are patches then there must be a story DLC coming. Rockstar Games continued to patch the SP aspects of GTA5 and yet as of today not one SP DLC has been released. Like I said though, 5 months after launcg seems to be the sweet spot. If July passes and no DLC is announced, it may be clear that MEA is dead.

They had to bring the actors back in, animate new scenes and write a new love story for them. All in 2 months, and then Cora's VA says in May she's in the studio as Cora again. I have no doubt about a DLC being made, but this patch likely delayed things since it took more time and resources to be made.

Yeah I agree that if they don't announce anything within the next couple of months there likely won't be any so we'll justhave to keep an ear to the grouind and listen out for anything in the meantime as it's all we can do.

How long after release are the DLCs typically announced? I'm assuming it varies. As an example, Hakkon was announced and released that same day (a month later on ps4, but still accurate). I believe Decent and Trespasser as well, although Trespasser had a couple day window between announcement and release. With YouTube and all that, you don't need a con or a presser anymore for dlc announcements. Meaning it's feasible to announce and release that same day.

How long after release are the DLCs typically announced? I did a search for the release date of Mass Effect 3: Citadel. They announced it on February 21st and released it on March 5th. I also searched for Trespasser for Dragon Age: Inquisition and it was announced on August 29th and was released on September 8th. So it is only a couple of weeks for official announcements prior to launch.

On what do you base your assumption that all of this has been newly developed and not just implemented? Within four to five weeks? Writing, developing, voicing? Well, OK, if people want to believe, they believe anything.

Also they said in the patch notes they had to create new stuff since Scott/Jaal was not cut content (minus a few lines) but new, and they had to figure out how to make it work. I believe facts not stupid, biased thinking like that article has created.

This whole thing just feels really off, but I can't put a finger on what it is.
