I'd say the Rachni Wars and the Rebellions wouldn't be worth more than animated shorts in parts like the Animatrix or something, not a full length pair of games. That's when good writing comes in ME2 is a full game based on almost nothing story-wise (compared to ME1) The rachni wars + Krogan rebellion can definitely be put in a game. Start out with council races getting their asses whopped, send salarisns to uplift Krogan, grow Krogan into super soldiers, beat rachni, then expand into Krogan demands of wanting more worlds, why council opposed it, then move into the the war between them up to the enactment of the genophage. It can really be expanded on if written correctly. im still no fan of making games about things we already know about though. We know the protheans lost last generation, why make a game on it? We know all about the rachni wars and the Krogan rebellions, why make a game on it? We also know about first contact so why make a game about it? Personally I just have no interest in playing something that's already been done and we know how it ends, I much prefer they go towards the future instead. Still, you can easily make a long game out of about anything in ME history.

It's a fair bet that such a setup would turn a good number of people off. For myself, I know outright I'd never buy that game, because aside from having zero interest in playing 30+ hours of any of the ancient milky way wars, I don't think I'd care to hear hours upon hours of nothing but gruff krogan voices and looking at a bunch of bat-faced dinosaurs with shotguns.

I would love to play as another species. It just sadly will never happen, becazse Bioware insists Mass Effect is a human story.

Yes, definitely. I would love to have a system like in Dragon Age: Origins, where each race has it's own origin and some sort of personal quest. This could had been executed well in Andromeda, though it would require a lot more work and some overall changes for the story. However, if I were to plan Andromeda from beginning, then I would give the player the opportunity to play as Human, Turian, Asari or Salarian. Depending on your choice you would start on different arc with different problems of your race. The "prologue" would be focused on fixing problems with the arc and finding Nexus. Andromeda is also about personal story with Ryder's family, so other race's pathfinders would need to have their own, exclusive equivalent quest. Basically the changes would be limited to the first part of the game until you find Nexus + different "family" quest AND maybe some slight differences in the ending. Most definitely doable. Yeah, that's how I'd see it playing out as well.

Yeah maybe as an expansion like in DAO where you could play as a Hurlock (I thinkl).

If we could play as an asari, literally everyone becomes a romance option.

I would love to, but in a spin-off game. Let's keep the trilogies stay focussed with a female/male human protagonist, it would be pretty wierd to play as a Salarian in MEA2. A spin-off game, based on Andromeda saga, where you could play a Salarian, Asari, Turian, Krogan, etc. could be nice.

I would love to play as another species. It just sadly will never happen, becazse Bioware insists Mass Effect is a human story. I blame the fans more so than bioware, half these "no!" Don't even give a reason and then some that do give a reason don't hold up such as mass effect being "unique" by using the human perspective when 50 other games and movies already did it, there's nothing special about that in mass effect and we've had various games to see alien culture from the human perspective anyways, time for change👏

As a hardcore dwarf fan, I lean towards "no" for Mass Effect. I 100% agree with you on how playing different races in DAI led to neat dialogue changes and so on. Multiple races in Dragon Age provide a bird's eye view since you're more aware of how your choices affect other people. In Mass Effect, you are pulled into the moment and completely into Shepard/Ryder. Different immersions, different strengths.
My "no" is based on my fatigue over the past decade of Bioware games. There have been constant animation problems for different races. Not just in romance scenes, but in regular ones, too. Story content consistently has a stronger focus on humans and elves. And after seeing how limited Vetra's scenes were compared to the human/asari counterparts, I really don't want to go down that road again. I am not interested in repeating the same frustrations in Mass Effect if that makes sense.

I wouldn't be opposed to an eventual entry into the Mass Effect series where other races were playable. The big however is Bioware would need to devote a lot of resources to increasing the amount of models and customization option for other races and deciding which races get that treatment. I can imagine a good portion of the fanbase will riot if Turians and/or Quarians are not playable due to the popularity surrounding them.
I do think Bioware should bring back control over our companions in combat. We seem to lose a little more each game entry in terms of customizing and directing them. ME:A2 would benefit from the ability to switch between party members with us, like we could in KOTOR or Dragon Age: Origins, and I'd argue that implementing a tactics system like we had in Origins to specify companion behavior based on certain conditions would be very useful for us tactical types that want to play through Insanity on a regular basis.

If Bioware decided to create a narrative in which you can choose the protagonist's race, I would not care since the human choice will remain playable anyway.

I've said in the past that turians and asari are the safest bets for race options. The problem with adding any more on top of that really comes down to the number of different distinct voices required each added species, aside from issues with animating in cutscenes with characters that can have significant size differences. Quarians and turians could potentially share the voices across genders, though some fans would undoubtedly bitch at the lack of the signature accent (just like how DAI's elf does not share the same accent with other Dalish but instead talks like a shem). Beyond that, anything more would put the voice count at 6, which is quite a lot for a game with a lot of spoken line options.
