Yeah, but in truth a move like this effects a small group of the population playing. A population in the millions of course. So it's the Pareto Principle in the end again, anger 20% of your fanbase to maximize enjoyment for the other 80%. Your premise is wrong here, I doubt one depended on the other. Open 4 was specifically used to mod, not cheat in MP, IIRC it even had limitations that stopped it from being used that way. The group responsible for selling the cheating program are completely separate. Shutting them (Open 4) down wasn't necessary to "maximize enjoyment for the other 80%".
Not really wrong. Doesn't really matter what Open 4 was specifically used for, point being only a small amount of people were using it and RockStar wants to curate it's own content. Cheating had nothing to do with it.

Cheating had nothing to do with it. Moved the goal posts here from adding enjoyment to 80 percent to curate their own content. One, if it had been true, would have been customer service, the other, which most certainly is true, is the absence of customer care and a slap to the face of PC players. Who will most certainly remember when Rockstar tries to sell their next cross platform game.

Cheating has much to do with it, as it cut into their "shark cards" which are basically buying in-game currency for real money. The operative word here. I played a few GTA online sessions and they're otherwise as unmoderated as can be. Neither are level 8000 dudes banned nor preteens crowing homophobic and racial slurs into their mics. That this is happening more than two years after the game has been released on PC doesn't speak for protecting the online community but their own revenue if it is indeed about online. Even more so, since real cheaters are using cheat engine as their weapon of choice. And that still works, far as I am aware.

The same people who bashed Deus ex human revolution for having bosses and then the next game had no bosses at all. The same people who bashed Deus ex mankind divided for being bad and then deus was put on ice. The same people who bashed andromeda for being bad and then mass effect was put on ice. Not them specifically but these kind of gamers. They are just as bad as EA/Ubisoft/activision in my eyes. But a lot of problems with MEA were self inflected. It's not gamers fault this game had laughable facial animations, a weak story, okay characters but no one stands out, a terrible CC, a lack of choices and consequences, among other issues. Mass Effect is put on ice not because of the fan but Bioware releasing a game way before it was ready. You are true . But it is not the abomination people claim it is. it still plays much better than most games out there now. It's better than Horizon let's say (i played it and i loved it!) despite that horizon trumps it in graphics, map design, polish etc. Yes it is not what it should/could have been though

You're right, the gameplay is much better, but I don't buy Bioware for their gameplay, but for a story, companions and interactions that open a window of escapism for 40 hours or more. Something to immerse myself in without thinking about the world surrounding me. That's what I miss in this game. It's the first Bioware game I had no problems putting down and no desire for a replay. Certainly not the same experience I had with their other games, when I played a whole night, although I knew I had to go to work in the morning. Something like books so well written that you simply can't put them down because you have to know what happens next. That's not Andromeda.

I love inquisition as a game, a game which many dislike. I find inquisition to offer me way more replay value than wicther 3. I can replay as a different class, sex, race, voice actor. So far i like andromeda but it does not reach inqusition's heights for me. 90 hours in , kadara at the moment and my complaint is that so far there is no moment i've said "wow! that was wtf moment!" In th same timeframe in inquisiton i had the intro, destruction of haven , travel to skyhold ,a dragon fight, koryhpeus appearance, mages/templars main quest. I like andromeda but not like other bioware games so far. This may change in time though.

Horizon needs to work on it's dailouge system.

Cheating had nothing to do with it. I'm not really sure what the point is. People that used mods would never waste their time grinding for overpriced assets online just to play the game. And according to what I've read, cheating online with the mod tools wasn't even possible. Maybe they want to release singleplayer DLC? I doubt it but it's all I can really think of.

Ah I think I see... Apparently the folks that made the modding tools were getting ready to release a mod that allowed the GTA4 map to be played in the singleplayer mode of GTAV. Perhaps Take Two saw this as competition for their online mode which isn't surprising lol... But that's just a guess.

This kinds of mods have also been done before with Bethesda games. Such as combining FNV (Obsidian, but Bethesda as publisher) with the maps of FO3 via modding. I think it also has been done with Oblivion and Morrowind, without the company making a big deal of it. Because they still know what asset modding is for their games. An asset that would shrink their market segment significantly if removed, since many people buy Beth games on the PC for the single reason of modding the hell out of them.

None of those games had an online component that they wanted people to keep playing though. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people just straight up left online to be able to explore Liberty City with next gen graphics. With all those new GTAV assets along with some of the old ones it would be like playing a new game to some extent.

None of those games had an online component that they wanted people to keep playing though. And what have GTA4 maps to do with anything of that? It's not as if people suddenly started playing this mod (which is only available on the PC anyway) and stopped going online if they are MP fans anyway. You couldn't take these maps online anyway and you wouldn't be able to earn more cash, which is where their online money lies, by having these maps in your SP campaign. That's all a charade to cover up their money grabbing by excluding parts of their community. Cheat engine does a whole lot more damage to their business model as this modding tool could ever have done.

Andromeda has really terrible landscapes. it is not that they are barren, it is the lack of interesting landmarks and geography. Inquisition and horizon nailed that
