LC you have to pick one!

For me there was actually two moments that told me I was on to something pretty darn awesome. First was the quick movement of Nihlus's mandibles after viewing the playback on the attack on Eden Prime, I just sorta knew then with such a small detail like that coming into play, it spoke to me so loudly I just knew I was onto a game here that was going to be epic.

Then the 2nd real big moment was getting to explore the Galaxy Map for the very first time, with THAT music in the background. I spent nearly an hour just going through the map that very first time, the music just seem to make the ME universe "real" during that. It'll take something pretty frigging epic/awesome to get close to matching or topping that!

For me it was the conversation with Sovereign and the realisation that it wasn't a reaper ship - it WAS a Reaper. My mind was blown!

Oh man. I just got a blast of happy nostalgia thinking back to then. For me, it was nothing specific but more a layered experience of awesome feelings. There were so many of them too. I think a huge thing for me was that I could go back and replay it and it still felt fresh. And finding out things that I missed because it was my first RPG and probably the second or third video game I ever played. I never gamed until 2012. I was in my early 30s at the time. ME1 was an amazing game to have as your first RPG and near first video game ever.

If I have to pick one moment....  maybe the thorian. I remember thinking everything is mind control. I kind of felt like it was a statement on society. I thought about indoctrination a lot after that. Not so much ME1 indoctrination but how people are always  trying to indoctrinate you to their beliefs, ideologies, opinions, etc. To me it was pretty cool that a game could make an interesting point like that without really making a point about it. I doubt many really thought about it but the whole trilogy stands pretty well as a commentary on that concept. (I don't mean IT theory, I mean the idea of people  trying to control other people's thoughts).

VANGUARD CHARGE.

No, but seriously, since the first one I played was Mass Effect 1 way back in the day, the moment I knew Mass Effect had me.... Was when Shepard shot out of the elevator and went up the side. It genuinely surprised me, and it's such a stupid moment, but for some reason it STILL fills me with warm fuzzies. It's just cool.

Three is probably my favorite out of the series, and for me.... Again, prepare for a stupid random moment that for some reason just whacked me in the head and made me love it. So right after Mars, Liara is trying to talk Shepard into getting onboard with the crucible plan, and Shepard stops and there's this genuinely sad, gorgeously animated headturn and stare into the middle distance. And for some reason, the whole series and the weight of it tumbled into my skull at that moment, and I went "Holy shit, this is going to be rough." And I loved it. That's probably the biggest moment where Mass Effect just clicked.

Suicide mission.

Virmire in its entirety. The planet, the situation with Wrex, the hold the line speech, the conversation with Sovereign, the Kaiden/Ashley decision.

I was already somewhat hooked from the beginning. Anderson and Udina talking, you walking through the Normandy to the ME theme, stepping onto the bridge and seeing your character before you go through a relay for the first time.

That started it and Virmire closed the deal in grand fashion.

Actually, I know when for ME2 and I will share so everyone can have happy nostalgia too...

The Leviathan DLC. Such a damn cool DLC that filled in so many gaps.

The fleet battle, right before priority: earth (and the game goes downhill), it had the feeling of the "galaxy last stand before the abyss of infinite darkness and shit".
